It has been a year since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan. In that time, they have enacted repressive Sharia laws, even as millions flee their harsh rule. The economy is in tatters as natural disasters devastate much of the country.
Against this backdrop, China wants to establish closer ties with the Taliban government. Beijing stands profit handsomely from Afghan natural resources, but new ventures risk exposing Chinese nationals to violence from terrorist groups.
Meanwhile, Beijing is looking to Pakistan to be the bridge between China and Afghanistan, facilitating cross-border trade and infrastructure development. Will China’s bet on Afghanistan pay off?

@@scy3894 First of all what has Syria do to with Afghanistan? And as you would know if you were political better informed, Afghanistan is actually attacked by the txrror group txliban. What China is doing is to trade with this txrror group to get priceless minerals and gemstones of Afghanistan. Because since no country with morals accepts this txrrorists as a official regime they need money to get weapons and war goods to keep terrorizing the civilist of Afghanistan who are protesting and risking life for Freedom. So this txrrorists "sell" Afghanistans minerals, gemstones etc. which they have stolen from Afghanistan to China at low prices. Short: China is dealing with txrrorists to get expensive goods and paying this txrrorists to keep plundering Afghanistan. Also China supports this txrrorists in their plunderinga with required machines and equipments.

Never has it been this bad and acute. The Taliban were part of the war against the people since 1994, and especially since 2005, with an acceleration since Ghani coming to power. Taliban and Ghani coordinated to destroy the circulation of currency to break the society. At no point in history have people restored to selling their children on such a scale and never have they been so humiliated. The consequences will be very severe for all involved, most of all the Taliban and their Pakistani backers.

Well, it is true that the Taliban claims they are the government, what I don't see them doing is them governing. Are they building roads? Are they providing security for minorities? Are they ignoring the potential of half of their population? The Taliban were nothing but thieves while the Americans were there, and they just don't have that many people to steal from, yet. Starving people can't buy ammunition, notice that the Taliban are heavy with arms? You will notice that nobody in Afghanistan is calling for free and fair elections.

As I can see must people in Afghanistan don't accept the taliban as any regime. We call them the taliban virus. Just another virus we got to survive. And so we also can't see countries like China or Russia supporting this terror group who took Afghanistan hostage while the world is watching. Which is a shame for all the world. Just if big countries stop supporting the txliban terror group we Afghans could finally start rebuilding Afghanistan.

But to question China's investments instead of US's invasion (just read the other comments & replies here) reflects US's established soft power and extensive influence of Western media around the Anglo-saxon countries. Rather than questioning China's intentions, I would be more curious to know if US would be held accountable for it's invasion of another country, absolute disregard for human rights & unjustified drone strikes of innocent families. As I can see must people in Afghanistan don't accept the taliban as any regime. We call them the taliban virus. Just another virus we got to survive. And so we also can't see countries like China or Russia supporting this terror group who took Afghanistan hostage while the world is watching. Which is a shame for all the world. Also you can see only countries with questionable human rights policy see this terror group as a regime. This is not supporting Afghanistan but supporting a terror group Which took Afghanistan hostage while plundering this countrys minerals, gemstones etc to pay their "supporters" back. So we Just don't want anyone to support the taliban terrorist. We got the rest ourselves.🇦🇫✌️

Yea but again what people do not understand is that. This is nothing new what China is doing with Afghanistan. Afghanistan will be yet another part of the Chinese world plan. China has been doing the same thing with many poorer nations world wide. Many African nations, Sir Lanka, Nepal, Egypt. All the same plan. Now it's Afghanistan and Pakistan. It's china's way to throw its influence around and what is actually really hilarious to me about this, is China is extremely anti- religious and extremely anti- Islamic none the less. You seen what China has been doing to the Uygars in china! If not I suggest you do. The Taliban will soon be killed off by the Chinese in due time and will be replaced by a pro or even a commuinest government. And a major aspect of a commuinest regime is anti-religion. Communiest are atheist. So yea. It looks all great what China is doing but there is alot more behind it then just making trade agreements and helping to build infrastructure. Another point that is funny is the Americans are called Imperalist, what the hell do you think the Chinese are then? They are doing the same thing as what the United States has done. Same thing. Chinese are also Imperalist.

They don’t “care” for them… that’s china’s front for their cash grab. The US showed the world what not to do so now China can try to creep in and take take take and swindle in their own way. Taliban won’t have it is my prediction. Values too radical that lie deep in the heart of those Afghan leaders. They cannot modernize by themselves nor do they want help doing so. They seem to like things just the way they are and seem to be want to be left alone 🤷🏼‍♀️

It is disappointing to note that US destroyed virtually all the infrastructures which existed before US attacked it - for the minerals. The Americans destroyed the land. They took the last money that could have helped the Afghans and refuse to return it. They continue to bomb Afghanistan although they have left. I am sorry for the Afghans. I fear for the Americans and those that took part in the war on the day of judgement - hope these evil doers can repent and undo the evil deeds.

