Dont leave your city. Trust me. It'll get better. If I lived in New York I would never change that city for any other city in the world. Even LA. I could live in LA for a while but I would always come back to NY. Problems exist, but they will be corrected in a blink of eyes. Like reality shift. Even if NY becomes the worst city on earth, i would still love it

This works for him because his goal is to create engaging content on KZbin. However, if your goal is to read Tolstoy in Russian or manga in Japanese, this is a terrible plan. This works for basic communication with native speakers for a few minutes. You can pretty easily predict all the conversation paths. Just prep how to answer “how long have you been learning X”? Learn the name of ten food items. But he can’t even read a menu. There are four language domains:listening, speaking, reading and writing. Obviously KZbin is good for speaking and so he focuses on that. But most polyglots emphasize input not output and this makes sense since you will spend 99 percent of your foreign language experience consuming, not producing, unless you are in that country or married to a native speaker. If I fluently can speak, say, Polish, Korean, Italian, Latin and Japanese, it is very unlikely that I would speak them on a daily basis, unless I work for the UN. But I can easily watch an anime in Japanese, read a Latin classic, watch a K drama and listen to a Polish podcast in a single day. Xiaoma has to travel several hours or days to find some of these native language speakers and he is from New York which had lots of foreign speakers. But many language learners have books, video and audio as their sole or primary source. I’m studying Japanese and almost all sources say that one should learn the writing system as soon as possible even though it’s one of the hardest in the world. You need it if you travel to Japan to read signs and menus. You need it to get input from manga and light novels. I think literacy is a basic goal of any language learner. And the 5-15 hours learning hiragana and katakana is a tiny fraction of your language journey. Why would you be in such a hurry to learn Japanese that you would skip this and make several hundred flash cards in romaji and then do it all over again in kana? I think it is easily worth it to spend the first 10 hours of learning Russian, Greek, Thai, Japanese, Korean etc to learn the writing systems. One big reason is that the pronunciation is inexact. But another big reason is that to get 1000 words of input from a live native speaker in the target language takes a ton of effort and expense. He hires tutors or travels to foreign countries. After you learn the writing strategy, you can get millions of words of input for free and consume it anywhere at anytime on any subject. You can’t progress beyond ordering food and talking about yourself, family, school or work and hobbies. Finally, if you don’t know a key word in a life conversation, you have to stop it completely to ask what a word means. Do that every 50 words and it ruins it. But when reading you can look up every word if you want.

Lol bro you moved to Jersey, your gonna be spending half your time in New York anyways. Also between cash jordan's commenters and yours i'd say 80% of em don't even live here. Just like to complain from the outside. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty wrong with stuff now and especially how money is being wasted (personally blame the extreme union wages and rules) but for every youtuber or transplant complaining and making departure videos, there's millions more living their life. There ain't nowhere else like here and you have to know what you want if you plan on making it here. BTW, people complaining about the mass immigration but gotta remember who put them on busses and moved them all over to two of the already most densely populated cities in the US. Just because we treat them like humans and want them to help them succeed doesn't make it a waste of money. Lots of stone throwing when Texans aren't free of sin :P

You're comparing a monogamous culture and "not-so" corrupted political system (like Sweden), and comparing it to New York. That comparison simply does not work. There is no longer a homogenous culture in New York, and there is no class or respect for the systems in place because those systems are set in place by old values and morals. Those values and morals have been betrayed by modernist politics, and political corruption.

I cannot believe anyone would live in NY city - That city is a dump. It is a dump because its residence literally vote to make it a dump. And that has nothing to do with rail workers accused of overtime fraud. Likely there is a worker or two that has put in for unworked hours. That represents penny's of the real problem. Progressives and worse (independents and democrats) vote for social policies that create an entitled class of criminal and drug addicted residence. Then when high income earners, afflicted in "affluenza," feeling guilt for their success and then vote to create more social programs resulting in more social disorder. Those idiots, then leave, and export their Democrat votes into other municipalities - ruining those as well.....

Congrats on the weight loss!!! But OMG your nutritionist recommended to eat vegetables? As a former vegan, fire her!!! Listen to Dr. Paul Saladino instead. I actually used to eat lentils, beans, vegetables and as I got older, gained more weight...switched to a meat diet, lost the weight to my own shock. I know, not what the mainstream nutritionists tell you to do.

Wow! Haven't seen your videos in a bit, and my man has lost weight. But from NYC to New Jersey? That's funny, if not crazy! 😁I think somebody once said that NYC is full of underworld people taking a cut from the construction business so prices there will always be high because somebody has to get a cut and nothing gets done.

To say New York is one of the greatest city in the world, then proceed to mention several huge issues that are deciding factors for many to move to a city is an interesting take. I say this as someone who loves my city (Chicago) but understands that the city is severely flawed. I think we all need to consider our feelings towards our places where we grew up and realize that they are not the same (in a negative way). If the leadership continues to fail locally, we shouldn’t idly sit by and wait in hopes they fix it for this long. If you have opportunity to move, do it. Your home can be anywhere you wanna make it, just have to be open it. I understand this is way harder to execute with everyone’s situation, but as they appear to only listen when money runs dry, it might be one of few options at our disposal.

That's why I just left Portland. I'm not anti-tax either, and I would consider myself a moderate democrat, but the way that taxes are used in Portland is such a joke. Nothing is being done about the rampant homelessness and drug problem, and despite having such a large budget, the citizens see absolutely nothing as a result of it. The streets are rough. The sidewalks are dirty and overrun with homeless. The police don't do anything. The court system is so backed up that they're letting people go for anything short of a violent felony. I was almost burglarized by a deranged methhead. The sidewalks smell like piss. I've seen dozens of half-naked people screaming and punching things. I've seen a handful of people taking a shit in public. It's just ridiculous.

What’s crazy is that you all voted for this. You all voted for Deblasio over Lhota back in 2013, who would have kept the Giuliani and Bloomberg policies in place that kept the city clean and safe. And then you voted for Deblasio again when he ran against Maliotakis, who would have cleaned the city up again. Now it’s at a point of no return. You voted for this. Deal with it.
