Great photography and effort ! It's good you take such good precautions, unfortunately many tourists in Iceland dont do that and end up seriously injured or dead. Know the terrain and weather before you venture to the wild because nature is much stronger than yourself !

+Nicola Cosmin You can use ice screws to drill a pair of holes that connect through the ice and run the rope through it (while attached directly to another ice screw) for use as your last anchor in a situation like that.
