Very good talking point about slowing down the talk so the stenographer can input the data correctly. I took a plea deal once, and it was 15 months suspended, 6 months to serve, three years probation. About two years through probation, i caught a charge, and knew i had some time coming for violating. My first court appearance on the case, everyone was looking at me like i tossed a baby out the window. Mind you i didnt have a chance to get my lawyer there for this initial hearing, and they state to me....."you know you have 15 YEARS suspended right?". Talk about terrified, i was already in custody due to not making the initial bail amount, but i had absolutely no idea how to fix my situation, and knew the judge wasnt going to believe a word i said. Thankfully my lawyer is a machine and once he caught wind, he pulled the stenography report and was able to turn it all around. thankfully those days are passed, stay free people

There was recently a court case where Pennsylvania court gave an ex felon a victory in court because he sued the state over not being able to buy a gun. He had a bad check conviction or something. It's not known how it's going to impact felony gun restrictions in the future but it will be interesting to follow

I love how the judge laid down the law. She made it abundantly clear that if he F's around, he will find out. That is important, because defendants that do things like this tend to be the sort that also decide they don't want to follow the rules or think they can just do whatever they want. Knowing that she will put him in prison for a long time if he steps a toe out of line will, hopefully, make him rethink his behavior.

In Canada the attorneys wear robes too, in addition to the judge. Other court personnel might also. My brother was a court clerk in a federal branch for many years, and he did wear a robe when in court.
