I Find it genuinely sad how confidently these people try present themselves in an intelligent way, but in reality, theyre just spewing the same debunkable nonsense over ane over, And then when they start getting their idiotic points counterd, they start bringing personal feelings in and start getting frustrated, which is why I really respect Cliffe. He shows In an amazing way what a Christian should look like. Someone who can handle disrespect and Mockery, but still be respectful, kind, and even replying positively to the other person's points..

@@Theo_Skeptomai That’s not true. I’ve debated & have heard many Atheists who make the claim that not only do they believe there is no God but that the universe came about naturally without a creator which means they believe the universe just erupted here & placed everything in order by itself. In fact, I just had a very long debate with an Atheist a few months ago saying this very thing so no I’m not talking out of ignorance but instead experience. The reason why there is a creator is because of what we have all around us that screams a creator. You’ve never met the person or have seen the person who created the device that your using to get on KZbin to speak to me yet you know that someone created your device. So please don’t sit there & tell me that there is no proof of God when every single day you wake up & look at yourself in the mirror is evidence of His handy work.

@@Theo_Skeptomai 1).The Evidence of God’s existence is shown in the order & design of the cosmos that points to some intelligent mind. 2). Secondly, the evidence is that life comes from life. Life does not come from non life, you do not get animate coming from inanimate. An Atheist believes that life comes from non life, that there is no eternal living being & that basically violates everything in my observation of existence. 100x out of 100 life comes from life. This is why it is far more plausible to believe “In the beginning God”, than it is for me to believe “In the beginning matter & energy”. 3). Another piece of evidence of God’s existence is moral absolutes. Anytime you appeal to something being either morally good or bad, your appealing to a standard that is outside of yourself & the only way that standard exists is that prior to this, some mind outside of the human mind defined & created that standard. 4). Another piece of God’s existence is love. The only way that love has any real value, intangible, non material value is that there is some type of God to create & define that value of love. If there is no God, love is simply a sex drive, love is simply a drive to preserve the genetic pool, that’s all it is if there is no God. My experience in life shows me that there is more to love than just a sex drive or a drive to preserve the genetic pool. These are four pieces of evidence that points to God’s existence

20:34 Constantinople? Council of Nicea under Constantine, as well as the council of Hippo, I think he means. The Corpus was amalgamated from texts from the 1st and 2nd century (as well as way earlier), and wasn’t really “made to fit.” Although, iirc, some books weren’t official canon and were left out: Enoch, Nicodemus, Simon Peter’s revelation, to name a few off the top of my head (still awesome books, though, if you want to do some fun reading that doesn’t take away from the main corpus- if anything, they vibe like expanded appendices). People act like Rome just made it up, when it was moreover a state recognition and ecumenical collaboration. Similar, but also different, to the time when Rome had appropriated the Greek pantheon.

22:13 the only reason the "telephone game" works like that is because people already subconsciously have the presupposition that the original message will be distorted over time from person to person. It's almost as if you inform people that subconsciously a lie is going to form out of a message, they tell a lie to make it happen. Thing is, even if it was a real phenomenon, the Gospels are not subject to that since they were written within the earliest of 30 years after Lord Jesus Christ had ascended to Heaven, and some of the books can be dated to be a little earlier than that. The Gospels are written the earliest from the ecent they are talking about compared to EVERY SINGLE OTHER document in antiquity.

@dcmurphy5157 the telephone game doesn't even truly exist since the game is entirely based on the presuposition that information changes the more its passed along to someone else. And because this game is taught to maliable and ignorant children they of course intentionally change the original message so that the presupposition becomes true. The presupposition being, "Information changes over time and distorts the original message"

