I have a query? I am new to Mac. I have mostly used Windows. Now as per synthetic benchmark Mac mini M4 the single core score is almost at par with M4 pro or Max or even the top of the line Intel or AMD processor. But there is difference in multi core scores . Please tell what is the practical usages of multi cores in processors when these cores has a massive effect in the price of the processors. I am working in a college and there is hardly any audio video editing or coding in my job . Its mostly for browsing, Ms word/ powerpoint/ excell and occasional audio video content watching sometime 4k. Videos too. Thanks .😮

Same thing as multi-core purposes anywhere else: some video/music production work, coding compiling, and probably scientific applications. *Some* games too.

Well, it depends on the OS and how it treats the cores. macOS relies on single core to start an app. When the app is running, it decides how many cores it shoud use, we can call it optimization. macOS also decides to give the app more bandwidth if it needs, when there are multiple cores in the CPU which also happen to be free. Overall, just don't worry, everything will run smooth. Hope this helps.
@craigneidel8 күн бұрын
You would then be fine with high single core scores and don't really need to worry about the highest multi-core scores.

@@craigneidel Thanks for the reply. I purchased the base model with 24 GB Ram . So far everything is snappy . But I am having really bad experience in creating a iCloud account and then install apps . So many checks and verification.

Apple News! My favorite part of the channel. It's that or your review on the Mac products like the M4 Mac mini or Macbook Air and such. I love it! I'll post more comments later in the video as I watch your video.

I own an M2 Pro Studio and like that drive upgrade option. I have 2TB but 4TB would be nice. Keep us posted on that.

I use the ZV-E10 but with upgraded Sigma 16 mm lens which is key. The mic is by Toner and just one I reviewed in a video a little while ago and I change the mics out every so often.

I agree on the slimmer phone. The size is just fine as it is and I would be okay with it getting slightly bigger with the chance of more features and battery life.

This may seem like an odd random or maybe even a stupid question but I’m interested in the new M4 Mac mini and I’m also interested in the new M4 iMac would I be able to buy a base model M4 mini and connected to a new M4 Apple iMac if so, would I be able to use the computing power of both of those two computers simultaneously or would one cancel out the other?
@craigneidel8 күн бұрын
You can't really use both computers at once. I did a video on using a M1 iMac as a monitor and have not yet tried it with the M4. But you can check out my channel for that video and search for that one.

Merry Christmas Craig. I had a question for you about a basic Bluetooth mouse. I am currently using an iMac like you use with a basic wired optical mouse with a scroll wheel and I was trying to figure out a Bluetooth wireless mouse of similar design and there are just so many available. I was curious what you might recommend as a Bluetooth mouse similar to the wired mouse? Thanks!
@craigneidel8 күн бұрын
Merry Christmas. I'm not exactly sure what you like but this bluetooth mouse in this video here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4WwnoOtg817epo - is nice for under $30 bucks if you like simple.

I liked the Touch Bar but wonder if it was made seperate to the function row keys as an additional feature, it may have been more successful. They may not have been able to include the function keys and a seperate Touch Bar on the MacBook as it may have been to cramped I don't know. That flexbar looks interesting though
@craigneidel9 күн бұрын
yes, I agree. Thanks for the comment and for watching the channel. We will see how this performs once it comes out.

Apple's Q4 ends Sept 30. iPhone 15 and 14 had 3 months of sales in that period. iPhone 16 was shipped in mid-late Sept, so there's only a couple weeks of iPhone 16 sales for that quarter. Q1 '25 results should tell a more complete story.
@craigneidel9 күн бұрын
We will see but I heard they are not selling great right now.

A TouchBar would be fine as long as they left the F keys alone. I personally wouldn't use it. If they do replace the F keys, I'd buy the last MacBook before the Touchbar and just wait until they got rid of it like I did the last time.
@craigneidel11 күн бұрын
Yes, I think they will leave the keys alone.

You can click a button to turn AI "off", but that just means it won't show you it is on. It's still recording every phone call, text, keystroke, screen shots, etc and sending it to Apple.
@craigneidel8 күн бұрын
Yes, you can also turn it all off in one swoop if needed.

I own a 1st Touch Bar MacBook Pro, I don’t really mind it too much, those functions are not typing keys, they’re not being use as much as actual typing keys. But I did configure it to show the traditional function keys and nothing else. Right now I use it for work, and it’s on a laptop stand, the Touch Bar is out of reach, I type with a proper Magic Keyboard 2 so it can no longer annoy me. One thing I remember really funny was ASUS made a laptop with a much bigger big touch bar despite Apple showed it’s not welcomed by people lol. But for that FlexBar thing, I hope it’s bigger because it’s a standalone device, not space constrained.
@craigneidel8 күн бұрын
I think they might be trying to make this one have more features but time will tell. It's hard to come out with a new product so we will need to review it.
@dough.924110 күн бұрын
It’s not about Apple custom silicon being too expensive to use internally for their own AI training. It’s about using a chip whose sole purpose dedicated to this function. The M-series chips are not “AI chips” per sé. The alternative would be to use Nvidia cards. Duh.
