Everyday: doing the bed, emptying the dishwasher that I started the night before, taking out recycle/trash, vacuuming, wiping dinner table and kitchen counters. These only take 20 minutes total and they have such a BIG impact. Everything else I do weekly or just wipe as needed, also there's a "tidying up after you used it" policy at my home so it never really gets messy.

My daily tasks are dishes, kitchen, a load of laundry, making my bed and tidying my room (our special needs daughter has her own bed in our room). I vacuum the whole house once a week and sweep as needed. Bathrooms once a week. Postpartum depression was extremely difficult for me trying to maintain our home, so for the last few months I’ve been really decluttering. If we haven’t seen/used it in 6 months we don’t need it, with a few exceptions. I take on one “project” a day, like our closet, or vacuuming and organizing our dresser drawers. It’s finally where I want it! It’s still a pain to maintain with 3 kids, but it’s manageable.

Oh! Constantly cleaning and tidying where I am at the moment so it never builds up. Tiring but rewarding. Every day: kitchen counters and sink, 1 laundry (a hamper in every room), robot vacuuming and for sure every bed made before leaving the house for work. Only then I find peace 🥰

I am surprised I already do all these things. I was so bad at cleaning and organizing my home years before, but now I always have a clean and tidy home. It all started with a clean sink every night. Than decluttering regularly. Then, everything have a designated place so I know where is every object in my home. Then, a clean kitchen. Laundry every day. Hanghing all my clothes on hangers (This way every time I put something back it has it's place and it keeps a good shape). Every time I use something I put it on back where it belongs. A weekly routine...etc.. it's not perfect all the time, but it's just so much easier now to have a clean and organized home than it was years before.

If you have a dishwasher, the best tip I can give is obviously load dishes directly in there. I have always struggled with dishes (raised by very lazy people). However I moved in with my boyfriend whose very clean and he taught me to load the dishwasher, run at night before bed and wash any big things by hand (pans & knives) takes 5 mins and there’s usually about 3-4 things from dinner. Next morning unload before you make breakfast, also takes about 5 mins and then start the process over. Then you have a fresh dishwasher to load your dishes in for the day and the start of some good dishes habits that are easy to stay on top of. We do it as a team a lot of times so it’s even faster. It’s changed my life, best of luck.

haha... I usually try and clean one or two things around my house each day but since I'm a full-time teacher and a full-time grad student, I have come to learn that there are going to be days where my house is sort of dirty & I am 100% okay with that! I spend my Saturdays pick up & cleaning my house, then on Sundays I do laundry & make everything up (like my couch & desk) - then through the week, I don't worry about clothes on the floor, or blankets & pillows on the couch, or mail stacked on the entry table - as long as my dishes are routinely done & my trash is taken out when full, then I am a happy camper! It really is all a personal thing about how you are okay with your house being on a daily basis, I know my house is lived in & to be honest, during the week I don't do much at my house besides sitting at my desk or on the couch working on homework, & I usually will spend 8ish hours laying in bed (maybe I'll sleep for those 8hrs or maybe I will scroll through my phone for 4 & then sleep for 4... it's a toss up!)

I used to throw the clothes I was wearing that day on top of a chair or hamper in the bedroom because they weren't necessarily dirty. The clothes would pile up by the end of the week and I would dread hanging them back up because it would take so long. So I tried the method of putting them away right away. My method is in the morning when I get dressed I leave the hangers out that I took the clothes off of that way I'm not searching for a hanger when I get home, and when I do get home I change into comfy clothes so if the clothes I was wearing out are not dirty the hanger is right there and I just hang them back up. It takes less than 30 seconds whereas a pile of clothes to hang up is much longer. If they are dirty I just throw them in the hamper. By the end of the week I still have a mess free area, clothes are put away, and dirty laundry is ready to load.

To stay on top of laundry I keep a laundry basket in the room of each person. A full laundry basket pretty much equals one load. (Its me, my Husband and two teens). We each pretty much have a best day to do laundry so it works out that we each do our own laundry on different days. Since I wear dress clothes for work and change, I usually have two loads per week. Everyone else does one. We have a hamper for bathroom towels that get done once a week. I keep a small Dollar Tree bucket in each bathroom and one in my kitchen for hand towels and wash cloths. I make it a habit by clean as you go. While I prepare my meal I wash any dishes. Also when the meal is in cooking process I start to wipe clean the kitchen.