I will be fair to Cliffe and say that I understand what he meant, so I don't want this to sound like a nitpick but Cliffe might need to be a bit more careful not to end up in a conflict when he says "life never comes from non-life 100 times out of 100 life comes from life" because, remember, as a theist, he believes in a living eternal being who DIDN'T come from another life form, which means that technically, he is acknowledging that in fact, it is possible for some life form to exist that has not come from another life form. Perhaps he ought to have said ninety-nine times out of a hundred. He, like the overwhelming majority of theists, accepts that somehow.....SOMEHOW (always a strong emphasis on that) the God they believe in just always existed without needing to come from anything else etc. Now, yes, I understand that God is supposed to be the ultimate uncaused cause, that which everything else was caused by but without cause himself, well, that's what defines being God, right? Sure, I get that but as I have said here before, we don't know how that is possible. If we believe in God, then we're supposed to just accept it, which means that God is a mystery that people are using to answer another mystery. People have a tough time accepting that life and rational minds could just come about without another life and rational mind, so many will reason "well, there has to be a God to explain it". OK, well, there has to be an explanation, I'll give them that much, but then, oddly, theists have to accept that this being called God didn't come from anything else and just somehow (again emphasis on SOMEHOW) exists and has always existed without an explanation, or at least one that we can understand. In other words, theists are stating a rule that they are convinced demonstrates why God must exist and yet they are then making that God they believe exists NOT subject to that very rule they are using to demonstrate his existence 🤔

@JacobOfTheOT Hi, Jacob. Thanks for the reply, and yes, that is the whole point of being God, I agree, God is supposed to be the eternal, uncaused cause, I already acknowledged that principle Jacob. The point I was making was we don't know how. We can accept that it is the case but we don't know how. We as finite human beings cannot conceive of a being that had no beginning and no ending, so in order for us to believe in God, we have to believe in what we cannot understand. Let's not try to pretend that we can conceive of it and understand the mechanics of being an eternal uncaused cause. We have to accept the concept of an eternal being within a beginning as a mystery. As for evolution, to be honest, I couldn't care less whether it's true or not, it's got nothing to do with whether or not there is a God. My doubts about God's existence don't hinge on evolution being right. Evolution could be demonstrated to be false tomorrow, but that alone wouldn't automatically make me a theist, I COULD be a theist again one day, sure, but not because of any doubts or problems found in evolution. Best wishes for now.

I’ll never understand why people want an all loving God to hate them, or why someone would wanna deny everything that has to do with God, as if they don’t want Him to exist at all… God didn’t create people just to hate them. If anyone doesn’t believe that God loves them then that means they got something against Him personally and has nothing to do with whether He exists or not. I think people like that are just hurt and misunderstands God and His words, denying absolutely everything to do with Him….

