Ford Motor Company stopped the assembly line at the Rouge truck plant for about an hour Thursday for a party. It's celebrating its 2024 truck launches and sales, especially the Maverick and Ranger pickup trucks.

Because of government mandates. Ford could not integrate the air bags (side air bags, not just front) without a major redesign. This is the same thing that killed the Crown Vic and Grand Marquis, stupid government mandates. All of this leads to higher prices for vehicles. All these employees need to be fired and replaced by machines. It's 2024 we don't need to deal with unions anymore. Quality will increase. A truck shouldn't cost 80k and fall apart in 100k miles. These employees are to blame for high prices. They make way too much money. People in Mexico would build these trucks for $10 a day.
@christopherkeene36479 ай бұрын
Dodge and gm builds trucks in mexico, but they are not passing the savings to the customers
@monkeyhunkeytunkey9 ай бұрын
Yeah that sounds completely reasonable, lets just tank the dwindling economy even quicker so executives get a fatter quarterly bonus. Quality starts at the head, top-down. The foundational basis of any vehicle is proper engineering and simplification. Vehicles are comprised of parts that are purposely made to fall apart by engineers, the engineers are not to be at fault because this mandate comes from the top. The lifecycle of parts are carefully engineered to usually break after warranties so that manufactures can double dip from selling these vehicles to dealerships but also sell the parts to fix these shoddily made parts. The dealerships don't care either because they're in bed with MFG's and make a killing from their service departments. If you want proper quality vehicles then people are going to need to demand it. There is no need to stop-start ignitions, electric parking brakes, 20-60" inches worth of touch screens, electric climate control, hybrid power packs (laughable performance) that are not reliable, ect. Honestly these features should be offered on premium brands and not integrated into baseline trim levels. These creature comforts come at a great cost by raising the MSRP from the base trim level onward, MFG's want to recoup their money anyway for all that R&D and retooling. For goodness sake there shouldn't be a reason to have all this bloatware on work trucks, its counter intuitive to what a truck represents. Honestly at this point if any of the big 3 made a separate truck line that embodied quality and ruggedness with simplicity it would be a smash hit but executives would never approve of this because it would cannibalize into F-150/250's and 1500/2500's profit margins. As far as the union thing goes I'm sure there are QC issues that are permitted because of union protection but how bad can it be if you really think about it. Most of the critical components are pre-packaged from suppliers. The workers are simply loading in these parts in their respective work line. Do you think a factory worker from Mexico will produce a higher quality vehicle if they were non-unionized? I don't think so, I think it comes down to quality parts, quality control and a monumental shift in company ethos to place an emphasis on quality, after all their reputation is dependent on it.

I certainly wouldn’t buy an EV in anything , And if other people think like I do , then something that is less loaded with gimmicky stuff and an old school drive line that the average joe can reliably drive and if need be service myself. Do I want hi power , higher stressed smaller complex turbocharged engines ? The answer is no , I want a nice simple big lazy under stressed engine that makes reasonable power and will last for many years( it does not need to do 0 to 100 in 3 seconds) , and I’d be happily prepared to pay for the slightly extra fuel used. That’s just me though. I don’t think most people want to put deposit for a house money to buy a dam dual cab.
