Cleaning Sigma 17-50 mm f/2.8 lens

Lenses, often get dirty and fungus can grow inside. So, today, while cleaning my Sigma 17-50 mm f/2.8 lens (F Mount), I recorded the whole process. Hope, you like the video.

Great video, thanks! What do you do if over time, the focus ring rubber becomes loose a little? Is there any fix for that?

This lens has been with me many years, so far the rubber ring has not became loose. Now I've sold this system as I've upgraded to Z6ii. Sorry no answer to your question. Hope you find answer elsewhere.

How about if the fungus is in the rear lens? Is there possible way to remove it?

opening the rear side is more complicated and may lead to errors. So it is better to send to a professional service.

dear friend, do you notice less quality after cleaning the fungus? Too much damage? i love this lens, super sharp, and have some fungus, i gonna clean the lens in a week. I thing the fungus have a 4months-1 year time of life, i see only some "fungus lines". Thank you.

If you do it carefully there is no damage. And after cleaning the quality is better since no more fungus is blocking the lens.

helpful video (I have same lens) but please.....MUCH quieter music next time. We don't need music on a "clean your lens' instructional video. IT's really distracting and all we want to do is HEAR CLEARLY what you are saying.

@@fdphy No problem man. I am in the middle of trying to clean fungus from the inside of 3 lenses. the 17-50mm f2.8 is the easiest, the Sigma 8-16mm is really quite a nightmare to deal with. But after two attempts I did manage to finally get deep inside the lens and get most of the fungus removed. The lens was flare-ing badly and lacking contrast due to internal fungus growth over 4 or 5 years.
