This is one of the best story arcs in art. How a bumbling, weak willed nice guy turned out to be such a megalomaniacal killer and how subtly that change happened is just genius.
@mitromneyАй бұрын
Genius? You mean retarded right? Please say you're kidding. Breaking Bad is an awesome show, because of many brilliantly written, complex characters like Jesse, Gus, Hank, Mike and others, but Walt is NOT one of them. Walt's character flips between a crybaby weakling, a wannaby Godfather mobster and a chemistry geek comic relief all the time throughout the show. Until the very end. It's undy whities comedy and then guns blazing. Crying over your wife shouting at you and then poisoning a kid. Stuttering awkwardly as you get exposed by Hank and then ordering 10 hits at once. Walt's character has no consistency or an arc. He was made into conveniance from season one, we are supposed to laugh at him, feel for him, and fear him all at the same time, and that just doesn't work, sorry. If you really felt respect towards him in this scene, right after he awkwardly mumbles with Mike in a car and gets screamed at as if he was still a second fiddle, I don't know what to tell you, but you have low standards. Walt isn't a character, he is a plot device. That's it.

This whole scene has legendary status I think. The slow build, the way their cockiness turns into nervousness as it dawns on them who he is, and then finally that near-whispered "you're Heisenberg" reply and Walt's menacing growl "you're God damned right." The first time I saw this it gave me chills. To me this is the moment we fully see Walt's transformation into the dark creature we've seen growing over the course of the show. Mr. White is gone, now there is only Heisenberg.

This show taught me some serious life lessons. Police can't arrest you for things they think you might do, only for things you've already done, or have credibly threatened to do. In other words, if you just shut up and keep your head down, nobody can stop you. Literally. They can only try to catch up after you're done.

@@7sinEqualsHsinTheUserName. Not at all, it's a lesson that you need to conceal-carry because you need to be your own first responder. The alternative is to hold up a hand and say "Excuse me sir, I'm not prepared for violence today, will you wait while I call police and report this assault in progress?"
@alainportant641212 күн бұрын
@@7sinEqualsHsinTheUserName. It's poor crime advice. Law enforcement can be on your ass even without arresting you and especially if you didn't actually do anything yet. They have mass electronic surveillance and most likely predictive models fed with all of your data. I won't even get into informants but entrapment is a thing and some even have quotas that they need to meet and so on. If you're up to no good, you're already on a list. "Shutting your mouth and keeping your head down" was good crime advice in the 1920's maybe but today it's just not good enough anymore, and if you think like that, you will get caught. There are so many parameters at play that you will get caught, especially if we're talking organized crime. That's what those KZbin mobsters like Merlino and Franzese will tell you : it's virtually impossible to not get caught these days so you might as well just do podcasts. You want good advice ? You effed up the audio. I've watched this scene at least 200 times, so I know it well. If you compare to the original, your audio has a hollow sound to it that makes it seem as if it doesn't belong to the video. I think that you undersampled the audio when you exported, because the alternative is that you used noise reduction, and that doesn't make sense unless you captured the audio with a microphone, which is absurd. Regardless, we know for sure that you exported the audio/video because you added a worthless beginning/ending video sequence and watermark. Protip: when choosing settings to export with, right-click on the original video file and select "properties," then go to the "details" tab. There you will see two sections, "video" and "audio." Never ever choose export values that are less than what you see in the "video" and "audio" sections.
