But you didn't. There is one more technique that does let you enjoy carbs: you keep your carb day to one day a week, and the rest of the week in a low insulin state of a highly satisfying Keto or LCHF diet. Carbs keep you hungry, so you treat a single cheat day as a day in which you don't need willpower either.

Good and bad carb knowledge might be helpful, but it's more beneficial to learn how the body metabolises it. The body doesn't know whether it is the 20 grams of white/brown sugar in the cake or 20 grams of wheat (white, brown etc.) in a piece of bread; it metabolises them all as GLUCOSE. Plus, Hi/Lo GI (white & brown) is hardly useful compared to learning about the Glycaemic Load. Ultimately, the body has to digest it, whether it's Hi or Low GI, and therefore how it does it becomes more critical.
@LowCarbLowDrama3 жыл бұрын
CARBS PROVIDE FUEL BUT THEY'RE NOT ESSENTIAL. Do we need to eat a minimum amount of carbs every day, one may think? The answer is a surprisingly NO. An essential nutrient is one that you need to get from your diet because your body can not make it on its own. Unlike essential amino acids, which are found in protein foods and essential fatty acids, which are found in fatty foods, there are no essential carbohydrates. Now the red blood cells and a portion of your kidneys and brain do need some glucose. Your body is capable enough to make all of the glucose that it needs - even if you do not eat any carbs at all. This remarkable organ called the liver can convert amino acids and other materials into glucose. This process is called gluconeogenesis, meaning 'making new glucose'. Even though your body doesn't need any carbs, including small amounts of them, carb-containing foods can still be beneficial because of the valuable nutrients in them. Celery, for example, has small amount of carbs but it has vitamins A, K, and C, plus minerals like potassium and folate. It's a bit like fructose, naturally occurring sugar, from fruit. While fructose is downright detrimental to your health, but fruits have many other valuable nutrients. A real catch 22 bummer! The takeaway mantra for me was about finding your 'personal threshold'. This one size fits all advice of "everything in moderation", A CALORIE IS A CALORIE etc., has misled humanity as far as modern medicine nutritional advice is concerned. It is outdated, and we must move on from it for the sake of our health. Good Health!

During those years I tried many exercises of different intensity to try lose more weight and even did carnivore diet for 1 year. Again no progress. I am now eating carbs again and on counting calories and top it off i am on plant based diet (hooray fruits) and have since lost another 4kg. Every 2 weeks I take a break and eat meat and fast food if i want. It will cause a 2kg weight gain. So my weight fluctuates up and down 2kg to 3kg. I was a yo-yo dieter for years too. But I found the answer and have lost all the weight I needed to lose, 36kg! Currently trying to start exercising to get really toned. I didn't exercise at all to lose it. Just better choices at every step. It took a while because dieting actually damages the gut. If you do your Keto/low carb during the week and have less control on the weekend (as in eat a slice of bread on purpose); try to have whole foods as much as possible and slowly get rid of anything claiming to be diet food; aim to reduce your portions; drink lots of water; move (walking is great); one meal a week should be something you love that's not necessarily healthy; listen to your body and sometimes just stop yourself at or just before you feel full (satisfied), not when you feel stuffed! And remember this is how you're going to live for the rest of your life. Because we're always trying to be healthier/thinner, so better to just do it properly slowly then keep rushing to failure. Give yourself a few more years and I promise all the weight would be gone and you wouldn't even feel like it was an effort. Focus on being healthy instead of weight loss. God bless you.

Might I add Inflammation to the mix as well with all those grains plus glycation of lipids and you’ve got yourself plague build up in your arteries. It’s not saturated fats that causes high VLDL cholesterol which is actually the supposedly bad cholesterol in our blood, IT’S THE CARBS. This video is so dangerous and detrimental to people’s health it really should be banned.

Very sad to see your addicted to carbohydrates, especially sugar, which is a deadly toxin. If you do not break this addiction your health will suffer serious consequences. However, at least you freely admit to the problem and hopefully your will one day be living a low-carb lifestyle and be free of the chains of sugar addiction.

The nutrition-related videos for CNA insider feel quite misguided. I can see the good intentions behind them but it's frustrating to see all the concepts lumped together at the start without any clarity. These videos get views but can there be more effort to be objective? I mean, first 5 minutes: 1) "I wonder if I can have my refined carbs as they are and not worry about overeating and gaining weight" - you can cut out carbs but overeat protein and fats, thus gaining weight. Also, 1g fat = 9 cal vs 1g carb = 4 cal. Not sure what question they're trying to ask or answer. 2) "I need to define what carbs are" - proceeds to grab different food including chocolate..... It's so weird because chocolates are mostly fat and sugar... Keep the macro nutrients separate lah. The question to ask on the street should be: "does this food contain carbs?" 3) "Green carbs, brown carbs, white carbs" - eh, hello. Brown Sugar boba how ah? How does this home-econ textbook framework help the viewers?

Freezing your food doesnt change the calorie content in a meaningful way. A study trying to maximize the amount of Resistant starch in wheat flour, boiled then froze it 7 times in order to raise the % of RS from 1% to 8%. If you boil and freeze a slice of white bread 7 times you will potentially reduce the calories from 97kcal to 89kcal by converting 2g of starch in the bread to resistant starch. This is not useful information for people trying to lose weight.

This video title is so Misleading. Over eating ( ie intake Calories exceed output Calories) is the main reason people put on weight. Control your mouth in terms of Calories intake is the only way. The connotation that eating refined Carb diet helps weight loss is criminally misleading and irrseponsible. Why not use balanced and healthy diet as the video title? basically not, the video is on the right track, the body is not a bomb calorimeter and will more readily absorb and uptake refined carbs, vs foods with more fiber or proteins(require part of the food energy to process resulting in less food energy uptaken). focusing on proteins and vegetables are the key to body fat loss

An entire video on carbohydrates and I didn't hear the word 'insulin' even once. What a joke of a video! For heaven's sake, stay away from refined carbs (dense glucose) and sugar (fructose). Replace them with high fiber vegetables, add monounsaturated fat (yeah, fat isn't the criminal you were told for generations) and stay away from such half a$$ed videos. Also, resistant starch is a myth, it spikes sugar as much as the regular food (check out Serious Keto by Steve). It may promote gut health but doesn't help with sugar (glucose) spike and insulin resistance at all.
