This scene was seen by most to be comedic relief, but I found it just as symbolic and important as any of the timelines in the book/movie. Mr. Meeks was thought of as the outcast; the weak link in the friend group at the nursing home. They could’ve just as easily left Mr. Meeks behind and not risked turning around and getting caught, but they didn’t. They risked their freedom to save their own because they are good. Then Mr. Meeks, who they thought was a meek (pun intended) member of the group ended up being the most courageous one of them all, which created the ripple effect of them escaping, leading to his story being depicted as a movie, leading the waitress to discover his movie, motivating her to seek her own freedom, and eventually to the rest of mankind

Justin Kalman This commemt is four years old. Nevertheless I would like to answer to it quickly 😅 The thing I like about it is that in every video of a different timeline there is always one comment like this, telling in their opinion the movie could be only about this timeline. That tells me that Cloud Atlas did a very wonderful job, and that none of the timeline is dull, but always appeals to different people. It shows, how great the movie is. 😊

That's why I love this film. One minute, it's a gritty sci-fi story set in a futuristic dystopian Korea and then in the next it's a light-hearted comedy, following a group of British pensioners as they attempt to break out of an old people's home.
@mattgieslerrocks2 жыл бұрын
I think all of the plots in the movie would have worked as stand alone films. It seems like each plot in Cloud Atlas was a condensed version of all of them if they were stand alone movies. A part of me wishes the producer and director made Cloud Atlas as a six movie series instead of one for more box office revenue and world building around Cloud Atlas as a whole.
