"Pacific Rim is a movie straight out of the mind of a nerdy ten-year-old." Dude, my little brother was drawing giant monsters with chainsaw hands and circular saw tongues destroying cities when he was *five.* Granted, he might have added the mechs when he was about ten.

I love that there's strategy on the Kaiju side that isn't really focused on in the movie. Cherno Alpha is the oldest Jaeger still in service, so the hivemind had plenty of time to figure out its weakness. Crimson's biggest strength was its third arm, which is easy enough to counter by having something similar. The fact that Striker Eureka is both the newest AND has the highest kill count shows that the Kaiju were specifically targeting it to try and figure it out. When the humans somehow accessed their hivemind they sent Otachi, a Kaiju they had already specifically designed to take down Cherno and Crimson, to hunt down the one that accessed the hivemind. The other (Leatherback?) was there to shut down Striker and seemingly study it, rather than immediately destroy it. They had already designed these two Kaiju to hard counter all three Jaegers they knew of still in operation. They were holding them back until they could surprise them and take everything at once, and they only lost because there was another they were unaware of.

Gurren Lagann is a mech anime where, starting in the second half of the show, the mechs get bigger and bigger until they're so big that they hurling galaxies around like shuriken and, in the movie, so big that a galaxy many times larger than the shuriken galaxies is only as big as the main mech's foot. Also the final clash absorbs the entire universe and then spits it back out.
@MrReich1918 Жыл бұрын
Fun fact, those are actually universes. The creator of the show just didn't know how to draw universes.

... When Ressurgence came out, I just wanted to punch something. ANYTHING! Edit: Ron Pearlman, in the movie, got eaten by a Kaiju baby, but after the credits he comes out looking for his missing shoe.

Titanfall 2 deserved better appreciation. It is one of the best first person shooter games to exist and people took it for granted. I wonder how well those Kaijus would last against a giant tank like the Bolo Mk.33. This tank is the giant tank of giants tanks to the giant mechs. And it has the firepower to make a giant monster into vaporized ashes.

I know you could say that it kinda doesn't work since its not properly explained but the whole part where the 3 jeagers get destroyed happened because of the drift that Charlie did. The aliens learned how the jeagers work and sent kaiju made specificaly to counter them. Speed and agility to outmanuever and kill Crimson. Acid to get through Chernos armour. And an emp to shut down Striker.

I imagine Newt's tattoos of the kaijus were symbols of victory against them. In real life, it'd be like a guy having a 9/11 tattoo as a symbol of what he fights to avenge.

Even in daylight, the CGI looked great. Gipsy Danger crashing down at the Alaskan coast after a nightlong horror ride back home, is imprinted in my mind as one of the most awesome scenes I've ever seen (don't worry, the list is long and not sorted in any way). But yes, what that movie is making it shine is the way those behemoths move. You can feel the weight, no, you believe that there is weight behind them. And the camera positions. They are stationary, tethered, grounded, they let you feel the awe, like a Space Marine in Warhammer, these view of a Jaeger striding by probably make you shitting your pants. Unfortunately, the sequel has flying cameras on speed and cocain and both the Jaegers and Kaiju move like this was an episode of Power Rangers. Which doesn't make me angry, but disappointed.

The Pacific Rim anime The Black is surprisingly pretty decent. Yeah, it is implied to be after Uprising but it tries extremely hard to pretend it didn’t happen.

2:46 I guessing you've never heard of Super Sentai the original Japanese Tokusatsu tv show involving people transforming into costume superheroes fighting against monsters. Power rangers is just the american version where they take footage and battle scenes from the original Sentai shows redub it and cut out the scenes wiith the Japanese actors and splice in new original scenes with Western Actors. Unlike power rangers, Super Sentai is not afraid to show characters die and there's blood, I remember from Super Santai there was a White Ranger where his white outfit was caked in blood. I liked Power Rangers but after watching the original Japanese Super Sentai I prefer Super Sentai. Ulrtaman, Kamen Rider and even Daikaiju like Godzillaans Gamera are apart of Tokusatsu.

Gurran Lagan is a mecha anime. This is litterally powered by how pumped up you are. Final form is so massive it stands on a Galaxy like it's a figurine stand while the cast screams "Who the hell do you think we are?!" At the final boss.
