I can understand the Karen's point about the taste of the American Chinese food vs real Chinese food from Beijing. I spent a couple weeks in Beijing, Shanghai, and Suzhou for work a decade ago. The local food was hands down some of the best I've ever had, and it was nothing like the Chinese food I've had in America. It was at very nice local restaurants, so a part of it might be more of 4 star dining vs 2 or 3 star in the states. I dunno, I'm no chef, and our local guys ordered the food for us (fish, duck, and chicken is what I remember most, but not how they were prepared). Conversely, for lunches during the day they brought in subway and papa John's to make us Americans more comfortable. They were absolutely terrible compared to the real stuff in the states. And I had a burger King burger in the airport that was disgusting. If you can understand why the American food was not as good over there, then I think you should be able to understand to an extent that the local food over there is just so much better than most of the "chinese" you can find in the states.

The only reason I can think an Italian would refuse to eat Domino's is the same reason I, an Englishman don't eat it. Its overpriced compared to basically every other pizza place in my area. The pizzas themselves, basically the same just with a few tweaks. People eat what they want to, "authentic" food is bit of a myth, truely authentic food is whatever take the locals have done on a meal they prefer. Oh and want a real kicker, if your going by this woman's definition it authentic food, then there is no tomato in Italian food. Tomatoes are native to south america and didn't exist in Italian cooking until after the 15th century.

@@Acidfunkish - But it IS racism when one stereotypes a race. Like saying all Chinese cooking is like what she got in Beijing. China is a HUGE country and each area has their own microclimate which means specific foods are available in specific seasons and areas and that means food dishes vary depending upon the area in which they originated. Also, it may have been a Chinese scientist who figured out how to synthesize MSG, but Monosodium Glutamate is actually a natural substance and all the scientist was trying to do is make the flavoring without having to add all the specific ingredients. It's a symbol of the promise of a promise of a commitment. (Wedding ring is a symbol of the promise of commitment, therefore, an engagement ring is a promise of that promise). I'm incredibly attached to my engagement ring, and it cost 30 bucks, and I really don't care, because it was my future husband who bought it and I love him, and therefore it's important to me! And just to point it out, I have NEVER taken off my engagement ring to show it off. It stays on my finger. Where it damn well belongs until my wedding ring. And if C wanted to see it so badly, she could have asked the girlfriend to show it to her. I expect R would have a suitably smug grin on her face and presented her entire hand for inspection. Just the total disregard for R's feeling in that post. Didn't care that she was upset someone else wore it. Didn't care about her insecurities about C.

Some chew pens/pencils, especially when "figuring" things out. Or suck hard candies or lollies, and even smoking/vaping fits into the oral fixation category. My oldest is in that OF category. He had a nukie until he was 4, and had to get braces😜. He's 26 now, and yes he has a gorgeous smile 😁, but still chews on things when he's "thinking". Story #3: There is nothing wrong with thumb sucking, having a blankie/blanket, teddy or something else equally soothing from your childhood to help calm you down! We all have our quirks that we bring from being small children into adulthood that we use! *Warning TMI coming up* Heck when I've had a stressful day and cannot relax before I fell asleep, I will wake up with a pruney thumb! I personally do not consciously suck my thumb, but I have been known to when I'm already asleep! My big stress relief is texture, such as rubbing the edge of my shirt between my fingers. The feeling of the stitches and pills is so relaxing! I have an old old old shirt at home that is just the collar and t-shirt sleeves left! But it has the right edges, the right ratio of stitching and pills that can instantly relax me when I'm stressed to the max! It was nick named "Suckie" though I have never ever sucked on cloth! So it's a weird name, but man oh man does it work better then a glass of wine or an Ativan to calm me down! I do not need therapy, nor am I a child or child like, I am not insane ... I just have a little quirk that helps me relax and de-stress! Which is better then drugs, legal or otherwise or alcohol! I think using my quirk is better then getting an addiction!!! BUT I have never ever brought it into the sexy bed! I personally do not think it is appropriate to suck your thumb after sex! All it takes is to let your partner to fall asleep and you can suck your thumb without a fight! Just like keeping it in the bedroom and not all over the house! If you're partner is not comfortable with it, then keep it private!! Jeesh! Plain and simple!!!

My mom also once asked a tour guide if there was a "cheap market like ChinaTown nearby" ........when we were IN CHINA. Our poor Chinese tour guide was so confused and the family scrambled to understand her request so as to helpthe confused guide.

Story 3: YTA This is tough. I think it would be REALLY weird to have sex..and then my partner sucks their thumb. It's less about the "childish " thing though that is part of it, and more about her needing to comfort herself at that time. I get feeling vulnerable during that time, but for your partner to regress emotionally right after sex throws up some red flags. All that said, OP handled it Horribly. It would have been better to ask why she needed to do so right then. It would have been better to figure it out together and show compassion and empathy than to yell and scream about being childish.

@DarkHawk303 I agree. I'm not sure I could either ESPECIALLY after sex. That just makes me feel icky. To do something so childlike after something so adult woukd make me feel like I had done something wrong, or that my partner wasn't emotionally ready for what we did thus making me feel like I had put them in a position where they couldn't say no. Add in the abuse we heard about and it's a very weird situation.

Story 3: NTA. To do that right after something as intimate and adult like sex? She clearly has issues and needs therapy. I'd break it off if I was him, because if thumb sucking is something for "comfort", she's basically just implied that doing that right after sex is uncomfortable. I honestly would be extremely turned off from someone doing that, but for other reasons. To cut a long story short- I once knew someone who was into ABDL (adult baby diaper lover). That person was extremely manipulative and gave of serious sociopath tendencies. It was extremely uncomfortable that whole year I knew them.

@pequenaesposa3286 2 жыл бұрын
So you're saying you can't judge this without prejudice cuz you were traumatized by someone who was into it? Have you never heard of sex? The act of sex is extremely stressful that's one of the reasons it's fun, we like to be a little stressed just like when we watch movies or play games so a relaxer like a cigarette/doobie/shower/cuddle is what you need after a stresser. Thumb sucking isn't that ugly it's like having a comfort place or item, she is not responsible for having an extremely mild trauma response to deal with it. Studies show people who thumb suck always do it because it releases stress immediately, honestly I'm jealous that I don't have a way to immediately relieve stress and anxiety. You're just an asshole who doesn't respect others get over it.

All of these things are relaxers, when you do exercise it makes you want to relax after no one gets hyped up to do stuff after sex unless it's more sex. This rings true in all basic activities like exercise, sports or gaming. There is nothing wrong with thumb sucking but let's stop pretending her doing it after sex is a bad thing.

As some one with allergies you don't take communal food with our asking what is in it, or just don't take it at all... people like that make it so much harder for people with allergies... a lot of places now have no substitutions or charge extra even if it's just to take something off

I actually do have issues with high levels of msg. But like really high levels. Makes my stomach majorly hurt. I went to the doctors when it first started. I just have to back off on the instant ramen. 😂
