coach, this has genuinely been the greatest help i have ever received as a mid laner. I have been stuck in d4 for a few weeks now and i wasnt sure what to do about it. As soon as i started implementing what you have taught me in this video and in the other mid lane fundamental videos, i have been extremely successful in getting my team ahead and being able to carry games. It is almost like you flipped a switch in my brain and its was never going to be flipped if you never came out to help me. I was so impressed with your ability to coach players that I decided to look you up, and it was no surprise to me that you were a coach for a professional league team. Yo, these tips are really coming in handy :D I was blueside as Zed and was versus a Zoe. I noticed the warwick was lvl 5 and did not have items yet, so I knew he was going to back soon. I ward the drag pit with ease as I pushed in my lane beforehand. And lo and behold: The warwick appeared on my ward a minute later. I pinged that he was on it. And we bullied him and his team out of the drag pit. And secured the drag. Later, I won the game because I knew where he was constantly. (50% of the time). but still, feelsgoodman.

As one of those very low ELO mids stuck in ELO hell who has a solid Micro game and an atrocious Macro game, who can consistently carry, but only if the other lanes don't totally throw, even if I am not going to be able to predict an unpredictable jungler (ie. every low elo jungler) this video is amazing in getting into the Macro mindset. Great guide once again One thing you could have perhaps mentioned, or maybe you will do it in a separate video is some tips for getting the lane into a correct state for these 2:50, 3:00 etc. wards out, cause you can't just run out of the midlane when they are shoving you in and ward their blue or in other unfavourable circumstances. Thanks for the effort ^^
@CoachCurtis4 жыл бұрын
Hey mate great suggestion. This is why I kind of did this video after the wave management and trading video. I think that In a lot of circumstances you can just ward between the waves, yes you might miss 1/2 creeps but a lot of the time it is worth it. OR if you are in a really weak lvl 1/2 champ, you have 2 options. 1) wait for the wave to bounce and at lvl 3 try and go for a sneaky ward on the corner of the ledge (after you've undergone threat assessment or with the protection of your jg hovering) 2) ward lvl 1 on the raptors knowing you won't be able to ward for a while

Hey Curtis, was watching the video and saw you put Qiyana as a machete jungler, but I’m pretty sure every pro takes talisman because you can clear red side and then use your lvl 3 and the invisibility combined with the aoe from your q gives you really good healing especially at raptors. Regardless, thank you for another great video

Many of the tips are things that I really don't like as a jungler and could end up taking away a lot of my tempo and pressure. @aggronex7204 жыл бұрын
As a main jungler, that never plays in lane i have to say this is very detailed, this should be basics for laners, got few more tips that could be very useful. First you forgot about twich jungle and his level 2 ganks (and where to ward to avoid the first blood while not playing like a bi***), second is a big tip for higher elo, do not get your ward on raptors get spotted at 1.30, junglers can crate mindgames and avoid that ward so you feel safe while you actually are not, in general a good tip is not to get seen placing those wards because sometimes they harm more than they benefit if spotted, another tip is to check the bush on the oppsite side of the red wall(while warding raptors) , there might be a defensive pink and you will lose only 2seconds more so its definitely worth. And it worked for me and maybe could work for you too about your camera problem, i use my f1 f2 f3...keys on my mouse so i can quickly check all lanes, as a jungler i use them every time my teammates lose health, breaks a fight and whenever i change mapside, could work for midlaners too.
@CoachCurtis4 жыл бұрын
Yeah in hindsight I probably should have mentioned twitch jungle. I think thats a great point though about trying not to get seen warding as a mid laner. I actually have 2 of the lanes bound on my mouse but I need more side buttons :(

Great video coach. But I’ve got a question. When I’m playing something like a Kassadin mid and I can’t push out, what do I do with my wards? I often sit on 2 wards because it’s very risky to get a ward on the dot brush.
@subaruthecar22174 жыл бұрын
I believe that in one of his vision videos he mentioned that champs with no early pressure such as Kass and Vlad can use their trinkets to get deep vision at level 1.
@RxzeroCP4 жыл бұрын
What I'd recommend is : Let the enemy push, let the wave crash, build a slow push, make it crash under the enemy's turret and then you will be able to ward more efficiently.
@RxzeroCP4 жыл бұрын
Although that could take a bit long, it's safer and more guaranteed to work at least
@CoachCurtis4 жыл бұрын
Either ward around 2:20 while getting pushed in inbetween the waves OR ward level 1 on the raptors :) OR sit on the 2 wards for a little bit and ward just as the wave is bouncing of your tower at lvl 3. Remember if you do ward as your minion wave is bouncing out, to be assessing gank threat, your junglers location and the time in the game

