While performing another overhead valve adjustment and spark plug change on a CNG, I came across something one of the other shops' "Super Tech" ideas that I had to clean up/deal with... Dielectric grease in the ignition harness plugs... a BIG NO NO per Cummins.
Other tools I recommend: www.amazon.com...
Repair components for plugs shown are: Pac 12162188-connector. Pac 12124074- terminals (x3).
Coil Component Part Numbers:
Ignition Coil Assembly: 4387014
Ignition Coil: 5411556
Ignition Coil Grommet (rubber gasket at top): 2888359
Ignition Coil Extension: 4389407
Spark Plug Kit: 4309391 (includes spark plug boot, pn: 2899503)
Ignition Harness: 4399854
Ignition Control Module: 5397620

Great video - I won't be doing that to my connectors any more. 😳

lol well Kriz, depends on connector and location. for the connectors on the ignition harness for this particular engine it is a no-no. as for say trailer connectors or anything that could get exposed to elements sometimes not bad idea, but depends on connectors purpose and mfr rec's. since this engine heats alot hotter than typical semi engine, especially top end, it isnt recomended as it dries up and can cement. thank you for watching!

Interesting stuff I must say I'm guilty of putting grease on those connectors before. GP

On the one Truck you were working on that had the frayed wire in the ignition harness, what was the wire for? A common feed or ground for the module? Was just curious. Plus I would like to see what the primary and secondary patterns look like on these Trucks. Maybe sometime if I'm close by I could pay you a visit a grab some captures with my Pico Scope. It would be cool to see how the secondary behaves inside the cylinder on a cng engine.

pretty much the same as regular naturally aspirated gasoline engine is basic concept of operation. the first harness i worked on quite a while back believe it was return wire (pin c) for cyl#4 or 5. (pin b primary return, pin c secondary return, pin A is voltage in) and if you are ever in area and i happen to be doing overhead or plugs (which as usual good chance) think should be alright to stop in and check them out for sure!

Thanks for the video Bearded. It looks like you are trying to hide and do this video on the down low. I hate it when the techs put grease on stuff that should be dry. Or to much RTV.

lol, was trying to get it done before someone started up truck or pressure washer again lol. and too true there, grease puking everywhere or rtv does make for pain in ass indeed!
