I thought Hayden did very well. Matt definitely added to Anakin's character because i think the dialogue for the character was better written for The Clone Wars then the prequels. Anakin is definitely my favorite character. I hope you and Matt voice your characters for Battlefront 2. Already have Dee Bradley Baker, Matthew Wood, and Sam Witwer. Just need you guys!

I thought Hayden was fantastic as Anakin, no disrespect to Matt but I felt he was unfitting for Anakin and the only man who can play him(at least to me)is Hayden and the only reason everyone prefers Matt is because of the writing NOT the character himself.

Andrew Stokes Yeah. Its also how Matt was directed by Dave Filoni, who arguably is one of the best directors of the star wars universe. Hayden was directed poorly by George. I think with proper direction, he could be redeemed in the eyes of the prequels haters/OT purists. I'm hoping he comes back for Episode 8. Which from what has been rumored/leaked, he will be. Like you said, Hayden shouldn't get blamed. It was out of his control. I mean look at all of his other movies such as Shattered Glass. I love his performance in that movie.

God this makes me sad... These actors are so humble, and so amazing, and it truly means something with how close they hold the show to their hearts. They truly are dedicated to their characters, the show, and their fellow cast members; it's all around just beautiful. The show was SO well written, and SO well done, the Series is a genuine masterpiece. My heart has been broken since the news of its cancellation. Disney, I am sorry to say this, but they are a VERY selfish company. They canceled a show in which had/had SOOOO many fans, in whom were incredibly passionate about. Even after years of demand, Disney has still given us nothing back. They didn't even have the decency to let them finish admitting and editing the last episodes that were released, or to let them finish the Season. To this day I hold it against Disney for their decision to do this to fans of Star Wars. They destroyed so many great aspects of the Star Wars Universe upon their arrival, and canceling The Clone Wars was one of the biggest blows. I am STILL not over it. Seeing these cast members come together to discuss this beautiful show makes me so happy, I miss them dearly. I still wish this show would come back, though it most likely never will. I miss this show so much, it truly meant a lot to me both growing up, and in my life entirely. I may sound a bit sour for holding it against Disney the way I do, but at the end of the day, it is on them. Forgive me for the negativity, but I can't forgive them for taking this show away the way they did.

Ugh I relate so hard, I actually kinda grew up with the clone wars (I’m guessing most of the original fans started it as teenagers) but I literally got (and still am) emotionally attached to this show. I literally prefer the Anakin portrayed in the clone wars than in the prequels. Although it’s an unpopular opinion, I feel Hayden is a wonderful actor but the way George has him portrayed was more of an emotional reck that you couldn’t get attached to. But Matt’s portrayal had you getting the feeling of a funny, sincere, protective, big brother like guy that gave you a sense of safety and love. I think growing up with the series made me feel like I knew the characters. I agree so much with how Matt said that they gave Anakin more depth and showed you his transition from emotional teenager to experienced Jedi to the baddest villain in the galaxy. Really the series broke your heart to see this amazing character loose everyone he loved and become evil thinking he’d save the people he destroyed. The Clone Wars gave fans a new perspective on the villains and see them as people. Disney stopping it broke my heart, but thank god, it’s back!! #CloneWarsSaved After 5 dang years

Clone Wars Anakin will always be different than Film Anakin for many reasons. Many people fail to realize this, but films reflect very critical periods of Anakin's life and are the reasons he acts the way he does. In episode 2, we see a powerful young man doing what he's always dreamed of doing, but on a well-worn dog's leash. He's ready to become a knight and move on. I relate to this because I am still a tech waiting to get into physical therapy school and become a "knight" myself. However, I did not get into school and have to spend yet another year answering to a "master" before I am truly on my own. In addition to that, Anakin is reunited with his old love again and is shocked to realize that the Jedi and the teachings that he once placed so much value in are actually flawed once he realized there was nothing wrong with him for feeling love for padme and something wrong with the order. Then in Episode 3, we see an experienced hero suffering from critical PTSD and manipulation from people he thinks he can trust all the while watching everyone he loves be in constant danger all the time, and becoming more and more aware of his infallible Jedi becoming more and more fallible. Therefore, OF COURSE HE ACTS THE WAY HE DOES! This is what prequel haters fail to realize and blame on bad acting and writing. But it makes perfect sense. He was able to be written and played differently in clone wars because at that period of Anakin's life, he had everything: Jedi knighthood (which he had wanted his whole life), independence, a real friendship with a master he loved and respected, a kickass Padawan and beautiful wife. His PTSD was just beginning to form but had not taken hold of him yet until the later seasons as his dark moments become more and more prominent. But in the early seasons, we see him with everything he ever wanted and constantly kicking ass with his brothers and sisters in arms, and coming home to a beautiful wife at the end of the day. So THAT's why he is so different in Clone Wars then in the films, and if you ask me, it's perfect that we got to see Anakin like that.

