When this boy told his dad he needed help, his dad said write it in your book and suck it up. The parents KNEW he had a book?! Were they that neglectful that they told him to write down these ugly thoughts in THE book and never thought once to look at this book or mention the book at any point to anyone? This would have been ALL avoided. I am not generalizing to all parents, I’m talking about the parents of this particular boy with this amount of written proof he needed critical help. @karenfitzpatrick6256 Жыл бұрын
@@hereitis.2587 Since it has been proven that the personality foundation is set in the first five years of life and he wasn't given any type of early intervention or treatment at the onset of the signs of a genetic tendency toward mental illness, he was set up to fail. This child could have grown up in an environment where he might have thrived. I think the neglect, abuse and lack of care from his parents and their home life permanently damaged him. It's probably far too late for him to recover or be rehabilitated. The damage is done. If he'd been raised with different parents with a supportive caring childhood may have made all the difference. But I'm afraid the pathology, the desire to hurt and kill, has already been acted out. He will grow up only to have that drive in him for the rest of his life. It will never go away. He may learn some control techniques, but there will always be the great chance he will snap again. Society can't risk that and ever let him free.

His sentence will be heard by others globally with the same contemplative ideology while grasping a clear crystallized concept to the severe negative reactions from them physically acting out those abysmal atrocities onto others who are innocent which will detour them away from being the "Copy Cat" to this kid's nefarious spectacle actions by sentencing him to prison for life with no parole all in the name of recognition to the world in regards to knowing his name attached to his preplanned execution incident he did.. Ya I wonder how he felt and what he was thinking when the detective was reading Ethan's journal where he used the N word. That probably came from the parents. Although I had a disturbed brother who became racist after hanging out with an adult racist neighbor who took an interest in "mentoring" him and my brother completely absorbed all of his racist ideologies even though both my parents instilled in us the exact opposite. The N word was never spoken in our home and never came out of my mouth. Never even thought about it. But my brother was horribly mean and racist to other kids in the classroom. So you can't always blame the parents for a mentally ill kid's behavior but you can blame them for not being home enough, showing enough love or compassion, or getting your kid mental health help he needs. A lot of parents don't put their kids in therapy because they don't want their family problems and potential child abuse or neglect issues to come out. They don't want their kids airing out the dirty laundry. I suspect that's these parents.

Stealing lives will not guarantee you any type of fame. You might make the news, and have your face appear on court clips on KZbin, but that’s it. You’re not gonna be in history books, you’re not gonna have songs or movies made about you. You’ll be remembered as a loser, someone who had nothing to offer the world and opted instead to rob people of their lives. You’re not gonna have a subculture built around you like Eric or Dylan. People are tired of this gun violence, it’s not unique and discussed like it was in 1999. These morons don’t get recognition anymore. @heatherloughlin544 I've been saying this theory from the beginning! I truly believe they knew their son had mental health issues, and they bought him that gun in hopes he'd unalive himself! They were both too caught up on their own lives and didn't want to deal with Ethan. They both knew when they heard about the school shooting it was their son! They both took off and all of a sudden came together not wanting to look back at the tragedy their child caused! They both drained all of their bank accounts (including Ethans savings) to have money to either A. Go I to hiding or B. Secure themselves proper counsel! They both have paid attorneys while leaving Ethan with court appointed counsel! We all make mistakes as parents and hindsight is 20/20 but Ethan was literally BEGGING for help and for attention from his parents. They chose to not help and in return left families grieving for their child/loved one FOREVER and harmed many more with physical/mental health issues for the rest of their lives.

I am watching this after seeing mom's trial. I'm reading these comments and I'm struggling with this caase. I watched every second of her trial. Listened to all the evidence, heard the discovery, read everything I could find on this family. I also watched the hearing appealing the prosecution of the parents, which was done months ago. If these parents were paying better attention, he still would never have given them a glimpse into his plan. Hindsight is always 20/20. The prosecution of the parents is the first of it's kind in this country, and I wouldn't be surprised if it were overturned on appeal. As a mother of 5 children (all married, all parents now), I know how well teens hide their issues from their parents. I know my husband and I could have done better, and by God's grace I can say I'm thankful all my kids are extremely successful, healthy, fantastic spouses and parents....but would I have seen this in my child? It's just hard to imagine seeing this kind of evil in your own child. I don't know if any parent would be able to see this coming (unless their whole lives have been full of chaos, drama, addiction, abuse, etc.). We have the tendency to not see the bad in our kids. Seriously, look at your child or grandchild, and try to imagine them being THIS EVIL. I struggle with the parents prosecution personally. I'm a fan of holding parents more accountable than we have in our country - but for me, I have a hard time seeing the culpability in ths particular case. Again, they could have and should have done better. But there's alot more going on here. First, they bought the gun and used it as a family. Ethan called it his gun, but it was kept in his parents room, most of the time locked up. They bought the gun because their depressed son had an interest, and they were trying to come his way a little bit, and go shooting together because it lit him up, and made him happy. Obviously shortsighted. Something else - they get a call from the school, both dropping everything and heading straight there. They addressed the drawing in math class, and spoke with the school counselor, who advised them to get him psychological counseling, and also advised that he go back to class. That is exactly what they did, with the intention of getting the counseling he needed. Obviously too late. Also, the prosecution lied saying these parents were fleeing when they were not - they could not be at their own house because of the press, and because they were lining up with their attorneys to turn themselves in with the protection of COUNSEL, which they very much needed, obviously. Karen Mcdonald decided to not respond to the defense attorneys calls and mesages as they tried to line this up, and instead lied saying they were fleeing, holding a freakin press conference saying they were running away. She used this case as a political ploy to make a name for herself, which to me, was disgraceful. The state has pulled all kinds of manipulations, and of course this case is so emotional and egregious, and the whole world is watching...and it's easy to see why the tendency would be to make sure anyone with any chance to see this coming would pay dearly. Anyway, I just had to get that off my chest lol. By the way, may the victims rest in peace, and their families find the closure and peace they SO deserve. My heart truly goes out to yo.

I in no way condone what Ethan did. He was a “kid” that had mental issues for whatever reason. He told his parents that he was seeing demons, he told his parents that things were being thrown around the house, and he asked his parents to take him to the doctor. His father gave him pills and told him to “suck it up”. I feel bad for the families that lost their children. I know I would be lost without mine. I believe that Ethan‘s parents let him down and in doing so, let down the community.
