It's a nice thing to hear that it's a good sign and a sign of strong attachment. I was afraid i did something wrong and my little one is insecure.

No I think it's so precious but sad how much my munchkins attached to me. Although I'll admit, I feel weird leaving her w/ her great GPA. Or the ex in laws. I kind of feel like ish for not doing this lovey dovey thing w/ them. But they're such a huge reason as to why her dad's crap. Don't tell me u love me when all those xs u acted toxic & expected me to pick up all the pieces, while trying to continue trampling on me. Sigh, it's a process... & I just really don't trust anyone. Plus, his voice is so loud & carries. I just question everybody. My baby for real cries when I leave her though. Tears rolling down that little face of hers & all. I just smile at how cute she is while my heart breaks & I just hafta go on about my days. But she's so happy when she sees me. That smile stays on for a good bit too. Little chunky face w/ dimples & teef teefs 🥰

You have the best parenting tips and tricks on youtube! You literally think of everything! This video, like your other videos, hit home - especially this one! I was so boggled by my baby’s extreme clinginess all of a sudden (when she was generally super happy around the other care givers) - any time I would leave the room. This was around the time she mastered the object permanence ball in hole skill. This has lasted close to 3 weeks- she seems to be getting better. Thank you for all of this great info and a sense of validation!!!

My son is 3 and it started after going to the nursery. One big mistake i made (and nursery staff encouraged me to do it, unfortunately) was that when my son was playing, i sneaked out without saying bye. This made him extremely anxious, he now started following me into every room and bathroom, which he didn't do before.

Hi Emma, I love your videos! I think it would be interesting to see a video about the baby feelings. For example when you have a baby that cries when left playing next to you but not with you. When they want to sit but you need to change a diaper and the baby gets fussy. When you see the frustration in the baby of not being able to do something. When a baby fights sleep. And other moments that make the baby upset and how to deal with them :)
@katroseravingotaku2 жыл бұрын
Was looking for advice on this as well.
@trolojolo6178 Жыл бұрын
Simple, take the kid with you and let him participate/assist in what you are doing right now. Let him help you like asking him for giving you a tissue or a diaper. My girls love to help me where ever they can. If your kid is older and is able to communicate. Give him a false sense of a choice. Which both will benefit yourself. I give you a example, if your child doesn't want to go to bed, give him two options, either he goes to bed alone, or he can choose to go to bed with you cuddling him. Sometimes when my girls are fuzzy to put on a shirt or pants, I ask if she wants to do it by herself, or if she can put it on by herself. And it works, every time. Talking and explaining is the key. If your child doesn't responds the first couple times, be patient. It will come sooner or later. And if nothing works, take your kid with you and let it be with you. Some kids need the close contact with their parents. The world is big and scary. All it wants is the sense of security and being loved. And this should not be punished under any circumstances. Hope my single dad knowledge can help you.

My son is 8 months old. About two weeks ago, we tried to go over to my MIL's house for dinner. He's never been there before (she lives in a different town), and he's only seen her and my hubby's stepdad a few times. She of course wanted to hold him soon after we got there, and that resulted in him crying inconsolably for nearly 15 minutes. This gave me a major anxiety attack, I just wanted to take him and leave. He was probably tired (he'd only had about a 20 minute nap, in the car), and the only thing that really got him to calm down was a bottle (I believe it was a little early for food at that point but it did calm him down). After that, he was fine to just stay with me and play on his mat that we'd brought. However, she tried to hold him again, and he again started crying. How do we combat this? He cried that time for about 5 minutes, until my hubby started playing with him by whooshing him into the air. Needless to say, I'm extremely anxious now about going back over there, and we have plans to go there for Thanksgiving :/

It actually started as soon i started sleep training, and he now wont let me eveb put him down, i have to be holding him most of the time. Do you think its related to sleep training and would you still think its a phase or is there something i can do. PS sleep training was a gentle one day thing not a long traumatic experience and he goes to sleep happily without fussing so i dont think he’s traumatized.

How do you know if it's not just separation anxiety? My son is almost 12 months but has been like this since about 8 months. I am a single mum so he spends all day with just me. He's only spent an hour away from me in 6 months. He starts daycare next week and I'm so worried he won't cope. We have been doing visits to try and help and he'll start with half days. When we're at home though he cries every time I leave his sight and crawls after me. Sometimes he'll cry when I move away from him even if he can still see me. He also started not wanting to sleep in his cot at the same time and wanting to sleep in my bed.

