My wife and I found out we were having a baby while we were dating. She had some absolute crazy hormone swings, but i looked past all of that and did everything in the world to make it work and help her. 20 years later, we have two kids, shes my best friend and the kids drive us both mentally insane, lol The lesson should be you stand by the mother of your child and do whatever you can to make it work. Especially now in his case.

Kimberly, since it takes about 3 months to get used to a budget, I do the every dollar a little differently. I put in the income, then the fixed expenses, and then there is some left at the top and I like having that extra margin at the top and then as unexpected things come up, I enter those categories and we don't go over. For example, just this week our daughter and her husband and children arrived for a surprise visit. It was fun to take them out to dinner a few times and also treat them to some special activities. That was not in the budget - and would not have been if I had nailed down every dollar in advance. However, because there was margin still at the top for the "unexpecteds," then we had money to enjoy all that with them and enter a "Surprise Visit from Kids" category in the budget and still not go over. After a couple of months you can generally get the categories nailed down, but it's still nice to leave that margin without allocating every dollar. Every dollar also lets you look back to last year so you can be reminded of categories you forgot, perhaps those that are just paid once a year or once a quarter.

Or you can just alter your budget as you go throughout the month. Your budget at the end of the month doesn’t have to be exactly the same as when you set it in the beginning, so long as you aren’t going over what you’re bringing in and you’re putting every dollar in a place

@@rosedewittbukater5763 Very true - and I think that is more the "Ramsey way", likely because they're asking people to be intentional about every dollar. I'm a big fan of Every Dollar. I like to enter everything manually which I find more effective than the "set it and forget it" idea. What I have found when I have promoted Every Dollar to my friends is that when they try it with the "put everything in before the month," they get frustrated with all the juggling in the beginning and then give up. I want to help them stick to it, and so giving a little margin at the top for unexpected things that turn up enables them to stick with the Every Dollar budget the first few months until they get used to how it works. It also forces them to actually enter a category when they spend money which, personally, I think sometimes makes them think more when they see the figure at the top actually go down because of some impulsive spending. Just another way of using this platform.

I'm happy for them, but I do have to ask - at what point do you stop trying to have children on your own and give a home to a child in the adoption system who might never have parents? I've known multiple couples who have adopted directly or fostered and then adopted through there, and it's been wonderful. A lot of people say that they just want children that they made themselves, but the direct implication of that is that an adopted child is less than a genetic one, which is an ugly message. Over 8 billion people on this planet, millions of children without a home, why not put that half a million dollars towards helping those kids in need? Just a thought to anyone reading this.

Anyone know how to do a budget on inconsistent income as an Uber eats delivery driver? Still he doesn't fully understand tax refunds. People get refunds not just for paying too much in, but also for refundable credits such as the EITC or the child tax credit. Those don't equal the amount paid in... Just saying.

So for one yes it is.... the average for the life of the stock market is 10% and adjusted for inflation you could say 7%.... further more if you look at the numbers after 7 years the principle money you invest is doubled.... so if you put in 10000 over 7 years it will be come 20000. You can literally do the math yourself.

Concerning the tax stuff, and getting a refund. Not that I think this is anywhere close to vicinity of right, but in the case of lower income folks, and in certain (my) circumstances, it is not possible to file honestly, and not get $ back. Mainly, the idiots who write our progressive tax system do so in such a way, as to make one's credits exceed tax liability. We threw our entire refund at replenishing our EF & and the principle of our mortgage.

Jealous? Dave is worth hundreds of millions of dollars and has no debt. I think it's more that people have the wrong priorities and they just want the best for people - a life of lazy hedonism where you slave away in a job you hate so you can retire early and sit on your butt is no life at all, and many people who do retire end up having health problems and other issues because they lose focus. Maybe some people can pull it off, but for most, it's a much better idea to find a job that you absolutely love and fulfills you. That's why Dave says he'll never retire and I believe him. This job of helping people is very fulfilling for him. I used to want to retire early, but that was when I had a job I hated. You will come to find out that Delony wears black most days. In fact, he actually wears punk rock band shirts and so really underneath the grey long sleeve button up is the battle of the bands graphic tee and that has pink in it. He did an Ig live yesterday and had the band tee on. Those are the shirts he wears on his show, and on the Ramsey show he dresses formal.

I agree with just about everything Dave says, but he doesn't know what he's talking about regarding Bitcoin. I'm not saying you should put all your money in it, but it is a finite asset backed by actual energy. It is not controlled by corrupt banks, corporations, or governments. It is worth the same all over the world and can be traded or used as currency by anyone, anywhere thus allowing the little guy to make it big. This is why many developing countries are fully Embracing it and why older millionaires and developed countries don't like it. Quite honestly, most people do not fully understand it as a wealth building tool. Millions of people have made apt of money over time with sound strategies. It has doubled in value the past year and is up 1700% in the past 5 years. It is the future.

His show is geared to getting people out of debt and keeping them out of debt. As such, he is not going to advise on ANYTHING, Bitcoin or anything else, that he believes is anything other than "slow and steady." That's why he always gives the analogy of the tortoise and the hare. Bitcoin is not for people who have thousands of dollars in student loan debt, car debt, and personal debt. What Dave advises against is anything that is new and bright and shiny and makes people think that is a quick way to get out of their debt. He doesn't just pick on Bitcoin - he attacks other means of trying to get out of debt quickly like timing the market, etc.
