If anyone has a chance to go train at this gym, I recommend that you do so. I was there (for only a day unfortunately) while I was in LA in December, and learned so much from just one session. Hope to visit the gym again next December.

Dude I have been thinking a ton lately about the fact that we sometimes get trained to be compliant like this simply by being a friendly training partner. Realistically that’s a super bad habit. I wonder if we can very intentionally train to have 2 modes - drilling/compliance mode and fight mode. That way you don’t end up just going down because that’s what you practiced in an inappropriate situation. Love that point that you highlight there at the end!!! Osss.

I've been needing this, I love takedowns that don't involve shooting in with little to no prior setups. I always get sprawled on because I suck at setting up a shot as my first option, but if I go on the attack with something like arm drags, throw by's, duck under's, etc, my shots are infinitely more successful. The problem is, I haven't had a good explanation as to how to set up a proper throw by yet.

Check out wrestling university for that, its really all based in a couple types of faints, some simple footwork and level changes and grip fighting for stuff like what you talked about

I like use Headlock Pinch when wrestling in this position. Locking my grip gives that extra leverage I need against younger guys with more raw power.

« YOU DONT HAVE TO FALL!!! » two stripe white belt here and that hit me hard…. I think I’ve allowed that "good training partner " mindset to hinder me. I ain’t falling down NO MORE

Forehead frame to biceps looks like a very intriguing detail, I'll definitely have to play with it. Thanks for sharing! Would you say it prevents/stifles a snap down? I'd guess probably not entirely, if partner brings his entire upper body towards the floor, but should require a lot more effort and risk than without the forehead framing on biceps.

If he brings his entire body to the ground it won't matter as long as you keep your forehead glued to that bicep and go with the momentum

I would suggest watching it as many times as you need and going through the move with a partner until you feel it.

Love that forehead to bicep technique. Never saw that before. I usually use the shoulder shrug while stepping in sideways technique which puts a lot of pressure on their shoulder. Learned that from Gokor Chvichian years ago but I also like this technique.
