I’ve been climbing very consistently based off of the knowledge gained from your videos (specifically the videos on wave management and setting up roam timers correctly). I’ve been low plat before but lost all sense of game knowledge because I put myself into a slump of auto piloting and basically just forgotten what I knew. Was a jg main before watching your videos and decided to see how far I can get in mid lane off of your guidance on these videos. I’ve climbed from Iron 1 to Silver 2 in 45 games, my win rate is steadily going up as is my impact on other lanes after gaining an advantage mid lane. Thank you so much for the incredible guides, hoping to reach at least Gold in the next couple of weeks. Maybe get past my jg peak in a few months!

You are definetly one of the greatest educational content producers on this platform and of all things you teach about a game. All your videos are extremely interesting and I think it's amazing how we're purely learning ur class while at the same time we are entertained enough that this feels less like learning and more like a fun time. Pls keep teaching us how to improve at the game and I sincerely apreciate how u teach higher level stuff for free. I was trying to find a way to learn more usefull things for high elo that I didn't know and I struggled a lot to find anything (free cuz I m broke) till I found ur channel. I have seen a few other coaches videos too but yours are by far the best I found, explaining things way better and with a really nice atitude that doesn't makes me feel like u are fed up trying to teach us but enjoying doing so. Ur videos also cover aspects in more general terms which helps people way more overall than when I see some other coach video which is obviously specified for the person he is coaching and the particular matchup on that game. U also dont just say what we should do but why, and while I already know quite a lot of the things u are talking about it really helps on those I don't (and I apreciate it too for the lower elo people who are learning it for the firt time while I remind myself of the basic which is always good). Hope ur channel keeps growing and that in the future u eventually start gaining as much from this videos as u would from using the same amount of time to do private coaching. The greater ur channel grows the faster it will keep rising and I enjoy very much watching u rising up and getting the credit that u diserve. I hope that u are rewarded for ur efforts and that we are able to pay u back in views for all the quality in your videos. Thank you very much and see you next video

our last section highlighting how you kinda need to know fundamentals before you can identify win conditions is exactly why I feel more able to do so after watching your stuff. I remember the first time watching someone else's random guide on matchups where they just kept saying what the win cons were and they would change for each match up but I had no idea why that was the case or how to identify them for different team comps and so it wasn't very useful. Ngl up until recently had no idea what the fundamentals even were so your stuff helps a lot so I can adapt within the game because as you said, people don't execute matchups as they should so the game changes constantly.

By the way, you have 25k subs, prepare the 50k/100k video because you gonna need it soon! Its ok if you cant answer everything or replay to all whit details anymore, a lot of info and questions are all ready answered in your videos and a lot of us only write to thank you and let you know how your work make better players and a better game. As a newish player, your videos are by far the most helpful I've seen. I've noticeably improved since I started watching a few days ago, and they actually got me to switch to mid. If you don't already have one, I think you could do a really well video for actual new players, when I started I had a lot of trouble finding videos explaining really basic things, like how/why to last hit, when to roam, should I be helping kill the dragon, basic places to ward, ect. Because even in a lot of videos trying to do that, they don't really go into detail, just big info dumps with no real explanations.

Watching these vids helps so much, ive learned every roll because of these mid lane videos and now i feel comfortable playing a lane depending on my mood. mid lane is really fast paced, you have to be thinking and moving around the map every second. top lane is extremely slow and isolated, you have room for tp plays but you mostly wait for a play around rift. jungle is kinda dependent on your playstyle but usually its all about looking for opportunities and acting on them, its fast paced but it feels slow and calm until you're ready to do something chaotic. bot lane is just stressful and you have to micromanage everything, if you don't have a friend you need to be extremely patient and possibly mute your support because they're gonna feed until you hit your powerspike, then you carry and take over the map objectives

Fantastic series, watched the entire thing. I've spent more time watching than playing but played a couple of games today and already noticed I started getting more options to work with in game. Like most people, I usually tunnel visioned on my lane before and ONLY warded the bushes directly next to the lane, and found myself dying from ganks atleast once a game. The warding and wave management (though I am quite useless at it still) has made me see results. But I definitely need to look into the "Losing gracefully" part more, as I usually put in all I got to see if I can win trades and such. Might just be a byproduct of me trying to learn all of this while still learning how to play Azir, but I have put it into practice a little bit. Thanks so much for this!

Curtis, I feel this is one of the greatest secrets that keep us in low elo. Playing around win conditions is about utilising the game knowledge you have acquired throughout years of experience. They also change depending on team-comps and state of the game, they are never fixed. They can be different for each game. That's why it's hard to master making the right decision-making.

Thank you very much for the knowledge that you are sharing, it really helps getting better at the game. Also i like how you changed the videos from reviewing VODs to screenshots. I feel like if you are reviewing a VOD there is a bit too much info going on, because I have to focus not only on what you are saying, but also on the gameplay itself and when I'm watching the video for the first time it's just bit too overwhelming. But when there is a screenshot I see the state of the game, you explain the things that we should focus on in the current gamestate and then I just can focus on the things that you are saying. Again thank you very much you are the best!!!

