"Look at that Guardian run" - One thing I like about these Coast Guard episodes being Clearwater, Sitka or Astoria. The banter between the crew. Its a combination of pure professionalism and you can tell that they love their job.

Absolutely Shannon I couldn’t agree with you more. Their communication with each other and the way they are irl together is just OUTSTANDING! And then once everything is done they’re able to make little jokes to each other. They are hands down AMAZING and whether they’re the pilot, the swimmer, flight mechanic it doesn’t matter they are ALL hero’s in my opinion!!!!

Oh, SO true! I was coming out of anesthesia from surgery once. It was terrifying. I felt I was miles under the water. Suddenly, I felt a hand holding mine and pulling me up to the surface. I've never forgotten it. The nurse knew the value of touch. Another time, I had a friend who needed an MRI. She was claustrophobic and had already tried two times, but couldn't take it. The third time, I went with her and grabbed her hand. I held onto her the entire time she was in the MRI. She later said it made all the difference.

As someone who has spent nearly 17 years in search and rescue, I'd much rather see a case where someone thought a person needed help and the supposed victim had gotten home safe then a case where a victim has unfortunately perished, it is those cases that you remember, the USCG is vital throughout the world but especially along east and west coast and the Gulf where the seas are very unforgiving!!

Well, I'm thankful that the other boaters called it in that they thought there was someone in trouble. We had a guy buy a used boat from someone. Took it out on a big reservoir lake, capsized it. swam to shore, went home, cleaned up, took a nap. Mean while someone reports to the rangers about a capsized boat. So the dive team is out on their jet skis. There are white caps big enough to knock the guys off the skis. So they contact the registered owners of the boat. Boat! We sold it. So more calls. They discover the guy is home, he's fine. He's in trouble. Didn't change boat registration, didn't report the boat capsize to rangers. Risk lives of guys out searching for him, when they didn't need to. Put other boaters at risk. Don't know if he has a boat anymore. There were some fines for what he did and didn't do. He may not be allowed to own a boat anymore. Fortunately no one out searching for him got hurt.

Fun fact Cruise ships make $100s of millions in America yet they pay no taxes in America
@guns4h1re4 жыл бұрын
Not really. They may avoid federal income taxes in some circumstances but they still pay millions in port fees, and state income taxes, and gambling taxes depending on where they are, often per cruise line. The US based parts of their companies, such as the travel bookings and logistics corps to sustain the ships pay taxes.
