well done savannah. im really rooting for you! youve come a long way since the first video! motorways are overwhelming at first but i promise it gets easier. i used to be like you in my lessons and for a while i hated going too fast, but you do get used to that as well. its mainly just a confidence issue and the more you do these things, the more it will start to feel natural and youll stop second guessing yourself (i did a lot of that too haha). i passed 4 months ago but never actually covered any motorway driving throughout my lessons (did a fair amount of dual carriageways tho), so i literally had to force myself to go on the motorway pretty much straight away as i do a weekly commute 20 miles from home that involves using the motorway. so for your first time you did extremely well - your observations are always on point and being aware of your surroundings is the most important thing. aman is guiding you very well and im looking forward to seeing more of your progress! you got this!!

Even though I’ve been driving for 31 years and never had an accident btw, I didn’t know watching these types of videos was so entertaining! Another pointer to Savannah - always remember the 2 second rule in keeping distance. Most people ignore it in the UK now but you see so many rear and front end accidents on motorways because of tailgaters (the worst drivers but so many of them) - come off the gas as someone pulls in front of you to keep the 2 second minimum gap……say ‘only a fool breaks the two second rule’ which is 2 seconds. Great channel. 😀

Excellent lesson and brilliantly don'e . The signs that overwhelm you try to just concentrate on the signs tst matter to you. You know when you go to a fancy restaurant and it takes have a page to describe what you're having and truthfully only 1 word matters the type of meat or fish the rest of the words don't matter. So simply look for the markings or road signs that matter to you the rest of the signs don't matter to you. So you can ignore them. So say you're staying on the m4 you only look for signs that say M4 and if has another road you can ignore it

Dont they teach MSM-PSL anymore? All the instructor seemed to say about manoeuvre was slow down to 15-20, which is speed. When i learnt to drive 30 years ago, we couldn't drive on motorways, but i had a local A road which was great to learn on at speed. Its great for encouraging the importance of observation before you test.
@13thnotehifireviews72 ай бұрын
The thing I still do which I don’t like of modern tuition and rules of the road, is stop at junctions….They teach hesitation into the driving test which we didn’t have when I did my test in the early 90s. Always stop, first gear….I think with speeding drivers and many more cars on the road this is even more important nowadays. Also you just can’t gauge speed of other cars so easily when pulling out onto fast roads when you are moving compared to being stationary. The biker who died by a car pulling into his path in Norfolk (videos on KZbin) from a t junction could have been avoided possibly if the car had been fully stopped and moved only when assessing the bikers speed.

Hi ,i have a question,if road speed is 40,can someone drive in between 30-40?
@wrightwoodwork3 ай бұрын
Yes . At times the motorway csn be congested and you might only be doing 2 mph. So when joining its vital to look at what speed the traffic is on the motorway. If it's 70 but they can only do 20 because of congested traffic then you join at 20 unless you want to crash into the traffic at 70. Saying that you can't drivevat 20 on the motorway if it's clear
@ClearviewDrivingАй бұрын
It is dependent on the context of the road conditions, the speed limit is a maximum speed for the road but if its not safe to do so then you can drive accordingly

Only found your channel today through shorts. While i am bingewatching now, it occurred to me that before the people start driving, nobody is correcting the mirrors to their proper settings. Is there a reason for? Or is it something you do prior to the start of the video? Please keep doing what you do. For me as Dutchie, i was always wondering how it would be to drive on the wrong side of the road as you all do (just pulling your leg there😅😅😅) and i learn a lot by just watching you and your students.

Hi Aman, first video I’ve watched, you’re obviously a wonderful instructor! I wonder whether sometimes you give a little too much information though? There’s so much to process when learning to drive, also processing a constant dense stream of information for me would be a bit overwhelming. Maybe it’s the way the video is edited but personally I’d certainly appreciate some periods of quiet or maybe just some short periods of simpler minimal instruction to be able to gather myself and focus on what I was doing.
@ClearviewDriving3 ай бұрын
Hey thank you for watching :) This is a first lesson on a motorway so there’s generally a lot of information and this lesson was an hour or so long but I’ve cut it down for the video and also only kept the bits that I’m giving info to be helpful to others There were loads of quiet bits but I tooI them out :)

@@ClearviewDrivingI had an instructor when I was 17 in 1992 who was just like Aman and always talking and warning of dangers and giving guidance on road signs and behaviours and commending good driving. I think this approach bolsters confidence because there is a lot going on when driving and it’s happening quickly and this talking all the time is exactly what is therefore going on, so it trains the mind to think this way. Also people learn through repetition and the more that’s verbalised the more people learn. Finally it aids multi-tasking, which if you think of it, is exactly what you do when driving. I’ve sat with friends learning to drive and their instructors who say nothing do not build confidence…..in fact the opposite!

If you're a good standard on large dual carraigeways there's no reason they shouldn't be able to handle motorways, i think the issue is instructors don't teach slip road merging and high speed lane changes enough, if you can do a good variety of those and nail them then no motorway should be an issue, it's just an extra lane or two at the end of the day with overhead signage.
@wrightwoodwork3 ай бұрын
@@IISocratesIIyeah it's exactly the same skills. In fact the motorway can be easier due to extra lane allowing people to move over which then makes joining easier

I’m glad it isn’t, think of the amount of people who go for tests who aren’t ready at all and imagine the danger they’d cause on a motorway. My instructor has told me about people who have gone for their test and failed then asked for a couple of lessons with her and she says their driving is terrible and unsafe and a lot of them are from different countries on a foreign license looking to obtain their UK license but are totally oblivious to the standard of driving required in the UK.