I really wish everyone would watch your videos especially this one and the part where you talk about losing gracefully. I feel like so many times I'll try to play to my win condition and give up mid tower or cs and people comment on my cs or they said gg mid gap etc and its like they can't grasp the "losing gracefully concept". It makes me so sad. Everyone would be such a better player if they watch your videos for sure!

Hello, greetings from Brazil! I just wanted to say that, at least for me, you made the game fun again with all the theories and such! I am not so skilled, I guess, I don't have the time to really climb and play a Lot of games, but now, every game I have something to try, to learn and even watching my pro teams here is much more clearer now. I was a main adc (currently loving Playing orianna/veigar/ekko though) and yesterday I tried to create tempo and caos with Kayn jungle and was so big! I am not a jungle, but I felt so powerful having a Lot of clear speed than having to create paths to do these chekky ganks with my tempo! The point is, to a player that plays casually for 5-6 years, you opened my mind and made me have basis for my own theories and such. I feel the novelty of a New player and I don't know, a little cientist haha Wanted to let you know how big you are! Cheers!

yo coach Curtis, as a mid/jungle main, I would really love to see a dedicated mid + jungle duo fundamentals with both control based midlaner, and with assasin midlaner. I've begun to pull-off things with my teammate, randomly calling him to gank enemy jungler on his red using my jungle-tracking skills gained from your jungle-tracking video. Sometimes midlaners(or my jungler) listen, sometimes they dont, but when they do, we honor each other after 100% of games. And that 1 decision completely tilts the enemy jungler(which is the worst role to tilt IMO) and boosts synergy and builds trust between the two of u.

What do you write in chat, or how do you comunicate with teammates? Often enough, I dont know what to type then I panik and write something which is not helping the gamestate. Because team mentality is really important I think it's as equally important to know how to chat/comunicate properly. Thank you again, cheers

That could be a decent video tbh. But a few quick tips.. 1) I try to keep things very positive/short sharp concise giving them PLENTY of warning. So If I know I can't contest early river scuttles I'll say that wayyy before scuttle even spawns, so the jg will know. 2) Rather then saying 'What NOT to do', always say 'What we CAN do'. E.g Instead of "Don't get engaged on mid" you should say "Hover me here for 1 wave then I group" 3) Reminding the team of the win con, e.g. We win teamfights or We win this drag fight, WAY in advance is very helpful and can give people an overall direction in the game

Lets make an application (mobile or web) that gives a game plan to users during the loading screen. This would take your course info and consolidate it while people are learning. It shows the spots to ward for the opponent jungler at the beginning of the game, it shows bullets of early and mid-game milestones and win conditions based on the team-comps. It shows timers of dangerous ganks or objectives. It shows weather you should be crashing or freezing. All just a summary for people to have a gameplan.

adam kim I’m pretty sure this violates the rules. If it is just showing data that anyone can access through the riot API then it’s fine but it shouldn’t give people an in game advantage

@@sauronsquidmain797 It would be pre game data, not an overlay, so it would be hitting the web API and using deductive reasoning to come up with a gameplan.

So my question is= should i focus on my botside, since dragons are so op in s10 or should i just keep slowpushing and keeping zed undertower to get the turretplating?. Might add aswell that im more of a team player, i dont like being the only win condition, i like when my teammates also snowballs. Which is accually one of the reasons i love twisted fate because the roaming potential is so nice. Have a lovely day dude and thanks for this mad good vid again ! Oh yeah btw i forgot to sub to u in the past, now im subbed to u. cheers gold3

I just get so stuck in a game, focus wise. It's so hard for me to change my game plan or to take a brief moment to get a proper overview of the game state so I just turn into autopilot and lose the game. Any advice to break out of this "mind lock mode" ?

Can you do a video of how to comeback into a game when behind? Specifically when you get 3 men mid constantly early game but game is still winnable. Love your videos coach :'3.

I've been playing for a year and got low gold and just wondering should i try to keep minnion wave in middle against assassins like talon or zed? My jg goes for scuttle then opens because i cant help him under tower even though i ping him off. Is this my fault which i feel like it is or a jungler fault

Is there a source anywhere where I can find out who do I win against or lose or if I should go for fast or slow plays, should I trade or sit back should I roam? Or do I just play and suffer until I go up against everyone multiple times? My main currently is Lux, used to do support but have changed to mid as tired of inting adcs... At the moment I know in general I win against melee unless they have great mobility such as Katarina, I can push them out of lane and even solo kill early but after some time they simply dodge my Es and Qs. Against other mages I'd say it's a skill match up but more often than not my jungle or bot lane feeds the mid and/or their jungle camps me mid which I may die to a dive or two but nothing catastrophic however my side lanes aren't taking advantage of their safety from jungle.