@ketilmathiasenviborg35424 жыл бұрын
Great video again! Also for beginner junglers. One small thing, in my experience many machete junglers do not do Golems on the first clear or last in the clear. Golems takes the longest and is far from river. I as an Elise and WW main would almost always take blue, gromp, wulves and red. Then gank, scuttle, clear rest or reset. Golems are great to take when comming from base its on your way onto the map 🙂.
@CoachCurtis4 жыл бұрын
Hey Ketil, in lower elo you are spot on. Most junglers don't do krugs which is actually a big mistake since you want to clear them asap, because on your second clear Krugs are really valuable and get you very far ahead. Now even if you do the other path where you do Blue-->Gromp-->Red etc the timings are all similar the the warding and tracking stuff still applies :)
@ketilmathiasenviborg35424 жыл бұрын
Yea it is a small thing and does not change the warding position, it only change what side to lean on. Really, i have not seen that pathing in plat. Ill check it out 🙂. Thanks again 😊!

So I don’t know if this a stupid question, but what about jungle tracking around mid game? I actually figured a lot of those wards out on my own intuitively, so the early game is usually okay. I sometimes watch King Nidhogg’s videos where he precisely tracks the enemy jungler by consistently counting their cs, but how can you do that when junglers often catch waves when their laners die or back? It would mess up their cs in tab. I feel like mid game tracking could help with objectives like drake or rift herald. Amazing video, by the way :)
@CoachCurtis4 жыл бұрын
Mid game jungle tracking doesn't really exist. Any jungle tracking post 7-9 mins is not realistic because there are too many variables. The only thing you can do is make educated guesses based off how laners are playing, what the next objective is, and which side of the map is actually winning. :)
@btayar24124 жыл бұрын
At 43 mins, you are against yi, so basically he should take the red side then move to the other side for blue and you should ward around 2:30 in bush at blue side so you can see him depending on what you explained earlier. My question is why did you ward the raptors while its a machete jungler at 2:15

Hey Coach Curtis, do you think that the new jungle items in season 11 will effect some of the concepts taught in this video, primarily VSing talisman/machete junglers, or will champions still maintain the same clears as before? And if those concepts will still be worthy to learn and applicable?
@bingsoo27434 жыл бұрын
Hi Coach, I love your videos and ur channel is awesome. You put a lot of effort into them and they are very informative and has helped me improve a lot. Keep up the great vids! I have a question regarding warding in the enemy jungle(near raptors). You said that after the first ward expires around 4min we should place another one. What if the jungler find the ward and get rid of it because when the first ward expires it leaves the blue mark showing where the first ward is so they may know. I was just curious about this.
@CoachCurtis4 жыл бұрын
I don't really know about that interaction, they can't use sweeper twice anyway, so even if they know its warded its still massive for you because it gives you a big side to lean to :)

Curtis i have a question. In my games i see that the junglers, no matter if they're machete or talisman, they start in the buff where the bot lane is to get a better leash. @CoachCurtis4 жыл бұрын
Hahaha that is usually something you see in silver. But in Platinum that really shouldn't be happening often LOL. But if you know for a fact that they started blue then just ward raptors or the opposite side dot brush because you know which side they will end up on :)

The only thing seperating good jungle qiyana from bad jungle qiyana players is using the talisman on her to stay healthy in aoe camps by utilizing the invis for as long possible before camps reset. Thats due to the nerf of her W passive AS. So you dont wanna take the Hunters Machete as you recommend. And the level 3 path for machete users who likes to level 3 gank isnt red -> krugs -> blue, but red -> blue -> gromp. Krugs take way too lang time to clear and the path is just bad and slow. Another great video as always! Btw coach, is there any possibilities that u can creat view only google docs for these fundamental videos that just list out major points of each video and post a link in descrption? That would be way more efficient for us to revisit the video.

I noticed that you put Qiyana in the Machete section but she is actually pretty reliant on talisman in combination with her brush Q to stay healthy in her clears!
@CoachCurtis4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I actually noticed this from another comment pointing that out, I got put off because a few qiyana junglers I've seen also go machete but I think she is one of those versatile ones
@ushandrul4 жыл бұрын
Well, i'm quite agree with you about the tracking & pathing But it works on hi elo, where junglers know better. In low elo, it's not that simple! Junglers can be unpredictible with erratics moves.
@CoachCurtis4 жыл бұрын
I do mention this within the video, that in gold 4 and below jungle tracking is very hard because the junglers don't know what they are doing. But with the jungle understanding like I talk about in my examples, you can still know what camps they have/haven't done.
@khanondrum2 жыл бұрын
Is there any chance of this being updated for the new jungle items and champion meta?
@oraziorillo98784 жыл бұрын
Man, your videos are so detailed, I literally love them. Btw I have a question about the case in which I am versing a a Talisman jungler: for this situation you suggested 2 very deep ward locations. But if I am not able to push my lane I won't have the priority to put any deep ward, so how should I use my early wards in this case?
@CoachCurtis4 жыл бұрын
You can also still just ward dot brush inbetween the waves around 2:30-2:40 if you want to see them on the scuttle eventually, or you can even ward raptors level 1 :)
@Aphixy2 жыл бұрын
Hey coach could you perhaps redo this video and how it applies to the new meta especially now since there is only blue and red smite and no longer machete and talisman. Thanks.

