Can you make a video about your product development process and compare it to Google's? Eg how you use or skip design docs/requirements docs/specifications/testing (both of software and of products). I'm cofounding a company (CTO) and I'm worried that without getting this experience from Google that I won't know how methodical or not I need to be. I'm definitely planning on studying the basics of product management online, but it'd really ease my imposter syndrome if I could hear about the different approaches used at big vs small companies from someone who's been there before. m(_ _)m

I just started my first job as software engineer for about a month, and i can kind of relate to your first point. Sometimes I feel frustrated or insecure that I can't know all the components of this huge code base and how everything work together, even though i only work on this small part of it and this small part is all I need to know. I guess I just need to learn to accept not knowing things, and live with it

Would you be able to do a video that shows your workflow in scoping a project? It would be interesting and useful material. 😊 Also, thank you for the lessons from this video. Not only do they apply to life in general (like you said), but they are the kind of lessons we need to be reminded of quite often because life throws a lot of curveballs at us, makes us doubt our skills and potential for impact, and makes us forget the messages you've just shared.

I was one of @clement's SWE interns! Imagine the Karate Kid but with LOTS and LOTS of TypeScript. Everyday we'd play backgammon after work and he'd take me under his wing showing me the wonders of SWE. My fellow intern and I even redecorated Clement's desk space with inflatable monkeys and tropical party favors, renaming it the "Jungle Pod". I trust that he hasn't removed the decorations ; ) He was a kickass boss in every sense of the word.

In conclusion: 1. No one at google knows what they do. 2. Startups are fast paced and are able to compete bigger companies because of their slowness. Just saved you 12 minutes. Welcome.

the content of this video is more profound than I anticipated, very insightful I have been thinking this thing for a while, but I am not sure because I have not worked at Google, now I can understand better. Does this apply even for CEO and other high positions too?

Knowing what you're doing is boring. Seriously. If all you're doing at work is stuff you already know how to do, it's time to move on and go somewhere where you can learn more. Also, keep in mind that all progress is done by people who didn't initially know what they were doing.