Hey curtis, i have a question, I’m currently maining ekko, and a lot of high elo players are taking time warp tonic. Personally I think magical foot wear is way stronger, because you get a 300 gold lead for free and instead of 5% movement speed you get 10%. So why are high elo players taking timewarp tonic instead? Is it because of the instant heal? Or that you get faster to lane during early game? Thank you for taking the time :D i love your channel ❤️
@CoachCurtis
@CoachCurtis 4 жыл бұрын
Great question! - Time warp tonic is super essential in my opinion to Ekko because it allows you to play for tempo resets and bully the opponent off waves, AND the bonus MS you get while the pot is ticking helps you close the gap for your E as well. Keep in mind that if you have the short term resource advantage over your opponent it can allow you to bully off the enemy off that one wave or sacrifice more HP knowing you can reset anyway after you get the wave. This all stems from the fact that ekko wants to play the lane fast and always play for push and move OR push and reset. - You can still go magical footwearr, just go timewarp and magical footwear OR timewarp and futures market OR timewarp and DMAT, all are viable

Hey Curtis, so currently I’m in bronze , and I try to climb, and I’ve almost finished watching your midlane fundamentals series. And I’m trying to adapt those skills game for game. I’m also recording my games and go over them by myself trying to find mistakes. But most of the time I can’t find any. So my question: How do you identify mistakes by yourself? Is it necessary to get coaching sessions in order to identify the mistakes you are doing? Or is there a way you can find them yourself ? Thanks ;)

Think a good comparsion for losing gracefully is playing CSGO. If you are in a ranked game, and its just not your day. Missing shots, playing bad, etc... Be the support. Be the guy that buys that extra nade for the team, go in first as bait so the guy popping off can trade off your life. Even Faker isnt always the win condition.

Hello Coach Curtis, i've a simple yet very complicated question for me: I'm playing LOL since basically season 1-2 (when we used to have elo not as tiers but as numbers) and as long as i can remember myself playing this game i always was on gold-plat level no matter the lane i've played or tried to play. Over this long time i surely know all the fundamentals you're talking about i know what is needed actually to be done to win a game but i keep catching me on mistakes after the games. Like when im playing live i know i have to do something or keep doing something but keep screwing it up like a newbie and there goes my question. I know things i've to do or be doing but i don't see it when playing or don't do it while playing even tho i know should be doing it... How to fix this what can i do to actually start applying things i know in games and make my games more consistent or at least improve at applying my knowledge... (I hope you understand my question how I explained it... English is not my native language... i rly tried)
@CoachCurtis
@CoachCurtis 4 жыл бұрын
Well this is where champion identity comes into play. Knowing WHEN to apply certain fundamentals is directly associated and dependent on the champion you play. So maybe you are playing too many champions, or swapping around your champion pool often. This is what this problem says to me

hey coach what do you think about a video about analysing own replays? I understand your concepts really well and sometimes struggle to implement them. Now I really try to analyse my replays but when I analyse them there are so many questions in my head: Shall I activate fog of war to see where the enemies were during the game? Are the conclusions I draw even correct or was it an individual case and my decision making was correct? Sorry for my bad english btw. i hope you could understand everything. Atm. I am just really frustrated in LoL because i was diamond last season and nowdays I am hardstuck plat IV, even tho i think i really improved over the last few months.

Hi, I wanted to thank you for your videos, really helpful and useful. I made some sort of essay that I wanted to post on Reddit but it was removed because it was too long. I was wondering if you could read it and give your thoughts. I basically explain my knowledge and point of view to how to close games, especially how to do it step by step in late game.

How do you play lanes where mid lane priority is completely one sided? Cassiopeia versus Galio, I need cleanse i wont be able to get back for tear
@CoachCurtis
@CoachCurtis 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah they can be real tricky. As Cassio in that matchup you have to just accept reality that you won't neccesarily be able to get pressure in the early portion of the game, minimize by avoiding Galio Q damage and farming extremely efficiently. Most cassios try to contest too hard and just die or blow flash/cleanse way too early. Once you get to lost chapter/tear you can start to do work

22:28 In chess, it's called "zugzwang" - when the only possible move you can make to win (or not to lose), is to not move. I remember one ranked game where I was being completely stomped early game. Anyone on the enemy team could dive the tower, kill me, and stay alive. Jungle was not safe. My team was raging and I was tilted for several reasons. What I did? I closed the game, spent about 3 minutes looking at the "reconnect" button, came back, warned my team I was muting everyone and that I would just farm safely. Muted everyone, just split pushed VERY safely (like, when a fight is happening on the other side of the map I would ward, push 2 or 3 waves that would crash on tower, and return). Eventually I got stronger so I could split push more, and finally go to team fights and be useful. They carried me HARD. Sometimes, we just have to literally do "nothing", or else you will make the game harder for those who might carry you.