*Miracles and Apotheosis in the Ancient Mediterranean World* *"It should first be noted that miracle stories are not uncommon in the literature of this period.* Ancient people believed in a world permeated by the supernatural and readily accepted stories of miracles and believed in stories of visions and visitors from the world of the divine all the time. *Even very sober and sometimes sceptical historians like Tacitus will pass on accounts of miracles that he clearly accepts and expects his audience to believe as historical.* So when we read stories of how the emperor Augustus was miraculously conceived by the god Apollo, or how his birth was presaged by a new star in the heavens, or how Julius Caesar was seen ascending into the heaven after his death or how Vespasian healed lame and blind people who asked him for a miracle, we accept that these stories represent the kinds of things ancient people genuinely believed about great men. Or we accept that they are at least told to indicate that the man in question was great. *What we don't do is accept that simply because people believed these stories they must mean that they really happened.* And this is even when the stories are presented to us by a very careful historian and given to us as verified fact. Take Tacitus' account of the miracles of the emperor Vespasian: "In the months during which Vespasian was waiting at Alexandria for the periodical return of the summer gales and settled weather at sea, many wonders occurred which seemed to point him out as the object of the favour of heaven and of the partiality of the Gods. One of the common people of Alexandria, well known for his blindness, threw himself at the Emperor's knees, and implored him with groans to heal his infirmity. This he did by the advice of the God Serapis, whom this nation, devoted as it is to many superstitions, worships more than any other divinity. .... And so Vespasian, supposing that all things were possible to his good fortune, and that nothing was any longer past belief, with a joyful countenance, amid the intense expectation of the multitude of bystanders, accomplished what was required. *The hand was instantly restored to its use, and the light of day again shone upon the blind. Persons actually present attest both facts, even now when nothing is to be gained by falsehood."* (Histories, IV, 81) Tacitus was closely connected to the court of Vespasian's sons and successors, Titus and Domitian, and so in a position to know the "persons actually present" and to consult them long after Vespasian's death "when nothing is to be gained by falsehood". He was also a very careful historian who scorned those who took rumour and stories as fact without checking them against sources and eye witnesses and who condemned those who "catch eagerly at wild and improbable rumours in preference to genuine history" (Annals, IV,11). *Despite this, I don't know anyone who would read the account above and conclude that the emperor really had magical healing powers and genuinely used his supernatural abilities to heal people.* The fact that even a judicious and often sceptical analyst like Tacitus accepted this story shows us just how readily people in the ancient world accepted claims of the miraculous. *One form of miracle that was widely believed in was the idea of apotheosis, where a great man is physically taken up in to the heavens and raised to divine status.* It was claimed that Romulus, the founder of Rome, underwent this process and later appeared to his friend Julius Proculus to declare his new celestial status. The same claim was made about Julius Caesar and Augustus, with supposed witnesses observing their ascent into the heavenly realm. Lucian's satire The Passing of Peregrinus includes his scorn for the claim that the philosopher was taken up into the celestial realm and was later seen walking around on earth after his death. The Chariton novel Callirhoe has its hero Chaereas visiting the tomb of his recently dead wife, saying he *"arrived at the tomb at daybreak"* where he *"found the stones removed and the entrance open. At that he took fright."* Others are afraid to enter the tomb, but Chaereas goes in and finds his wife's *body missing* and concludes she has been taken up by the gods." If you want to read how the resurrection legend grew over time, read the below article by Tim O'Neill who is a former Christian and has been studying the scholarship for over 25 years. *Answer* What-evidence-is-there-for-Jesus-Christs-death-burial-and-resurrection/answer/Tim-ONeill-1 - Quora You can also read the below article by a former Christian apologist on how he agrees with the mainstream scholarship that Jesus was a failed apocalyptic prophet. *"ex-apologist: On One of the Main Reasons Why I Think Christianity is False (Reposted)"* Also, how cognitive dissonance possibly explains early Christianity. *“The Rationalization Hypothesis: Is a Vision of Jesus Necessary for the Rise of the Resurrection Belief?”* - by Kris Komarnitsky | Κέλσος - Wordpress *"How do we know that the biblical writers were* ***not*** *writing history? -- by Dr Steven DiMattei"* *"How Did The Gospel Writers Know? - The Doston Jones Blog"* *"Yes, the Four Gospels Were Originally Anonymous: Part 1 - The Doston Jones Blog"* *"Are Stories in the Bible Influenced by Popular Greco-Roman Literature? - The Doston Jones Blog"* *"Gospels Not Written By Matthew, Mark, Luke or John - The Church Of Truth"* *"February 2015 - Escaping Christian Fundamentalism"* - Isaiah 53 *"Jesus and the Messianic Prophecies - Did the Old Testament Point to Jesus? - The Bart Ehrman Blog"* *"Jesus did not fulfill any messianic prophecies - Reductio Ad Absalom"* *"Jesus Was Not the Only “Prophet” to Predict the Destruction of the Temple - Escaping Christian Fundamentalism"*

