So far during the the Jokowi administration the country changed drastically. Apart from his obsession on building massive infrastructure projects across the whole archipelago, he appointed influential and highly educated and skilled ministers into his cabinet. One being is Nadiem Makarim, co-founder of Gojek as Minister of Education. Nadiem made reforms such as the abolishment of national exams(Ujian Nasional) and encourage university students to make business of their own to increase the country's supply of entrepreneurs and domestic investors. This can contribute a lot to the country's digital economy with innovation and creativity in the long-term.

Hi Karen thanks for the review. The two founders are legendary CEO's who's services close to what we need here in Indonesia. They are big in a context of digital service. Nadeem, a Harvard alumni, who was the first CEO of gojek before its merger, is now busy as the Ministry of Education. I put a lot of respect to this merger idea. But, once more, startup ecosystem must be developed here. Still consumers here, but as initiator of a startup is still lack of support. Btw, algorithm valley is now built in Bekasi area which is claimed to be Indonesia's Silicon Valley. I think more and more researchs on startup, need to be done here.

Lots of people in the comments here don't quite understand how the tech & VC industry works. Yes, people benefit from these apps but these companies still are not profitable and are still choosing to raise more funding. This is very dangerous when they should be focusing instead of being a profitable business. If you're loaning more and more money without a way to pay them back, it spells danger for hyper-inflated companies like this. And if they go bust, the only ones that suffer are the small businesses that rely on these apps for their livelihoods. Super-proud of two Indonesian startups making it big but they need an exit plan, fast.

Do you know Amazon has never been profitable for 17 quarters/4.25 years from 2015-2019? It and Tesla have debt levels exceeding 90-100% of its annual revenue. It's been a trend for up and coming start-ups of any kind to take on as much funding and debt as possible to grow to the absolute top, then start thinking about turning a profit. Very large investors see value in growth rather than just profits nowadays.
@mahamoudali21763 жыл бұрын
A lot of these companies are focused on growth and capturing market share. Profitability is not a current goal for them and investors know this. Gojek isn't. As a matter of fact it provides jobs to millions of people and monthly salary is 2-3 times higher or more the national minimum wage.

I remember when I was studying in Jakarta in 2015-2019, I didn't know what transportation to use to get to where I was going, because I had never been to that place, but with GoJek, everything was easy. ever lost while in Jakarta.
Good merger But remember battery energy also challenging for the future as well

@@mikemack7933 For now not so bad if you're middle or upper class citizens. But I won't recommend it. The corruption in the government system is becoming more prevalent, festering, which in time will take its toll from the people. There are many other countries to live better in.

Terus maju goto Indonesia untuk Indonesia maju trus sinergi membangun ekonomi digital Indonesia dan kawasan Asia tenggara dan selalu dunia
@noelzacharias19373 жыл бұрын
8:40 "digital economy is rivaling at least India" didn't know that something that is three times lower is considered the same. Although Indonesia's digital economy has been impressing of late, India's is still vastly larger and expected to be almost 3 times the size of Indonesia's in 2025. A research report published in 2019 by management consultant McKinsey & Co projects that it will reach a value of between USD 355 billion to USD 435 billion by 2025. It was approximately USD 200 billion in 2019.
