I’m 35 and he’s all I know when it comes to Detroit sports, along with George Blaha & Greg Kelser. WDIV has been amazing to watch growing up, I miss Carmen and Chuck on here too, the weather hasn’t been the same since Chuck retired. We all knew this day was coming but it’s so easy to get spoiled, because now what? I’m starting to see how my Grandparents might’ve felt when certain ppl retired from TV because this stings! But I’m glad he’s going to finally be able to get some rest and enjoy the fruits of his labor but we’re gonna miss you covering sports. Happy Retirement and thank you for everything, you made so many moments special for us.

You will be missed. Now, as I get older, the majority of the broadcasters I grew up with are no longer on anymore. It's hard, at least for me, to get used to that. Thank you for always making the days brighter. I also love the fact that your sons are grown and it doesn't phase them to exchange kisses with dad.

Bernie is an amazing guy. I had the chance to meet him the 1st time back in 2007. My best friend was a camera man for channel 4, for about 8 years until he unexpectedly passed away in 2016. Now I deliver Amazon to Bernie 4 days a week. Just a great guy all around.

Hey, Bernie, as a kid in the 80s and 90s, you were my sportscaster of choice (Eli Zaret a close 2nd). I left Michigan in 1999 for the military and never moved back home. You look and sound the same as the last time I saw you in 1999. Your humor and grace are 2nd to none. Thanks for the memories, and enjoy a well-deserved retirement!

Great stuff. I grew up a major sports fan in Chicago with stops in Florida and New England along the way. Great sports markets and sports anchors. But I was always amazed at Bernie's knowledge, humor, and entertaining delivery. No one more talented than that man. And such a wonderful sendoff by this classy bunch. Good luck, Bernie.