Yes. We see Anakin in the films at critical points in his life and George wisely selects times that gives an accurate and broad perspective on the character with as little time as possible and I find it to be a very compelling image. Christensen especially gives Anakin a lot of depth and I relate to him more in the films than the clone wars becuase I also understand him especially his inner conflict which I think has been with Anakin most of his life even into his years as Darth Vader.

Stephanie Loverde the problem with the dialogue is not the story it’s telling, but how it’s written. It’s the same content, just not written well at all. The characters talk like bargain-bin Shakespeare and it comes off as odd and really cringey. Everything you said about the story is correct. No one is arguing how good the story is or how Anakin is feeling, it’s just the way it’s delivered to the audience.

In response to Matt's point about the voices being higher in the clone wars, that was absolutely a thing, and I'd argue that JAT and Ashley did it as well. I'd watched seasons 1-6 before even realizing there was a movie, so I went back and watched the movie, and everyone's voices were noticeably higher.

Another great episode. Your level of passion for this project astonishes me and your longing for more Clone Wars is so palpable. But, and I may be spoiled here because every episode until now shared practically every opinion of mine, I think Hayden's performance should be given more credit. He plays what he is supposed to be like in those specific episodes of the Star Wars saga. You can definitely see the TCW's Anakin in the beginning of episode III. Anakin is what he is. At war he is a warrior, a guy who is genuinely good and inspire his friends to accomplish wonders (I made him sound like Superman almost). But he is just incapable of fighting his own wars and ends up losing. At the end it is all just a matter of opinion, but I think a genuine human heart is there in the two Anakin versions that we got.

The Clone Wars was what really got me into Star Wars. I had watched the movies as a kid, but it wasn't until I began watching the Clone Wars, with its creative story telling, impressive world (galaxy?) building and fun characters that I really got hooked into Star Wars and became a fan (especially of Obi-Wan and Ahsoka). I really love these videos, they remind me of that same feeling I got when I first watched TCW.

These videos are great. I've only watched the Sam Witwer and now these segments with Matt Lanter, but they've allowed me to appreciate clone wars much more. I've personally never been a huge fan of them(some episodes were fun, I just felt alot of things contradicted main plot lines of the movies). @James Arnold taylor First off a great conversation looking forward to the next part don't know if there is anything you can do for future recordings but Matt's shirt was having an issue with sharpness when he moved cause of the pattern. Don't know if you have this or not but a small clothing rack of camera friendly clothing in your studio might be useful. Also you talked about the banter between Obi Wan and Anakin which is a key part of their relation and a beloved part is well. And my favourite lines are the first lines you ever say to each other from the opening of the 2008 film. Anakin: They're back! Obi Wan: I told you this victory was too easy, I knew we shouldn't of sent the ships back for more supplies. Anakin: It wasn't my idea to send the ships back. Those lines showed off the banter you had and did a solid job of really setting up your relationship. And it was fun to watch that relationship grow and develop over the course of the show. Keep up the good work with these. Not sure on who you have lined up or already recorded, Would be nice to get Dee, Tom, Phill LaMarr, and Terrence Carson.

I'm only now getting around to finally watching this amazing series and I'm so glad to see you got Matt on the show! Awesome interview James. Glad to hear Clone Wars is back. Rebels was +/- 0K, the new Resistance show I don't even want to see, but Clone Wars really delved into SW lore and gave a better portrayal of Anakin as it had more time to show his complexity and "growing-up" process. Every guest needs to do a Dave Filoni impression so you can make some supercut of everyone's impression of him. Also yes. Behind the scenes talk yes! We need more on how Voice Acting goes in studios and on projects like that (Though I know its unique largely because of Dave Filoni giving much more context then other projects but still), that'd be awesome. Like what Lord of the Rings did with all the behind the scenes and interviews and super in-depth
