It’s amazing, this is the power of God! Immense wisdom and it’s so fascinating. I want to be able to stand up like this and preach the truth in the face of adversity, I struggle with this though. However, I know continuing to stand on my faith will cause me to have no choice but to submit and tell others about my greatest friend- Jesus Christ
@newlywedbeth11 ай бұрын
"My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?" transformed my faith. When I finally realized Jesus was saying the first line of a very popular psalm, and that psalm gets stuck in your mind, you would see in the lyrics a man being beaten, hands and feet pierced, his clothes gambled for, being encircled by his killers, and dying a slow horrible death. Which might explain why as soon as He says it, someone runs and gets a drink on a sponge and gives it to Him. The psalm mentions, "My tongue is parched and sticks to my mouth." How could David know each detail in the death of this man hundreds of years before it happened? Because Jesus is the Messiah. And the choice of words was perfect!

Cliff is where the rubber meets the road. He gets unabashed, real-life questions, & takes them on in such a way as to not be offensive, when we all know, he is operating in not just the realm of a physical arena alone, but a spiritual one, where we also know the gospel is, offensive to a nonbeliever. What a blessing it is to see him hold his own. It becomes especially obvious when watching those individuals appearing to be academics, as they try to toss him curve balls, but can't strike him out. Bravo, & thanks you for sharing these enriching interactions, where we as lay people, can absorb, & hopefully replicate, effective responses to real objections that get tossed to belivers.

In what manner are any of the gospels an _offense_ to me?
@WellWhyNot2002 жыл бұрын
@@theoskeptomai2535In response to the question stating (in what manner are the gospels an offense to me?) the statement was speaking about nonbelievers. I'm going to offer a response, assuming the question was NOT posed as disingenuous. If you are a "nonbeliever", I personally have never met a nonbeliever, who actually, fully accepts the claims of the gospel, of Jesus being God, where it was not offensive. We are not talking about a small "g" god, but Jesus was fully God, & fully man, sent as the only way, to fix, what is broken, which is, the message of the gospel.... May I ask, if you are currently checking out the claims of Christ, before accepting Him? Because the implications conneted with if He is God, if He is the one way to our redemption, we find a spiritual war exists within us, as self, wants to remain God & Lord of our actions, desitions, life, and therefore the claims from the gospel become offensive. The offense remains unless we come to a place where we see Him for who He is, & follow Him. I am sure you understand the internal conflict I speak of if you are a nonbeliever. The Gospel message compels us to pick one, & therein lies the offense if we are a nonbeliever. Again, if the question was NOT posed as disingenuous, then I hope you keep watching, & listening to the honest questions I here being asked, & Clif's responses offered up help, for us to move past whatever stumbling blocks exist in the spiritual warfare going on within us.

@@WellWhyNot200 I am an atheist (nonbeliever) and my question is asked sincerely. Please answer it. In what manner are any of the gospels an _offense_ to me? I once believed absolutely in the truth of the gospel accounts. Now I realize that I had no good reason to believe these accounts to be historical. I realize they are fictitious narratives of a purely apologetic nature.
@WellWhyNot2002 жыл бұрын
@@theoskeptomai2535 You now pose a second question, which is fine. Great, but the first question was given a detailed reply, & your projected hostility makes it pretty clear, that you do have an offense to the gospel, or else why would your second response be structured the way you have done? .... As to you second question listed in your reply, no forum response offers adiquite space to address it, without monopolizing all the digital 0 & 1 that the platform contains, but actually within this message of Clif's above, he takes a serious run at your second question. Perhaps you didn't play it all the way to the end & might go back & do so. To give an exhaustive reply to #2, volumes of publications address this fully.
