Idk I feel like any actual festival goer that goes for the music and such knows and expects the long waits and such but that shit is worth it. I went to all good music fest in 2010 and I remember sitting in traffic for literally 5 hours just to get in and that was after we drove like 6 or so hours from northern Ohio to West Virginia. I’d do it again if I had the chance. Had some terrible stories to tell about it but it was an experience like no other.

No really bc Coachella just seems like a big fashion show rather than an actual concert lmao outdoor festivals are always just a mess. I used to go to so many festivals when I was a teen then I stopped feeling the hype as I got older lol

Tips and tricks for anyone wanting to go to a festival: Buy a bum bag/fanny pack, having both your hands free makes your life so much easier, and significantly reduces your chances of losing your stuff. The toilets are always a smelly nightmare, take a thin (not hot) scarf and spray it with your favourite perfume, then you can pull it up over your face and will help you not vomit from the awful smell. Buy one of those dirt cheap throwaway phones, that you can literally just text or phone from and nothing else (this is true in the uk, not sure about other countries). The battery lasts forever and it greatly improves the signal because it has no WiFi or apps interfering with the signal. Make a plan with your friends before hand for a meeting spot if you ever get lost from each other. That way you all know to go to your chosen spot to meet up with them if you get separated. Hope this was helpful and stay safe ✌️

it’s all about profit, they don’t care about providing a good service because people will come and pay SO much money even if the experience is awful. It’s a signal of wealth/status, you’re “living your best life” by going to coachella. People drop so much money, even if they can’t really afford it, to go. The owner is notorious for things like donating money to anti-LGBTQ+ organizations, and people STILL go. it’s an important conversation about the absurdity of culture/marketing/money. Social media is often a perfect tool for capitalism 🫠

I will never understand why Americans are willing to pay SO much for concerts and festivals. 1300 dollars for a VIP weekend PER PERSON? For that money they better get me the most luxurious and exclusive experience ever. If they charged these amounts in Europe people deadass just wouldn't come. They average 3-4 day festival here is around 300 euros (316 dollars) and we still get world-renowned artists. I remember for a John Mayer show in 2019 I payed like 50 euros and I was almost front row. Harry Styles' upcoming show is like 70 or 80 euros. I've seen the ticket prices for their American tours and for similar seats they would charge hundreds and sometimes even thousands of dollars. It's insane to me. Idk how much influence artists have on the pricing but companies like Ticketmaster are in a position where they know they can charge these amounts to American audiences so they will. They don't care about the fans.
@RosanneSol

100% it's mad! Idk what ticket prices are for Glastonbury but Reading and Leeds are a few hundred I think that's the most expensive I can think of for the UK. I think I paid about the equivalent of €80 for Muse and the same for Fall Out Boy (lol), and those were both instances of me really thinking on it.

Honestly I’m usually on Chris’s side, but he’s in the wrong in the Uber story. Sorry, but it just screams of privilege. The passenger limit has always existed, but because of Covid, they dropped it even further for the safety of the driver. You can see the limit of passengers before you book your ride. It says it on the screen. Not only that, but they may not have insurance covered by Uber for front seat passengers. Not to mention, their job is on the line every time they break the rules. Had the group ordered an UberX they would have been able to all go in the car. Is it annoying? Yeah, as a passenger-but have some sympathy for the people working for a low wage whilst putting up with drunk high people constantly. They are so worried about repercussions, they’re willing to allow passengers to do so much for fear of a bad rating. Granted, that first driver wasn’t-and that’s great. But you yourself admitted it felt unsafe.
@mainstreetsweetheart7403
@mainstreetsweetheart7403 2 жыл бұрын
Even Uber XL doesnt let you use the front seat! Had this problem when I went to NY with a friend group for Easter weekend and we would order Uber XL specifically to fit everyone but some drivers still got mad about having to put their extra back seats up?? They really should have an option to let drivers know how many passengers are coming in bc it was so annoying to deal with.
@stephmgreen
@stephmgreen 2 жыл бұрын
@@mainstreetsweetheart7403 I mean, that makes sense. Covid. No one’s wages are protected if they contract it. They just lose out. It’s their car, they can set the rules. Idk, dude. Just walk. Or order another car. A lot of drivers are crazy-but it’s their property so if you don’t like them or feel unsafe, get out, report it or tell them but to complain on a national stage about it is just a bit much to me. I don’t condone this, but if you search KZbin some drivers film and upload their rides (it’s gross, but I found this weird hole of KZbin a few months back) and while I think the drivers are acting crazy and in the wrong for filming and uploading and behaving in certain ways-it out it all in perspective for me. You will see so many people acting the way Chris did and you’ll see exactly why that’s not okay.
@mainstreetsweetheart7403
@mainstreetsweetheart7403 2 жыл бұрын
@@stephmgreen and I agree, that sucks they don’t have any compensation but my problem was the cars that claimed to be XL to fit more than the 3 people allowed in regular Ubers, still don’t accommodate bigger groups when they’re supposed to have more than the one back row to do so. Otherwise I’m paying extra for no reason. I’m trying to avoid sitting in the front too! They have the right to handle their car how they want, but Uber as a company is the one that needs to get their protocols straight across the board because some drivers are more lax on the COVID policies than others so everyone just needs to be on the same page to avoid these reactions.

Half of these problems are avoided when I car camped! It was soooo the way to go. No waiting in lines to leave, can go take a nap whenever you want etc. Of course as expected with Coachella it's dusty, you wear a mask. There isn't gonna be service haha which is expected. I've been to Coachella four times. Always GA, never camping. 1. I always stay at golf course right across the street from the festival. It's a LONG, dusty ass walk but it beat the uber situation/prices IMO. Also sometimes you'lll run into a random person with a minivan/golf cart who will give you a ride on the spot. 2. Coachella has some magic - a friend lost their phone, we called it and someone answered it and we met up with them and they gave us the phone back (meanwhile dozens of phones are pickpocketed at Coachella every year). I'm manifesting that someone found your camera, meant to give it to Lost & Found but forgot (we all lit tbh), will look through the pics and recognize Rebecca or something and be able to find you.

In high school, I left my car in the school parking lot while we all went on a trip to Maine. This is in Vermont so it’s actually surprising I locked my car doors. My car (along with a few others) was broken into and they stole my huge CD collection. Many of those were “mix tapes” that I wish I could hear now. I didn’t care about my window being broken or anything else, I just wanted my memories back. So I totally understand. We found out who did it ultimately. A couple of fucked up kids from my town. But I never got my glorious/cringey CD collection back. Sigh.

i bartended at this college bar ($1.50 wells, $2 for everything else 🙄) and someone broke into all the cars that were parked in the back. i had my workout shoes and an extra pair of shoes just in case i wanted to change. they stole ONE OF EACH 😤 as well as a bunch of other stuff BUT i was so pissed that they left me with just one of each of my pairs of shoes. like at least take them both lmao

its honestly refreshing to hear other people talk about Coachella/music festivals being a scam and incredibly overpriced. these ev ents are only for people with money and like you said, people working "regular" jobs literally can't afford it

Yeah tent + sun = An oven So, when the sun comes up, you have fo as well. I camped ONCE in a tent, after that I made sure to bunk with extended family that had a camper. I should add all the times I camped I was under the age of 13 lol and not at a festival in the desert.
