I have a parrot who lives in a room that is carpeted, I keep scentless baby wipes in a nearby closet and wipe up any poop. Usually the poop doesn’t soak into the carpet, but if it does I mix some soap and water and scrub it clean. Hope this helps! :)

@ellen24944 жыл бұрын
i have two birds who live in my carpeted room. i just vacuum every week or every other week to get all the seed out, and for poop it’s relatively solid so i either pick it up with a piece paper towel or wipe it up with a damp paper towel if its soaked in. Getting a mat used in like offices so chairs dont scrape the floors to put under their cage wouldnt be a bad idea

OMG about the grate, yes! I received a borrowed cage for a new macaw which he will be moving out of this week. He was in the borrowed cage for five weeks and it didn't have a grate. He became comfortable enough to go down to the bottom and he is also very hormonal so he'd sit there in poop and leftover fruits and vegetables early in the morning and just sit there and shred the newspapers. I can't help but ask "WHY DID YOU TAKE THE GRATE OUT!?" Sooo looking forward to him moving into his brand new cage.

when i let my two parakeets out of their cage they fly away through the room thats nice and all but after that they just stay together on the floor somewhere random in the room and the dont know how to get back into the cage can i learn that to them in some way..?
@claire68524 жыл бұрын
Idk if you could LEARN them to go back in. I have two budgies and they just go back in at night because they know that it's time to go to bed. It just takes them a little bit to figure it out. Just cover their cage at the same time and make sure they know that they need to go in there
@megsutube18154 жыл бұрын
Feed them something they like everyday at the same time inside the cage. After breakfast I take away all food accept a vegetable tray. For Budgies I cut green 🍃 leaf veggies in shreads and they munch on those all day. Then at 4:30 I put a teaspoon of seeds in the cages. They quickly learned to hop in and I shut the doors.

MimthyssS, just use the cheapest store brand clear vinegar. Get the gallon size since it's less per ounce to buy the largest size, and you'll use it up anyway. A gallon of clear (aka white) vinegar (store-brand) should cost about $3.

Do I EVER feel your pain!! We have a large parrot in a cage in our living room and like all birds, she is messy. She belongs to my husband and he is terrible about cleaning up after her. She throws seeds out of her cage constantly, and we have had a huge mice problem, no matter how much we sweep up the seeds! The mice carry the seed shells all over the house and I have found shell "nests" everywhere--closets, inside furniture, behind furniture--you name it. It's gross and disgusting! Not the bird's fault obviously. Just be prepared to clean up meticulously after an avian pet!

Hi, just here to say that vinegar as a cleaning solution is fine, however it has been shown that its disinfectant properties are extremely limited, thus you'd be doing your birds a disservice to continue using it alone as it tends to be most useful for foodborne illness-causing pathogens such as Listeria and E. coli, rather than the myriad other pathogens that threaten our feathered friends on a daily basis. Sorry if this comes off as preachy, I just get so frustrated seeing vinegar touted as the solution (no pun) to all our cleaning woes as pet parronts, when in reality it just... isn't. Anyway, thanks for your continued videos. What you're doing is wonderful and much appreciated on our end! ;3