8 months daycare? What is wrong with all of you. Almost every second person here says the same. This is insanity. Why did you choose in the first place to have a child when you don't want to spend time with it? It's your responsibility to raise a child not of a daycare worker. For my part, I'm just a divorced father and rasing my girls alone. I would never bring over my soul to leave my children at a daycare at such a young age. This is so wrong on many levels. I dropped my job to be there for my girls 24/7. What my ex wife is not ready to sacrifice.
@alexandraclough4074 Жыл бұрын
@trolo jolo Not everyone is able to leave their job. We have bills to pay....they don't pay themselves!!! You have no idea nor is it your business, why parents choose to put their little ones into care. Stop being so harsh. Your comments are so unkind. I hope your girls don't see them.

@EmmaHubbard3 жыл бұрын
Hi @Nikita some babies do display separation anxiety as early as 4 to 5 months of age, but it tends to be strongest/peak at around 9 months of age. I would say your little one is seeking your reassurance when she is interacting with other adults and making sure you are still present.

What about a 1 month old? He refuses to stay with my mom and we live without th her. He cries until I get him back from her and then boom silence. She’s super sweet too idk why he hasn’t taken to her yet

Hi Emma, my 16 month old has just started waking up screaming for mum or dad and won't settle for an hour or two. Her routine hasn't changed. We recently visited family where we had to share a room. Could this have contributed? I'm at a loss of what to do. I've tried comforting, white noise, crying out etc but she's always slept through so this is really rough now. I'm questioning whether it is even separation anxiety as we have spells in the day where she's okay in another room......please offers any advice

I made a mistake by sending my 2 year old to nursery for straight 3 hours and 5 hours without settling him to the nursery also another mistake was I did not say good bye. He now has developed fear and is very clingy and don’t want to be in the place where children are playing. Any suggestions

Hi. My baby is 17months old and still have seperation anxiety to a point i cant do anything in the house. Its very stressful, i thought its just a phase but it has been so long since it started which is when she was 5 months old. Is this normal? What else can i do? But these tips really good, thank you so much. I hope she will get over this phase soon.

8-12 months? Mine began this sort of behavior last week, at 2 months. Crying if we left, calling us back to him. Smiling when he sees us. What does this imply for his development??

My little one is 7 months and I have to be woth him pretty much all day. This is earlier then you said. Should I seek a doctors opinion or is this still normal at this age?
@EmmaHubbard3 жыл бұрын
It can start earlier - as with all development. If your little one is happy when you are with them then I wouldn't be concerned.

@@EmmaHubbard he is a very happy, cheeky little man when I am with him.. Thank you so much for posting this I was actually speaking to my sister and asking her what I am doing wrong. This has reassured me its normal a s it will pass.

Oh the joys of parenting. Going to the bathroom by yourself is so hard to get when you have kids. 🤣

My sister in laws daughter is almost two and I feel like her separation anxiety is really bad. She’s very attached to her mom and even cries when she hands her to her own father. Not just sometimes but every time. Is this normal as well? Honestly I’ve never seen a child react the way she does when her mom simply goes to shower.

Does she breast feed or did she previously?
@EmmaHubbard3 жыл бұрын
Hi @Lizzy Garcia separation anxiety does pop up multiple times throughout their first few years of life. My 2 and a half year old is going through it again the last few weeks- only wants me and not keen to go to dad. If your niece previously went to her dad without concern and this is a newish behaviour I wouldn’t be concerned. But if she has only ever been happy to be with her mum and cries when she is with other family member and your sister is concerned then a doctor would be a good person to talk to.
@Liz-gg6mu3 жыл бұрын
@@EmmaHubbard it’s not new behavior. She’s been that way for a while now.

@@someperson5199 yes she’s still breastfeeding
@someperson51993 жыл бұрын
@@Liz-gg6mu I’m no expert, but I believe breast feeding makes the baby very close to momma. And if she’s still breast feeding at 2 years old then she’s gonna be really attached to her momma. But with time I’m sure she’ll get closer to her dad.

Is this thing possible in 4-5 months of age? I can't even leave the room and go to the toilet without my little one crying 😟
