I had a look at the product data safety sheet and it does indeed contain sodium salts, but doesn't give a percentage of these in isolation...

are we talking about muc off here stewart?
@stewartmaxwell5505 жыл бұрын
Hi Stuart, yes, muc off. Apologise for that as I realise it's a silkoline review. Was just a bit surprised it contained salt, which would account for the black engine dulling?
@stuartfillingham5 жыл бұрын
Yes especially when they told me it didn't contain any! your right ive just checked it out myself! @@stewartmaxwell550
@stewartmaxwell5505 жыл бұрын
I've been using it for years, on and off and noticed the 'dulling' effect before. I'm pretty sure that on the old containers, it advised not to leave on bike for more than 30 seconds!! Great review of the silkoline, I may switch to that👍

Stuart, have you thought about purchasing one of the hot air bike dryers? Someone like you who keeps their bikes in such great condition will appreciate the usefulness of this piece of kit. It will blast out all the water that lurks in the crevices if the engine castings and frame parts. Final thing to add as the long term owner of Honda Goldwings, what is chain lube?? 😀

I use a top of the range cleaning liquid - Fairy liquid. Used with warm water it is as good as any expensive dedicated cleaner. i have never had a problem in 40 years of cleaning bikes.

Thanks for all your videos Stuart, I went out and purchased these products and they work great on my brand new Interceptor 650 Mark 2 as well as my other bikes as I prep one to be sold soon. As I am currently a paint sprayer in the automotive paint trade I would like to recommend a product to you and that being the Wurth Brake Cleaner Pump Sprayer which I fill with Silkolene Wash Off (Or Muc Off as I used to use) as it helps with the slightly tedious task of using a trigger spray bottle requiring popeye forearms. I also use and additional two of these sprayers for my panel wipe at work and brake cleaner at my garage as they are solvent friendly unlike the typical cheap garden sprayers. Hope this helps a bit.

Hi Stewart - thanks for the videos. I've looked at this video and the video on getting your bike ready for winter (which i've left really late given it's now the end of January) - my question is - should I wash and use the Silkolene pro prep - and then go and apply the Tetroseal and Double TT? Or is the Pro Prep doing the same job as the winter versions? Thanks very much and keep up the great work.

Uncle Stuart, you said the bikes need a oil change is the bobber not under warranty ? If so will changing the oil in the bobber invalidate the warranty ?
@stuartfillingham5 жыл бұрын
No Michael, but not doing an oil change might if something goes wrong with the engine.

Hi Stuart thanks for another excellent video. Do you have any pointers on how to adjust the heavy/fine spray setting on the Silkolene wash off? I have some of this but it seems impossible to adjust. Both the 'on' settings just squirt out a thick jet of the stuff, which isn't very useful if you're going over the whole bike.

Great video as usual, you will have to let us know if there is any evidence that this pro prep works long term . Also, I noticed the high tech upgrade of a garden hose Nozzle, surely a sign of KZbin success!

Stuart, does the pro prep leave a matte/satin finish once burnt off? After watching your other video I was going to use GT85 so wondered how it compares for the casings and other satin parts on the BB?
@stuartfillingham2 жыл бұрын
same as GT 85 sort of satin.
@stewartmaxwell5505 жыл бұрын
Hi Stuart, hope you're well sir! Interestingly, when I used the muc off spray on my black Bonneville engine casing, I left it a few minutes, but it dulled the paintwork and i had to use the gt 85 treatment to get it shiny again. Have you come across this before?
@stuartfillingham5 жыл бұрын
occasionally if its left on a bit too long!
@xperiakppxperiaphone28075 жыл бұрын
Hello All, I often get This Result in winter as I don't always have time to let the bike cool down properly first, due to time constraints, ie it's getting too dark to see and I'm frozen. GT85 seems to do the trick of getting rid of the white streaky discolouration. Not usually an issue in summer unless the Muck off is allowed to dry in the sun, respray to keep moist. Hope this is of some use. Cheers Keith

Hi Stuart, as you seem to be a Silkolene fan in oil use, I guess they make great stuff. I was given 5L of a Silkolene product called Fuchs Off, it is blue in colour and I think it's also an alternative to Muc Off which I currently use. Do you know anything about Fuchs Off re. chemical make up and safety on alloy please. Great channel BTW.
@stuartfillingham5 жыл бұрын
Ive always used their motor oils, but only recently started to look at their other products. Fuchs wash off, I believe will be the same product as silkolene wash off but just sold under the parent brand name.

G’day Stuart, great video. How long does the Pro Prep last for on the engine before it evaporates/dissipates due to the heat of the engine? Is it a product that you would use once a week if you ride your bike daily? Cheers, and keep up the good work. 👍👍

Well... Without braking the bank is not quiet reality. As i am an all season rider... these products, although they are very good products, after 8 months of usage the bill is up to 800 euro's, just for cleaning products So "show room condition" costs way to much money. You are talking 'bout the riding season...in that case ok, but i drive my bonneville no matter what , so it takes an extra financial effort. I am sure there is a cheaper way.