@@Harris.S Dear Harris, I am a fortunate as well as unfortunate guy because of an unnatural exposure over a period of time that eventually ended my wife's life.: Strangely enough, I was attacked by some unknown force but I did not know I was being attacked. The attack was on one occasion an attempt to kill me. My wife who was still alive saw a gene pulled the ladder I was on to make me fall. She saved me and then divulged to me that she had the eyes and ears to see spirits, souls of the dead, prophets from yesteryears etc. After searching for help in my church, it was negative and one member advised me to see a temple's teacher who was able to stop further attack for a while. They attacked again and cause much pain and crippled the teacher from the temple. I was told to leave. We left and on the way home came by another temple. On entering the temple a sort of prophet appeared and talk to my wife. We were taught how to evade the attack. I was attacked continuously and endured a lot of sufferings and I became blind. Then we were being forced to join the evil lot. We refused and they tried to kill us. My wife and I declared that we would never join them. So they tried to kill us. We couldn't do any thing. We waited to be killed. Just then, my wife saw angels with wings sitting on horses which have wings came down and saved us. Later on at my request, they sent doctors to heal me. After that, I could walk properly and my eyesight was reatored. I was then happy but I lost my wife suddenly. They realised she could see them and harassed her day and night and so someone up there took her up to relieve her from these harassment. Now I am alone. But she spoke to some of our family members and ascertained she is up there and is waiting for me. During the period of attacks, we met with a few angels and prophets. I am lucky to be alive but unfortunate to have lost my wife who I knew and loved for some 50 years. The experience instilled in me. The beliefs in God.

They have not built any education buildings, government building, rail way, ports, etc.. since the day the invaded. China's job isn't to feed and house the poor. It is there to trade and through trade cause Afghanistan to pick themselves up. Kind of like the saying, "giver a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will eat for a lifetime."

It's a mix of tribes, clans and families with common interests - like religion and a dislike of foreign intervention. I am not a fan of the Taliban's custom but that's their internal domestic affair. Likewise, I am also not a fan of many other self-righteous nations whose only solution to the world's problem is to foment conflicts and advocate mass killings of innocent people.

@Chris Viking Stop spreading your lies, there is no cultural genocide in Xinjiang, you can see their language, mosques, and Muslim praying all over the city. Xinjiang province has got more mosque than the entire America and UK and France combined. In fact, there are more mosque in Xinjiang than Malaysia, a Muslim majority country.

@@chrisviking7807 What Uyghur Cultural genocide? That's crap! You should not easily take at face value what western media deliberate smear without doing some background checking yourself. Why do you think the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which comprises about 56 Muslim-majority countries, did not support this accusation? They even sent a delegation to Xinjiang in 2019 to see for themselves, visiting numerous Muslim factilties, vocational training centres, mosque, talking to the locals inside, and in public places e.g. markets (some without any Chinese official in attendance). They concluded that these nonsensical genocides, cultural genocides, false labors, etc. are entirely false! They even commended China for the positive efforts in taking care of the Xinjiang citizen! Yes, I do believe that there may be detention centers where radical Uyghurs were detained, especially during the early stage of the security enforcements after these radicals committed numerous terrorist acts in different parts of the countries. However, the overall effort was not to incarcerate a section of the population but to de-radicalize them and help them gain skills and provide them with opportunities to uplift their livelihood. This is the only way to eliminate terrorism - not by bombing them to kingdom high as carried out by some nations which only serves to create more terrorists and enemies. By the way, there are also numerous foreign independent youtube vloggers who had visited Xinjiang recently and who can vouch for true situation there. Please check these out yourself and don't blindly believe in these western mainstream media smears.

@Chris Viking Right.... how many muslim leaders have visited xinjiang & mention 'there's no genocide'? Realize that these countries have strong relationship with US as well? Yet NADA. Of course, the only explanation is those muslim leaders are bunch of crooks who love money. Afterall, most readers don't THINK. Remember the story about ghaddafi as well? Yes, same 'sources' told the same story and being reprinted over and over and over again. Look at how many 'western sources' publish basically the same story about russia & the speed they publish them. YET they somehow stayed silent for 8 years when the civilians in donbass being killed daily. Yes, they have the same 'sources' & they all only want to tell the same narratives. Ever checked if your news sources somehow received US aids as well? Check where NED is currently operating in china. Wonder why the story focus so much in xinjiang?
