Surprised no one else mentioned it, but that plastic spacer on the chuck side of the indicator should be removed when in use.

If all your tools are out the Turret, I am wanting to know if I put a knife tool into Tool position 1 , do you set the X value on the work shift or in the Geometry, I know the Z is measured on work shift Tool one ,the rest would be on Geometry not too sure could someone answer my question thank you

Yes, all O.D tools/cutters should be touched off on the O.D of the part and set the geometry for that that tool. Same with boring bars for the I.D.

The only time you do this is after you crashed the machine. To see how much you moved the turret .

Did you ever level the lathe and take the twist out of the ways?

I did check it and do when I move the machine, but I think the machine is so short, it doesn't get much twist. I have a decent size Starrett machinist level.....the mill on the other hand needed quite a good amount of adjustment.

I always sweep my pockets with a 1 inch bushing .. that you hold boring bars in. Reason is the mazaks we have when you co-axial indicate the front of the pocket. It’s different throughout the pocket ..and 99% of the time you have a bushing in a boring pocket so why not indicate that

Blake is a common brand, possibly the originator, but they are commonly available from many manufacturers.

never wear gloves on a lathe

This lathe has a full enclosure....manual rules don't really apply. Spindle is never on unless the door is closed. Can you see a reason why that might still apply? I wear gloves to keep the coolant chemicals off my hands as much as I can.

@@Espressoforge I wont even ware a long sleeve shirt on a lathe or watches jewelery long hair etc its just how we were trained ... I have seen all the scary vids and swarf is deadly ... overalls another danger ... probably more for manual machines yes but I would take no chances ... btw pedistal grinders are absolute NO! for gloves I am sure you can use your imagination

@@eddaimes2247 Yes I can see for anything open and spinning...I just don't have anything in my shop like that except a dremel tool. Mill and lathe both have enclosures and I don't disable the door safety.

@@Espressoforge yes but others just see a chuck and gloves ... they may have a manual lathe and think "what a great idea"

@@eddaimes2247 and the turret? sorry just not sure I follow the logic. If I had manual machines in the shop it would make sense to me. But I run everything with the door closed and don't bypass safety switches. I've since switched to rubberized gloves, but I still need them to keep my hands from getting eaten up by coolant. On manual machines you generally don't have flood coolant flying everywhere so you need to worry about different things.
