@jonathantaylor6926
@jonathantaylor6926 Күн бұрын
That's not going to work this time. The FED can only dictate very short term rates. The long end, like the 10 year UST for example is the result of market forces. The 10 year is up 10 basis points since the FED 50 point cut. The FED can influence the long end through QE/QT where they buy or sell these equities but there's a major problem with QE- it requires the FED to print money to make the purchase. The US economy can not have low borrowing cost and high inflation. No investor on earth is going to loan the Federal government money for 10, 20 or 30 years at 3.75% if inflation is 5% because investors do not lock in a guaranteed loss. The bond market does not, and never will, ignore inflation.

All other central banks do the same thing. The central bank of China, of Russia, same exact thing the FED does. So why would that be an issue? The FED has the longest history to work with becasue Europe, China, Russia all had massive wars, revolutions, civil wars, so their historic data is all messed up. The FED is really the only player in town with a history that is useable but the USA also changed allot, we used to be like China today, a major manufacturer and exporter but it was not to the level of China of course we were also very consumer driven like we still are today. But we still have the best history that can still be applied, even Powell himself in previous events brough up data from 1800s becasue it might have been over 100 years ago but funny enough the USA economy still acts like it did over 100 years ago so they have old old data they can use to plan out their future actions. No other country can do that it's almost like a cheat code so other countries like to Follow the FED as they have a very good handle on the economy, yes they also make BIG mistakes like 1970s-80s what a disaster and also 2007 could have been managed better but they managed 2017-2019 rate cycle with no issues also 2000, and the 1990s were all managed very well, and COVID cycle was a major success for the FED. They pump in trillions and managed to sell off half of it in the last 2 years of QT. CRAZY success. Very few countries can pump their economy and then immediately release half of it. WTF! FED is a magician in that regard.

I swear the federal reserve does not care about the public at all and pretend to because it's a reputation thing to keep up. I also absolutely hate the methodolgies used for measuring all of their stats or just cut out things to favour a bias... We need a longer and higher sustained interest rates to stop bad borrowing but here we are with wanting borrow instead of working to add value into a country to buy something. Never ceases to amaze me how we're moving away from logical and rational sense to stupidity. I guess we'll see what prize we'll all suffer from with a loose monetary system.
