Delightful interview. I’m struck how beliefs about life after death have varied, from the writing of the Book of Kings, to the time of the Sadducees/Pharisees to Maimonides to the present, and how the beliefs of many theists now, are directly traceable to those archaic beliefs. I would have liked to hear what Rabbi Hyman himself believed, as a Rabbi, and a scholar of these various historical beliefs.

I think the interviewee mixed up Aristotle’s idea of the soul with Plato’s. Was it not Plato who believed the soul to be a disembodied spirit after death?

There is no life after death. New life allows humans to evolve into a better form with each generation.

Really! No life after death? What was your state before you were born? Tell me the difference between the pre-born state and the after life state. All living things were essentially dead before they were alive. So, to say there is no life after death is incorrect.