I love these videos Curtis! They are extremely helpful. What do you think about Azir in the current meta? Also, what leagues would to define as 'high elo?' Thanks!

I think Azir is actually not too bad, currently with Lethal Tempo or even Hail of Blades it's not bad. I'm actually going to do a video on him soon. I define high elo Master+ or GM+

So are you saying that you always get shoved in on purpose if you are playing a melee vs ranged matchup or are there certain conditions that have to be in this particular matchup (+jungle matchup)? And how do you know that for instance a lee sin or any other machete jungler will do a Red--->to krugs----> to blue clear OR a Red---> to Blue.---> To gromp clear? Or is it just a 50/50 ?
@CoachCurtis4 жыл бұрын
The red/krugs/blue vs Red/blue/gromp really doesn't change too much, the only difference is that the gromp path is a bit faster, aslong a you are warding at 2:30 you are fine regardless, there is no way of knowing. Generally it really depends on the matchup both mid and jungle. There is no clear cut formula :)
@KyleBarta4 жыл бұрын
curtis I'm in Gold 3-4 and 90% of the games I play my jungler starts bot side for a bot side leash. this makes it very difficult to track because they do it even on junglers that would normally start on the opposite side for aoe camps like raptors. I could just always ward topside at 2:30 but if they happen to have started top it leaves me feeling very blind and unsafe. Thoughts?

Great video but whenever I play both junglers take completely random paths with no logic to them and there always seems to be a jungle diff... I've switched from support to mid as I think I understand the game better now and my friend has decided to do jungle but he isn't the greatest if he doesn't get fed. On a separate note, would it be beneficial to play a bit of jungle to understand the opponent's thinking? I usually bully the enemy mid but the reason I ultimately lose lane is that the enemy jungle gets fed and just constantly camps mid and I can't even farm under tower without getting one shot. Is there anything a mid can do to stop that apart from the usual ff15 and spamming jg diff in all chat, I learnt that much from my short experience of league.
@caozicoaching4 жыл бұрын
You said that when I am versing a kindred I should ward in front of the pit before the wave arrives but how does that help if kindred COULD just go from red---going river --- passing pixel brush into the blasting cone? Like how am I or my team gonna see her Then? I kinda calculated that kindred needs like almost most junglers 10 sec for red buff (+ 2; -2 seconds) so at around --1:40-- she finished red --- going to pixelbrush should take her like around 10 seconds so we at ~1:50 game time and from there she will need like 5 seconds to the blasting cone (or she q's over to blue) and at around ~2:00 gametime she she will start blue which will take her like 13-14 seconds so at 2:13-2:14 there is no way my jungler will be there at blue. I am thinking like that it's a 50/50 guess if she goes through pit after red or she moves through from red normally to blasting cone (Don't get me wrong it would be dumb to go like a regular jungler from red to blasting cone if they invade because it's time inefficient for kindred to do ). All I'm saying is that ESPECIALLY in low elo kindreds that vertical jungle won't use their q to skip terrain so they would just move to blasting cone and if they do that the ward I placed in front of the pit wouldn't spot her. EDIT: I have no idea why some stuff is crossed out Ps: I just wanted to see if there is like high elo players that do exactly the same specific strat curtis was talking about when It comes like to kindred and bro... the first thing I was searching in search bar was "Dopa tf vs zed" (why dopa? Because I am a fan boy of him) and dopa was actually versus a kindred in that game and holy shit he placed the ward right where you said in the video. Now you got full credibility my man curtis.

I always like to play 2v2 with my jg to fight at 3:15, is Zed good? I know from your videos that Zoe is good, Sylas is it too, Rumble (with heal even more), but I'm not sure if assasins as Zed, Fizz, Irelia or Nocturne are good... is there any way to know that quickly because I would like to know if my enemy is better than me or at least even in 2v2s just by seeing if he is a mage, an assasin or something like that.
@cekavicok4 жыл бұрын
24:00 Actually if you are clearing blue buff and play against kindred by the time she finish red and come your blue, you will be doing gromp and he will be on maybe 30% hp and thats ez kill for her.

Okay, so i just picked up Diana about a week ago, (roughly the same time i started watching your amazing video's) and i have been doing really well in my ranked games. I have tried putting your advice to practice def not easy as i am not a great macro player, but i am finding my self winning games based on my opponent goofing up and me punishing them in lane. So i don't know if its that i am good, or they are bad. Do you think i should slow down my 1v1's, even though they are working? I'm worried it might just be reinforcing bad habits rather than me actually improving.
