This system has been a life saver for someone like me with ADHD. After cleaning my house like this for a few years I've managed to solve my time blindness and I actually know how long a task takes so I can convince myself to get started. I used to tidy as I went but I'd end up carrying one thing into another room and getting distracted by stuff in that room. This is so much better and your channel has been so helpful for me!
@atparkerable2 жыл бұрын
This is 100% accurate. It was like someone wrote me a map and I’ve never needed to use my own executive function to figure out what I was supposed to be doing and which way I was supposed to go. For me, this method was like the HelloFresh of ADHD solutions for cleaning. Just tell me what I’m supposed to do and in what order and I’m good. 😄😁
@tonistark41692 жыл бұрын
I love the term “time blindness”! I also have a “cleaning blindness”. I find myself cleaning in a timely fashion but there’s ALWAYS something I forgot to do! I make my plan, and invariably FORGET to clean the one thing that, say, I FORGOT to clean that needed cleaning the most! There’s ALWAYS something that I forget when I think I’m finished. I HATE cleaning. It’s irrational I know, but after thoroughly cleaning I know I will have to start the process all over again soon enough. It’s a constant struggle to get motivated to do the chores you hate the most! 🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🥴

Her 3 wave system 1) first wave: go in one direction around the room and remove all items off surfaces and off floors and put them in the laundry basket, the trash, or back in their designated home 2) 2nd wave: this is the actual cleaning. Surfaces are sprayed with product and wiped going from top to bottom 3) 3rd wave: floors are vacuumed and or mopped and trash can is emptied. You must do wave 1 or you cannot do wave 2 because the surfaces are not clear!

I cleaned out my mom's house. She was a hoarder, the house had been empty for a few years, it had been broken into and animals had gotten in. It was overwhelming. I ended up just going room to room and starting at the door. Not any particular direction from there, just forward. It helped immensely to just keep my mind on the task at hand, not the whole picture. I was so proud of the job I did in the end, and next week, finally, the house is being sold.

your system changed my life few years ago, because when the space is maintained it takes 10-15 minutes to clean the whole room 2 times per week, but if the waves are splitted, say, I tidy up every day (it takes 2 minutes), I wipe the surfaces every other day (5 minutes) and mop once or twice per week - my room started to sparkle))))) deep cleaning bathroom takes so much more time, I'm ok with that, but the entry way is a struggle. With all the shoes to wipe, the floors getting always dirty, it never actually feels clean despite all the effort.

I have a three-way clean system too. See if it is useful in any form: prepare, clean, decorate. Example: prepare: you take all the towels off the bathroom then clean the bathroom with products for each type of superficies, and then put all the decore back in a nice way. If we do not decore at the end it won´t show so well the cleaning work. I guess in the house of other people you can´t change much, but in our houses, we can always rearrange a plant, candle, or little paint as a final touch. Cleaning is tiring because sometimes is heavy work, but is so important that we should not hate it at all. Best wishes.

I adopted this philosophy in my 3 car garage/shop/"estate" maintenance facility. Saves miles of aimless walking. Heated and finished interior makes it a good winter project. What room needs cleaned most often ? Anyplace that has a floor esp this time of year. A swifter mop utilizing a wash cloth for economics and quick rinsing in a solution.

I tried it and it really works! Thank you for sharing these techniques 🥰 The room that is the most difficult to tidy and clean for me it’s my bedroom. It gets messy really fast. Prep Wave: Empty the Dishwasher Wave 1: Starting at one side of the room, tidy all surfaces to prep for actual cleaning. Possible prep sprays for stuck dirt or a deeper mess may be necessary from time to time. Wave 2: Cleaning of surfaces going from top to bottom using sprays and damp cloths as needed, end with sink using baking soda. Wave 3: Floors swept/vacuumed, rarely mopped, putting implements away and follow by trash emptied, bags replaced. Aim for 10 minutes unless you have some hand washing to do.

Well the bedroom, but like you start from door. It's the bedside table which is always ground zero for cleaning. Passes by bathroom and heads straight for kitchen and living to outdoors. Slight variations after bathroom occur. As I allow break ups whenever I feel like I should entertain myself in between and allow add-ons of in depth extra work on the spot. Well explained how it can flow from/through your system.
