How do adults with special needs deal with relationships and getting married? Can they hold regular jobs? What if they get in trouble with the law? These are the kinds of issues that 33-year-old Aidah and her mother must deal with, with the help of social workers from the Association for People with Special Needs (APSN).
Aidah, who has a lower-than-average IQ as well as physical disabilities, has been working at inclusive employer Burger King for more than 5 years, but never dared tell her colleagues about her disabilities for fear they'd stop being friends.
Her mother, meanwhile, worries about whether Aidah can handle independence - given her penchant for spending instead of saving money.

Society is much more challenging than living our day-to-day lives. Peoples attitudes can be the biggest barrier. I am visually impaired, and I travel alone, even to Singapore, since it is very easy to get around. I speak many languages, and I have had many experiences in life. I try to educate people, so the next time they meet somebody like me, they will have some understanding. I posted something on another video from channel is Asia, and somebody asked me, how I was able to write on a computer if I can’t see. I have made videos on my KZbin channel about using technology as somebody who can’t see. All of the Apple devices come with built-in accessibility features for people with special needs, and there are many apps out there nowadays that can do things like link you up to volunteers who can see, and by using the video, they can help you with things like locating your keys, locating a shop, etc. There are also apps that will read text from Books to you, identify colors, there is a social network for people with special needs that was created by somebody whose brother has down syndrome. There are so many things nowadays… But unless you need them them, you don’t look for them.

I am so glad to see this young lady, and to see the work she’s doing. So many times, employers only look at hiring somebody if they have a good heart, or patience. People with disabilities have a wide range of talents. I speak nine languages, six of them fluently, not many people can do that.

That's a dangerous thing to say. Disabilities vary wildly, and not every disabled person can work. Sure, Aidah can, but she isn't *every* disabled person. i knew some people with learning difficulties to cope and adapt in society quite tough, challenging, and demeaning especially if the society doesn't acknowledge this disability name calling, bullying, as well as the employer doesn't have a proper attitude towards them... working with them require a lot of patience, a whole lot of understand environment But Singapore, I have to say ASPN play major role in helping them...thank you on behalf of them...and i hope Malaysia can learn few things from you guys

This video made me emotional because I thought that if you were to have a kid with a disability, the best thing to do would be to give them away but I didn't understand that everyone needs and wants love. When her mom said that you shouldn't abandon your family, it really was an eye-opener for me. It really helped me understand that we all have one shot at life. ( I didn't know a vid could effect me this much ) Good vid 👌

I mean if you had a kid with a disability and you gave them away then went that mean no one could take them? I mean if you can't take care of them with a disability but nobody else should. I just know that somebody like me who is special needs would hate to have had my mother give me away

My brother has autism and he is also pretty independent. He works at Home Depot 15 hours a week, loves riding his bike around town and can carry a good conversation but something that I worry about the most is him coming across someone who has bad intentions. He sees the best in everyone and I guess u can say he is “naïve” and I get so worried something will happen when he is out on his own. I know most people are kind hearted but it’s so hard to believe that when u see so many bad and terrible things people do on social media.

It's **very** common for people with intellectual disabilities to be forced to commit crimes, since they are highly manipulable. It should be against the law, and the person who asks them to do it should receive the punishment, not them.