*The Enuma Elish would later be the inspiration for the Hebrew scribes who created the text now known as the biblical Book of Genesis.* Prior to the 19th century CE, the Bible was considered the oldest book in the world and its narratives were thought to be completely original. In the mid-19th century CE, however, European museums, as well as academic and religious institutions, sponsored excavations in Mesopotamia to find physical evidence for historical corroboration of the stories in the Bible. ***These excavations found quite the opposite, however, in that, once cuneiform was translated, it was understood that a number of biblical narratives were Mesopotamian in origin.*** *Famous stories such as the Fall of Man and the Great Flood were originally conceived and written down in Sumer,* translated and modified later in Babylon, and reworked by the Assyrians ***before they were used by the Hebrew scribes for the versions which appear in the Bible.*** ***In revising the Mesopotamian creation story for their own ends, the Hebrew scribes tightened the narrative and the focus but retained the concept of the all-powerful deity who brings order from chaos.*** Marduk, in the Enuma Elish, establishes the recognizable order of the world - *just as God does in the Genesis tale* - and human beings are expected to recognize this great gift and honor the deity through service. *"Enuma Elish - The Babylonian Epic of Creation - Full Text - World History Encyclopedia"* *"Sumerian Is the World's Oldest Written Language | ProLingo"* *"Sumerian Civilization: Inventing the Future - World History Encyclopedia"* *"The Myth of Adapa - World History Encyclopedia"* Also discussed by Professor Christine Hayes at Yale University in her 1st lecture of the series on the Hebrew Bible from 8:50 to 14:30 minutes, lecture 3 from 28:30 to 41:35 minutes, lecture 4 from 0:00 up to 21:30 minutes and 24:00 up to 35:30 minutes and lecture 7 from 24:20 to 25:10 minutes. Yes, I saw that too and I think most people thought Matt got the better of Cliffe in that debate and I agree but for me, it's not enough just to win a debate. I mean, even if it had been vice versa and Cliffe had wiped the floor with Matt, it still wouldn't necessarily convince me to believe in what Cliffe believes in. All someone winning a debate really tell me is that they are better with words and have more confidence when it comes to talking than the other person. It doesn't actually tell me whether or not their position is the correct one. It could be the case that they are just very good at presenting a load of rubbish. This is where we have to be careful. This is why I don't care so much about 'winning a debate' as I care about whether or not my position is sound. Oh, it might feel good to appear to win an argument against someone, sure, but I'd much rather appear to lose a debate and be right than 'win a debate' only to find out later that I have made a terrible mistake and I reckon many people may one day end up in that situation and will be shocked to find out how wrong they were. Thanks.

We're told that "God has left more than enough evidence for his existence", I'm sure for Bible believing Christians who've been raised to believe it's the inerrant word of God, that may well be true for them, but we live in an age now where we have a much better understanding of the world in which we all live in. For much of human history, that understanding was not available to mankind, so the God hypothesis was the main accepted idea, and that 'God' came in hundreds of different forms, Christianity being one of many.

I appreciate Cliff's approach for the most part... but both past and present, his theology seems to be lacking. There are powerful truths in the Bible that correlate clearly in day-to-day life that answer, reasonably and accurately, the questions that these young individuals are posing. Cliff doesn't typically answer the questions, or does so in a very roundabout way. He doesn't point out the logical or rational breakdowns in their argument, or hold them to account at all for their statements - rather, he takes a thread and runs with it. He speaks the truth, but his approach tends to be wildly counterproductive. If someone says to me, "So you're saying Hitler could have given his life to Christ before he died, and now he's in heaven?" a plausibly better response would have been, "Technically, yes, but realistically, not likely. Yes, God has extended forgiveness to every human in existence, but in order to connect to that grace, they have to extend their faith to Jesus and acknowledge their sins. In all likelihood, individuals like Hitler were so buried in their sins, their hatred, their evil, that their hearts had become hardened. I find it highly likely that at some point in Hitler's life, he had been immersed so thoroughly in deception and committed so completely to evil, that he past the personal point of no return - where though God's forgiveness through Christ would still be extended to him, there was no way he would have accepted or even considered it." Instead, Cliff responds and deviates, never really answering the question the young man was getting at. I like Cliff, but he has a handful of key speaking points that he adheres to, and no matter what the question is, he often goes with one of those approaches. It can be frustrating to watch.

Through viewing evidence in reality, God’s plan is to make a world with tough problems that can be solved by unity and effort. It is a story played out millions of times in recorded history. It is defined in language that God is a greater mind than the human mind. Ask yourself what are you doing to contribute to the unity and effort under God?

@@awatchman-um7vy Far from nonsense and it is very Biblical. If God isn’t the being who promotes maximal great good and work that would leave area for some other being to do it better, there isn’t. Ephesians 4:28 “He who steals must steal no longer; but rather he must labor, performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with one who has need.” Acts 20:35 “In everything I showed you that by working hard in this manner you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

@@boltrooktwo ,....What you stated was not at all Biblical. The God of the Bible is absolutely the one who has created all things and given the Godless world the Bible, the only truth it has. However, what the guy in the video and you spoke is not the truth of the Bible. It is the unbiblical nonsense of the apostate church and its counterfeit christianity. The entire church is apostate and sells a 100% false manmade gospel and christianity. Cliffs freewill gospel is a 100% false manmade fraud. Cliff does not at all understand the Bible, the Bibles gospel, nor the Bible Christianity. And neither do you.

