I was actually born like this I had my operation at 9 months in mexico. They opened my leg and fixed all my bones into place now I can run,walk,jog,jump etc normal like any other person. The negative part to this is that my leg did not grow its skinny my tissue didn't expand its not going to either its been 16 years now and I'm happy I can walk :)

I would like to know since club foot is hereditary and a nural tube defect, why don’t doctors perform other test to check for other deformities that go along with nural tube defects. Eds, Spina Bifida, Spina Bifida occult, tethered cord and tethered cord occult, as well as chiari malformation.

Why is the bracing needed after Ponseti metod? and why in that position for so long time? Its something to do with the ligaments and muscles, I suppose.

Thanks for your question. The reason for bracing is to avoid recurrence. The longer duration you do it, the less incidence of recurrence.

Dr my sister suffering from club foot for more than 20 years ago.. she had a sever pain under big toe due to knife injury so to avoid that pain she used to walk in inverted foot to decrease pressure under big toe.. she had still in that way for many year and end with ulcers and inflammation in lateral foot.. the Dr give her many drugs to control that and had done many wrong operation for her end with unability to move her foot and leg in harmony in relation to each other and sever pain and he had removed some parts of bones from foot and now she cannot walk without ankle _foot orthosis.. plz tell me what have to be done??

Hi Dr. Amr. I am glad to see your channel on youtube. I would like to directly write my comment concerning my newborn child with one leg clubfoot. He was born on May 20, 2015. His right foot has clubfoot. I was shocked when I saw it for the first time. However I have searched through internet and found hundreds of cases with this condition. One local doctor from Slemani Governorate, Iraq saw my newborn baby, he recommened to use ponseti method. I am afraid to use this method by myself. Kindly what is your recommendation to my newborn? I have this condition. I had my surgery in 1980 and am now 35 years old. The pain of my clubfoot is pretty intense and my scar has gone from pink to dark black. My podiatrist has said to fix this I require another surgery. Any other alternatives?

It is hard to give medical advice without assessing the condition and XR, but in general you try shoe inserts or shoe modification. If no improvement and pain is so severe, you may need surgery

The brilliant and controversial French diplomat-statesman Prince Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand (1754-1838) was born with a severely shortened right club-foot. As eldest son of impoverished aristocrats, he would have been destined for a career in the military (which he would have liked); however he was disinherited in favour of his younger (normal) brother and forced to go into the Church, where as a liberal-utopian free-thinker he unwillingly became priest, then Bishop of Autun. At the French Revolution he gladly left the Church, and became a canny economist-politician, then foreign minister /diplomat under 5 successive governmenst from the Directoire, to Napoleon, to the restoration of the Bourbon monarchy, to the Orleans monarchy of Louis-Phillipe, King of the French. Talleyrand all his life wore a heavy boot with an iron bar in order to walk. That said, he was witty, elegant, charismatic and notoriously attractive to women. He was called by his political enemies "The limping devil" and by his admirers "the indispensable man." He said himself that he owed his dazzling career to the accident of being lame. After a lifetime away from the Church, on his deathbed the 84-year old Talleyrand repented of his apostasy and died peacefully after receiving the Last Rites. Typical of his wit is that his private secretary said that Talleyrand often smiled at the bafflement of future historians attempting to write his biography.
