Assistant medical examiner testifies at trial day 3 for Samantha Woll's alleged killer

Nicole Croom, an assistant medical examiner at the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office, testifies at the trial of the man accused of killing Detroit woman Samantha Woll. Michael Jackson-Bolanos is standing trial for murder and other charges in June in connection with the Oct. 21, 2023, stabbing of Woll at her home.

Dr. Croom is so smart, poised, and naturally beautiful. Serious case. Heartbreaking. But she made me chuckle when she had to tell the defense attorney that histology looks at anatomy and physiology is about the function. Therefore, it would hard to study function of someone if dead. That was a DOH ! moment for the defense.

I like this prosecutor besides all if the "um's" he also prosecuted the defendant in the Zion Foster Case and did phenomenal job, especially with his closing argument. This is the same defense attorney in that case as well.

Sometimes that’s possible. For example, after the heart has stopped, bleeding from penetrating wounds, and bruising from blunt force trauma is absent due to absence of blood pressure. Other situations might include the sequence of injuries being surmised when some wounds were inflicted prior to a victim having been undressed. If a victim is attacked a number of times over a period of days, the sequence of injuries can be determined by observing the amount of natural healing that has taken place. Penetrating injuries that occur while a victim is actively fighting off an attack would obviously occur prior to other wounds inflicted after a victim has been disabled. But it is NOT possible in every case to determine the sequence of injuries; 1., 2, 3,…, and particularly not in this case.

If the suspect touched her and realized she was alive and called 911, he would be touted as a hero - I understand when he realized she was deceased, being a black man in an area breaking inside cars, now he is touted as the man on trial for murder.