@@jasonnoble7302 And how did I demonstrate that? Where’s the evidence? Where do your standards come from? Do I belong to a different culture than you that teaches different values so you are calling millions of people something denigrating from your personal self-righteous virtue signaling? I’m from a culture that tells you that stealing, murdering, and lying is punishable, is that morally bankrupt? The only thing that is bankrupt is your paranoid straw man of me from your feverish intolerant mind Jason. You don’t win rational fair arguments so like many other hard atheists you’ve regressed into nonsense ridicule as your primary form of expression.

That first guy is so deluded that it’s sad really. He will make claims about morality, he will say he rather love rather than hate and yet deny there’s a God or that this invisible “force” does not require anything of him and he should not bow down to it. Without lies, atheism dies.

When people leave Jesus Christ in these episodes they always come from the false teachings of Catholicism. Jesus died and rose for people to have a personal relationship/ fellowship with Him and God the Father. Only God forgive sins for eternity not men, only one mediator according to the Bible. Just 14:6👑 1 Timothy 2:5 🙏 “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus”

Here is an important answer that Cliffe is missing. The word for "eternal" hell is aion and can just mean age. In Matthew 24 the disciples ask Jesus what will be the signs of the end of this world. World is aion here. So you gotta keep in mind that certain people had motives geared towards keeping people afraid of burning forever and making you pay $ for your own salvation. Luke 16 mentions a gulf. There is a good side and a bad side. Think to yourself. How could we enjoy heaven if all of the goody goodies are on one side and right next store there's a boiling pit of lava where people are not just burning for billions of years, but trillions upon trillions of years. How could a loving God allow that? And how could we enjoy heaven if one of our loved ones didn't make it? No, after the 1000 years they are blotted out. It's as if they never existed. Gone from our memories and gone from our lives for good. They burn up like fat to a spiddle and the smoke of their ashes go up forever and ever. Revelation 20:14 “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”God is a consuming fire and I'm not saying He is that lake of fire, but he indeed can destroy the soul. The boy has 18 years of religion under his belt and still can't understand that God is love and servitude toward God is to follow His commands and help others. He then goes to do just that "independent" of God and is yet still serving God because that's what He told us to do. The only difference? He didnt accept God. Some logic there bro

When it’s said there’s good in the world, it’s assumed evil exists which assumes a moral law to differentiate good & evil, which assumes a moral law giver; no moral law giver? => no moral law => no good => no evil =>no actual morality Do you think you're a good person? Have you ever lied(Exodus 20:16)? looked at someone with lust(Exodus 20:14/Matthew 5:28))? used God's name in vain(Exodus 20:7)? These are just three of the commandments (Exodus 20), we all fall short (Romans 3:23) & defy the God who created the universe (Genesis 1:1). The wages of this sin is death, physically (Romans 6:23a) & eternally (Hebrews 9:27). If God judges you by His standard when you die? where will you go? Christ Jesus (John 1:1), the Son of God in the Triune Godhead (Matthew 28:19) was born of a virgin by the Holy Spirit (God, see Matthew 28:19, 1:18 & Luke 1:35) to die for our sins (John 3:16/Romans 5:8/Romans 6:23b), taking the punishment we deserve on Himself freely(2 Corinthians 5:21). If you repent of our sins (turning away, not just saying sorry & playing the hypocrite going back to it) & trust in Jesus for our right standing with God (Mark 1:15), we are justified in God's sight, absolved of our sins (Isaiah 1:18), a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). God says whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13). All other religions are works based, Jesus said "I am the way, the truth & the life, no one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6), no other religion claims that, please consider His unique, free offer of eternal life & a clean slate, transformed by the Holy Spirit (Romans 12:2).
