CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Jack Ryan (Harrison Ford) tries to rent a helicopter for his pilot.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
This is the third film based on Tom Clancy's high-tech espionage potboilers starring CIA deputy director Jack Ryan. Harrison Ford, returning to the Ryan role after his first go-round in 1992's Patriot Games, is assigned to a delicate anti-drug investigation after a close friend of the President (a Reaganesque Donald Moffat) is murdered by a Colombian drug cartel. When Ryan discovers that the President's wealthy friend was in league with the cartel, the President's devious national security adviser (Harris Yulin) and an ambitious CIA deputy director (Henry Czerny) send a secret paramilitary force into Colombia to wipe out the drug lords. The force is captured and then abandoned by the President's lackeys. It falls to Ryan to enter Colombia and rescue them, aided only by a renegade operative named Clark (Willem Dafoe), with both his life and career on the line.

He died in 2015. I miss him and my mom so much but I don't feel it anymore. I shut it all off. The book was better. This never happened. Forget which helicopter, but they rerouted the flight plans of a US Navy helicopter who were Vietnam vets. It's hard to squeeze the book into a movie. One of the best part of Jack Ryan was part of that story. The senior NCO was shot and killed. He had a wife and 10+ children and Jack wept as the man was dying in his arms. Took care of the family in future books.

True story, friend of mine ran an all night service station when six suburbans pulled up and some guy in a suit demanded he turn on all the pumps. They pumped over $500 in gas. Suit guy left a Secret Service business card with a single telephone number. Bill was paid in full within an hour of the phone call. I'm guessing this helicopter "salesman" made Jack Ryan for CIA the moment he walked up in a windbreaker and aviator shades. He just needed the card to confirm it.

Funny, given the time frame of this Tom Clancy story. Ryan’s chopper pilot, likely a late Vietnam War era would have flown the single turbine Huey but not the twin engine model. I wonder how pilots who experienced this in their aviation career would explain the difference?

The actual film Clear And Present Danger is more accessible to and more the story of an everyday dedicated Law Enforcement Officer whose not made it past LtCol in the Army prior to joining in as local yokel Policeman and the unstated premise is church mice lab rats are behind the trouble, it has probably been said Clear And Present Overacting however you'll notice when Harrison Ford says to imaginary wife Patricia that he said to John as imaginary President of the USA say "We were the best of friends" to awaiting media mafia the ever present "ice age" pinging robots can't handle I swear I don't know you when all the time their own ugly human branding they knew would only ever be another fisherman caught in his own net.

Nowadays Harrison Ford would be able to fly the chopper himself. He bought a helicopter 🚁 to use for his 800-acre ranch in Wyoming. He’s also uses it while doing volunteer search and rescue & has saved stranded hikers on more than one occasion.
