Like many, the Devil's Rejects introduced me to this man's music. Best thing Rob Zombie has ever done is bring Terry Reid to the ears of a lot of people of my generation. Words can not express what I feel when I hear not only this song, but the entire Seed of Memory album. Powerful, chilling, beautiful music!

I saw Terry Reid open for the Stones about 1969. It was BB King, Terry Reid and the Stones. Brian Jones had died and Mick Taylor was on guitar for the Stones. It was the "Get your Yah Yahs Out " Tour I believe. BB King opened, finished, polite clapping and the audience was where's the Stones? You know how that goes.Then Terry Reid came out and completely took over the place. He did either three or four encores while the Stones were waiting for him to finish. At one point Mick and Keith were actually on stage and the audience still wouldn't let Reid leave until he did another encore. That was at the Baltimore Civic Center. The same thing apparently happened in Indianapolis. I saw Hendrix play in a lightning storm and Jim Morrison almost start a riot and that night at the Civic Center may have been the greatest performance I ever saw. Thank you Mr. Reid. Again. .

Willard Steele This is 1 of the best things that i have seen written anywhere ever in a very long time. what an amazing time that must have been, i would have been 4, but would have still happily gone along. you are one very blessed individual as well as the rest of the audience, that's an experience, not a concert. So happy for you :)

Best place to see Terry is at a smaller intimate venue. He's the kinda guy that would have a drink with you before the show. AMAZINGLY talented and under appreciated musical talent. Thank you Rob Zombie for including his music on the Devils Rejects soundtrack and introducing Terry to a generation that would never have known him otherwise.

Terry Reid was under contract to record producer Mickie Most at the time but that did him no good. He was getting 3% per record from a man who was obsessed with current trends and the singles market.

@@toneohm215 I can't see him in Led Zep. The lifestyle, the egos, the swagger. I don't think that would have suited him. Also he can clearly play guitar, but probably wouldn't have been allowed to in Led Zep as they already had Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones on guitar
@philipferguson85708 жыл бұрын
He was born in 1949 so would be in his 62nd year on this video. His voice is still great and really tasteful guitar-playing, very atmospheric. One of the greats undoubtedly. I still listen to 'Bang, Bang, you're Terry Reid'. Incredible to think he recorded that album when he was only 18/19. They don't produce 18/19 year-old guitarists/singers/songwriters like this these days. Free, one of the great rock bands, were of a similar age when they were doing great stuff too. That was an incredible time for music on both sides of the Atlantic.

Terry is and always has been legend in my eyes...despite not getting the recognition he truly deserved. I bought Seed of Memory album mid 70s and have loved it ever since. Whilst many won't know much of him...go ask serious musicians ...he's rightly held in great esteem. Was great to see Jools Holland having him on his "later" show in 2018. Heard him referred to as the star who never was....well maybe financially and commercially...but hes' always have been a star as far as i'm concerned .Cant' think of anyone musically that I would wish well as much as this guy.

I have been buying records and reading about rock n roll since 1970 when I was 12. I was never aware of Terry Reid until I watched a Rob Zombie film, "The Devil's Rejects" the other night. The soundtrack had 3 of Terry's songs and two were prominently placed like "To Be Treated Rite". Such a talent and the Black Crowe's must have glommed onto Reid's music and Robinson his vocal style. Just a great artist and very unknown by many of us in the USA.

Oh we are what we are when in danger And we are as we stand head in hand When a friend brings to light On a cold silver knife You can stare your fate right into his hand -Into his hand Oh we are what we are when we're made to Be the sole owning guardians of land And there's always advice On a cold winter's night That your dreams are just an island in the sands Way out in the sand Don't it seem so strange How it just don't change, yeah Things just stay the same As they've always been Some of us are out to win And some of us are out just to aim Just out to aim Oh we are what we are when we're praying In our own way of seeking some light May the mission bell still ring Of the colourful dreams In the faith that everyone will be treated right Will be treated right On a cold cold night Will be treated right Hell, I hope that everybody Will be treated right, yeah Will be treat right On a cold, cold, cold, night Will be treated right

This was a great song when he originally wrote it....fantastic...but there's something more "real" to it when someone who's older with more "life experience" sings it....it's like he knew the words when he was 25 (or however old he was at the time)....but now, he's LIVED the words. It also helps that he still has the voice. ;-)
