Daddy Longlegs, also known as Harvestmen, are arachnids in the order Opiliones. While they are arachnids, they are not spiders. Unlike spiders, Daddy Longlegs do not have separate abdomens; and they only have two eyes, whereas spiders have three to four pairs. Contrary to some popular myths, Daddy Longlegs are not venomous. They can't be, since they don't have venom glands. They also have no silk glands, and so are unable to spin webs.
This clustering behavior provides the Daddy Longlegs with warmth and protection from predators.
Video from Ajijic, Mexico, near Lake Chapala.

I believe I genuinely have arachnophobia, as I have actual uncontrollable, hysterical fits over spiders, but Harvestmen have never bothered me. I can pick them up with no issues, and I let them be. We have outdoor cats and feed them dry cat food, and in the Summer you sometimes see these things grab a piece and carry it away. They are not scary nor disgusting at all; they are just tiny basketballs with legs and tiny little feet that look like an L, and they are looking for snacks to carry home and munch on, bless their hearts.

I used to be scared of arachnids too, and harvestmen were also an exception for me. I don't know, they just look and act so harmless. They really do just look like balls with legs. They're strangely cute and I have always enjoyed their company. I also wasn't afraid of jumping spiders for the same reason. They were too cute for even me to be afraid of. Actually, harvestmen, jumping spiders, and wolf spiders are what got me over my fear of arachnids!

This is going to sound weird to say, but I love Harvestmen. Good job! I leave spiders alone around indoor plants for bug control and I relocate them outside if I find them wandering around inside. We only have two venomous spiders here, so it makes no sense to kill the other spiders. I encourage opossums to be around too for tick control.

I've been trying to convince my girlfriend of this. Bunch of tiny little fruit fly looking bugs got inside and now there's a ton of them reproducing in the soil of our plants. I found a couple of those tiny jumping spiders recently though so I'm hoping they'll get rid of them. I can't tell her though because she just freaks out and wants me to kill them. Idk why she doesn't want to just let them take care of our problem first at least lol

There's a type of spider that's also nicknamed Daddy Longlegs where I live. And must say I'm quite glad they're generally solitary and don't live in big bunches like Harvestmen. But are also completely harmless, and interestingly also have an old false notion that they are highly venous attached to them. Otherwise, from the thumbnail, I thought it was going to be about that spider, swarming in a big dark mass. Which I've never seen them do. So I clicked on it out of morbid curiosity. Then I saw, oh, its just some sort of moss on a wall. No big deal. I was kind of relieved actually. Then they poked it with a stick... ... ... Took a while to dawn on me that the moss IS the Daddy Longlegs. Lol. Thought they were coming out holes or cracks in between. Incredible!

Our harvestman (pseudo daddies) are very similar in appearance but seem to live solitary lives. I'm in Aotearoa-New Zealand and we have Daddy Long Legs spiders that live inside our homes. They have really fine legs and a somewhat figure 8 shaped body with a clear head and thorax. They just hang in their corners, usually in our toilet room for some weird reason, but they go wandering every now and then, so I scoop them up and take them out to a plant to hang out on.

You could have cellar spiders (also called daddy longlegs), which are spiders, have fangs and are very poisonous. They also behave differently. They can’t pierce skin, so your still safe

They're not venomous, but they do bite. Learned that myself. Edit: seems like most people commenting didn't even watch the video- these aren't even spiders, and don't even have the capacity to be venomous since they lack the anatomy to produce venom. Even if that "daddy longlegs are the most venomous spider" bullshit is true (which I'm pretty sure isn't), it doesn't apply to these, since these aren't even spiders. Literally says that in the video.

"Daddy Longlegs" is used for a variety of arachnids and even the crane fly, which is a flying insect. Where I grew up, it referred to an arrachnid with a narrow, oval-shaped body. And while I was scared of spiders in general and lods of other crawlies, I had learned that daddy longlegs don't bite people. I'd even get kind of excited when I saw one and I'd pick it up and let it walk on my arm for a bit. I didn't learn about harvestmen until quite a while later. And... they're just so creepy. I first learned about them in my 20s, from a video on the internet. They weren't presented as harmful or anything, but that night I had a nightmare about them. Those fat, round bodies. They freak me out! I'm a grown adult having a nightmare about spiders.
@Katana2097

The fact that Harvestmen are called Daddy Long-Legs but Cellar Spiders are also called Daddy Long-Legs is probably what confuses and scares people about Harvestmen. Cellar Spiders are, well spiders. They build webs in the corners of rooms in your house or shed and are generally pretty nice company to have. But Harvestmen are a different beast all together. They wobble about in the grass and dirt of your lawn and garden in a clumsy fashion and sometimes find their way into your house where they generally do nothing of interest other than look kinda cool.

These guys and jumping spiders are evidence that spiders wouldn't be so bad if they couldn't hurt us. Given, they also have somewhat charismatic designs, but still, just being sure they're not dangerous makes me like them a lot more.

I really don't mind these fellas often. Like, if I saw one in my room, I'm sorry but he's gone, but I've seen them around the house and outside and I don't have incentive to really kill them. These relatives of spiders look like spiders, but don't bite, aren't hostile to humans, and don't have the abilities to make a mess like a spiderweb. Their actually quite nice though, as they will kill flies and mosquitoes, so there's a benefit to actually leaving some in your home, they'll take care of any fly or mosquito problems.

How to build your own flamethrower: Get a high quality water gun. It should be able to build and maintain pressure well, be made of high quality plastic, and hold a good amount of liquid. You'll need a metal bracket, either flat or an L bracket depends on the gun you buy. Attach the bracket to the gun, so that the flat metal comes out parallel with the ground, about 1" below the nozzle. Fill the water reservoir with lighter fluid. Attach a candle to the end of the bracket. You can use tacky, gum, or anything that isn't glue. Light the candle using your preferred method. Shoot the gun.

OMG, I know! LOL. I have a severe phobia of those things. Other spiders creep me out, but I do not go into mass hysteria over other spiders like I do those nasty long legged creatures! A friend of mine knows I have a phobia of them, and she actually sent me here to this video because she thought it would be funny. As soon as I saw them, I broke out into a sweat, my heart started racing, and I got very sick to my stomach. And of course, the tiniest sensation on my skin, like hair, and I am panicking! LOL.
