My problem is that they didn't keep the same found footage style with the other movies

That"s because the other two weren't Cloverfield movies. They were miscellaneous sci-fi movies that had the name "Cloverfield" slapped on along with little references to the first in order to sell them off of brand recognition and to give off the impression of a connected universe. 10 Cloverfield Lane has nothing to do with the first beside a possible tie between John Goodman and Tagurato added in after the fact, Paradox was a separate script named " God Particle" that got shoehorned into the Cloververse, and, if the rumors are to be believed, 2018's Overlord almost suffered the same fate.

I have an idea on how the "found footage" from Apollo 18 made it back to Earth. You know how the initial Apollo 11 Moon landing was live streamed to the public when the astronauts got out of the lander? My theory is that the Apollo 18 footage was live streamed to the DoD and they recorded it as they were receiving it live. The Apollo 18 mission was years later after Apollo 11, so the camera tech would of improved by a decent amount by then; especially if the equipment was made by the DoD.

12:21 There was a deleted ending from Apollo 18 where one of the characters manages to come back to earth unscathed while his friend dies outside the pod, it then cuts to an FBI or CIA interview with him where he explains the whole thing and they… y’know do government stuff with it. I don’t know why they went with the other ending.

Man, that scene on the street with the National Guard was fucking awesome. I mean, they thought that if you throw bigger and bigger stuff at Clover, that it will kill it and if we talking about a say....human sized enemy, that would be true. But against this ugly son of a bitch, nope. AT4s didn't worked, neither did Saint Javelin. They shoot it with 120mm rounds, depleted uranium Kinetic Penetrators. You know those long, hard rods that are ribbed for her pleasure in the middle. IT DID NOTHING. They may missed one shot that hammered through ten cars, but the monster was A-OKAY. 155mm artillery, just made it angry. Inviting Northrops Doritos of Dead to the Big Apple to unleash a truckload of Mark 82 bombs, carpet style....made it even angrier. Then came the nuke. Just a small, bite sized tactical nuke. Nothing dramatic, but strong enough to make my day....giant fucker was still alive and believe it or not, SUPER ANGRY. What now? The big ones? Glassing New York City and transforming the Hudson River into the Hudson Basin? I am truly afraid of that thing and so should you guys. Also, deep sea crab thingies? Not cool Clover, not cool. See a Doctor, you giant baby monster.

I loved the slusho lore as a kid, the stuff meets godzilla lol. Idk if this is how to make requests, but in other kaiju news, “Sympathy for the monster” by curious archive is a good breakdown of godzilla

11:58 I’m gonna have to disagree hard here. The Found Footage genre is far from dead and is doing fine to this day. I’m not gonna deny that a lot of it is cheep slop, but I do sometimes love me some slop.

There was one thing Pointless Hub left out. JJ Abrams did an interview where he said the sequel would be the same event told from a different person/camera. When they are just getting on the bridge and Rob turns to Hud and asks Are you still recording ?" Just a second before another guy with a camera stares and points a camera at Hud. Its only a second but that was going to the POV of the sequel/other take of the attack. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZTSaYCjgraGa9E

Currently in the alien universe the creators said you can make up your own mind and calls it “bar room cannon” which is described as a Space Trucker and Colonial Marine meeting in the bar and talking about Xenomorph sightings which is what I really like! This means all the Kenner Toy Alien comics can be considered cannon like the flying alien queen!

Yeah even tho the rng lore was cool I believe Clover being an alien is just easier to understand and figure out if you JUST watch the movie Also yes sometimes you just gotta disagree with your own favorite author if what they say is canon or not. Remember the Joker movie never had a sequel

At first I didn’t really like Cloverfield, I was born a bit too late for the cultural context, and I was well into found footage fatigue at the time, but I like the theories and the culture surrounding the movie. If it helps contribute anything, my headcanon to help consolidate JJ’s bad opinions is that maybe the seabed’s nectar drilling op is what attracted the alien invasion to the planet, then, as it was still underway, the egg hatches and Clover eats NY.

Work/official canon is only canon. Interviews with the authors?! The same funny chemical addictions that make them highly creative that get abused widely in Hollywood also makes them useless or even toxic for confirming, or contradicting the work's lore.

For me cloverField was what 1999 Godzilla should have done. They should have stuck with the view from the news caster, they even could have kept the babay zillas and it still would have worked.

I couldn’t get into Cloverfield on account that I simply just don’t like found footage movies. That said, the creature itself is interesting to look at and it’s not really too surprising a lot of kaiju afterwards got inspired by it (Pacific Rim kaijus, some Godzilla/Kong MonsterVerse ones here and there, etc). Also “Legends” is the real Star Wars and stop involving Jar Jar Abrams in literally anything.

I will be honest, this is a thing I believed back when Lost is on TV, and it's a motto that I've taken with me and has served me well my whole life: JJ Abrams is full of shit and you can never believe a word out of his mouth. He's a terrible writer, a terrible show runner, and he needs to stay in his fucking lane.

Hot take....I liked the 1998 godzilla movie. I thought it was interesting take on godzilla and it entertained me. It's not a bad movie, but not the best. The actors did a good job. If you remove the idea of the monster being godzilla and godzilla's lore; it's actually a decent sterotypical giant monster movie.

It really wasn’t awful. As a monster movie, it was done really well especially in a found footage style. It’s just that the other movies got way worse to the point where they weren’t needed at all
