The timeline is screwed but the kids weren’t born in 1988. Their birth year changes every year so that they stay 8-10 even in current times (like in the Facebook episode that aired in 2010 listed Stan as being born in 2001 so he’d be 9 in that episode, despite Stan already being a character since 1997). The pandemic started in 2020 and this is 40 years later so it’s 2060 and the kids are now 49-50 years old.