One task is the entire common area downstairs. That includes mopping. I do it at night when the kids are asleep so we can wake up to a clean common area. And because I do it every evening it only takes me 20 minutes to get everything back in order. There are no pile ups from previous days.

My bathroom and kitchen sink, I always leave them clean and I always pick up after myself so the house remains tidy. I have chronic knee and lower back pain so my MIAs are the areas that cause the most pain if I let them go. I think about how much will it hurt now vs how much will it hurt later and recovery time. The key for me is to minimize the amount of time I spend bending and/or getting up and down off the floor (I can't squat or kneel) because those activities cause the most pain and have the longest recovery. So I might choose to wipe down the shower and skip vacuuming because vacuuming doesn't get harder if I let it go but the shower gets significantly harder if I don't stay on top of it.

I try to make sure all the surfaces are clean-I do a walk around before bed, and I like to make sure the kitchen is completely shut down. I try to wash and put away the dishes and make sure it looks organized for the morning

I try to always bring my food dishes down. I'm struggling with my mental health but even on the days where I can only leave my bed once, I always take dirty dishes down. Cleaning is so much harder for me lately so I can't wait until I'm back to being high functioning enough to consistently meet my old baseline.

Very good video for beginners. I have found Flylady to be an easy system to follow.. Simple morning and evening routine, zone cleaning 15 min daily, 1 hour home blessing each week, perpetually clean home. Super simple.

Laundry is also something en enjoy being on top of. As you said... Its fairly easy... And like you my own little R also gets more dirty but I will admit it has improved lot as she is getting older. the outdoor gear however is another story but hey, that means she's having a great time playing outside. 😊

I'm quite good with the tidying, probably because it is more obvious more quickly. So the living room has to look just right before I go to bed. I hate cleaning, especially floors. Probably because I have back problems. I try to "dry mop" the floors daily, but washing them is the one task I heavily procrastinate on. Also the skirting boards are a big challenge because they were installed with silicone in the gap to the wall and dirt just sticks to them. So it's a job that requires getting on my knees which is quite painful for me.

Cutting back on my family's (mostly children's) clothing "inventory " has changed my household. My daughters had 3 XL loads of laundry EVERY WEEK and I just couldn't keep up. Minimal Mom here on KZbin has a video about laundry and she goes over how to minimize the clothing and so minimize your laundry piles. Fabulous!!!
@briannab52962 жыл бұрын
Oh the memories your comment brings back to me! I couldnt understand why my one & only daughter had such big loads of laundry (for ME to clean). Then i found out she would pull several outfits out of her closet while deciding what to wear .. BUT the clothes she decided not to wear didn't get put back in the closet .. she would throw them down in the dirty clothes pile! .. to put it mildly, i was livid. I can laugh about it now but back then as a struggling divorced single parent it was no laughing matter to me.

@@briannab5296 Yes, hard to laugh now but I know one day I will. The hard time now is when they're in between sizes and in between seasons. Lol! Also, they get very attached to certain dresses or even old stained shirts. My oldest cries when she has grown out of her favorite clothes. Heartbreaking.

I’m really good at cleaning my bathroom sink every day. I clean it & the windowseal every morning while I’m doing my mouthwash. Another one I’m good at is tidying & cleaning my kitchen worktops every day. I can’t relax if they’re untidy. I live alone, so don’t really have enough clothes etc to do washing every day. When I do do it I like to take it out of the tumble dryer & put it all away straight away. A lot of people in the UK dry their stuff outside on a washing line. Not me. I use my tumble dryer all through the year. I have pink & yellow carpets in my house & I find that they need either hoovering or using the carpet sweeper every day. (Our family calls it the push & pull.😀)

Thanks for the tips. I struggle with keeping my house tidy on a daily basis. Mainly because lack of accessible storage downstairs where I spend all my time. There isn't much space to put storage. I do have cabinets in the hallway/laundry area. But the washer and dryer make it extremely hard to access even with a ladder. My living bf doesn't help me clean. I asked him multiple times to clean but he always avoids it. It's hard to stay motivated. This video did give me some motivation to start tidying daily more regularly.

I care more about tidiness. A space can be super clean but if it's messy it causes me stress. Once the space is all tidied up, though, I start to notice the areas that need to be cleaned and then that causes me stress. 😂 In summary, most of the time, I'm stressed. 🤣 LOVED your approach on the topic, btw. Realistic, effective, motivating. The only daily cleaning "checklist" that will stand the test of time. 👍👍👍
