Comfort collars allow for no seatbelt which should make loading faster. On full throttle you have to wait for them to check your seatbelt before lowering lap bar, on wcr you can fully strap in once seated. They need to add a holding break to twisted Colossus to allow 100% dueling like this.
@ryanstadler63924 жыл бұрын
Japan Stuff you technically don’t even need a seatbelt on this train design. Skyrocket at Kennywood doesn’t have comfort collars or seatbelts

Ryan Stadler Seatbelts are required on any ride with inversions in California that doesn’t have OTSR, since the accident on Perilous Plunge. You won’t find a looping coaster (with lap bars) in Cali without them.

I got on this during the preview period (though only once), and I'd probably put it 4th in the park after TC, X2, and Tatsu. It's definitely a fun ride even though it isn't the most intense, and one that would be a ton of fun with a group split over both trains. Unfortunately, from what I heard comfort collars are now standard on all new Premiers (at least in the US), so that's just something it will be necessary to get used to.
@jackmartino82454 жыл бұрын
tbh im fine with the comfort collars since they improve capacity. I've seen WCR with insane lines but the wait was no longer than 45 mins but on most days full throttle has an hour to 2 hour wait minimum

My only true criticism with this ride is the waiting room. I feel like they should have added more theming in the parking garage so it’s not completely quite. Sure, they added a slideshow screen, but it’s the same one from the line queue. I just think they could have used the waiting room to their advantage to drive hype for the seond circuit, but it’s still an awesome ride nonetheless. P.S. I remember when you did the analysis for West Coast Racers, 5 years ago in 2018. They took a really long time trying to build the ride, and there was dust storm during summer 2019 that delayed the rides opening until the beginning of 2020. After many long years of studying racing roller coasters. Somebody finally did something right, and created a racing coaster that runs their trains side by side. I like the Street Racing theming of the surrounding area of the ride, and it fits West Coast Racers perfectly. I was hoping that the coaster wasn't going to have lap bars and they ended up putting comfort collars, which is somewhat better than OTSR. From 2014 to 2018, Knott's Berry Farm was my home park, so I hope to someday visit Six Flags Magic Mountain sometime in the near future.

So I rode it today for the first time and I think West Coast Racers was a phenomenally fun ride with a perfect theme. And the guaranteed duel with three train ops was pure genius. How has no other park built one of these yet? It’s a guaranteed hit for everyone.
@LiamLlamaEVEC4 жыл бұрын
I've ridden it a few times but I respectfully disagree. I think the ride is well-paced but lacks any real stand-out moments besides the white hi-five. I do appreciate how fun it is and do think it's one of the funnest Coasters, but all of the airtime after the white hi-five is just weak. I do REALLY love the theming, but I don't really think the ride is better than Tatsu or Riddler's (I'm a sucker for stand-ups). Even though I disagree, your video production quality is outstanding and you describe the experience very well! 😊👍
@stephenn774 жыл бұрын
LiamTheGandhiLlama LTGL Yes, for Riddler’s! I don’t really get the hype for X2 either? That coaster has gotten so rough lately. :/ As for Tatsu, I think it may be the most intense in the park. Have you ridden in the back??
@LiamLlamaEVEC4 жыл бұрын
@@stephenn77 Yeah, X2 is definitely rough, but I love rides that throw you around (I kinda liked Green Lantern). While I do think that the Tatsu pretzel loop is insanely intense in the back, I personally find X2's final Raven turn more intense (on a good day). I think Magic Mountain is kind of cursed with bad restraints, look at Viper, X2, WCR, TC, and Riddler's (although WCR and Riddler's aren't awful), so those don't help. I totally get your point of tho, especially about how rough X2 has gotten, but because of the ride mechanism, I don't see how they could really fix it 😕

Not only does it race everytime, but dare I say it, WCR does 'racing' better than Twisted. Now twisted is a better ride, but on WCR, you're watching the other train more than the actual track, most of the interaction you have with the other train really feela like you can touch the other train, and its just so much fun!

I agree with you on all the aspects of the coaster EXCEPT the spaghetti bowl. That part to me was very lame and uneventful. Not forceful at all. I also found that the lap restraints were much tighter after the ride than before. They were so tight in fact, that my legs felt bruised after walking off the ride. I cannot express how much my legs hurt after the ride. This was a major deal breaker for me. I would rate a 6/10. Not high thrill, painful, over-hyped

That car in the queue is not a car. It's a hollow plastic shell. I went in for the member preview event and you could completely see through the wheels. There is nothing under that thing other than a couple metal poles holding it in place. Apocalypse gets actual cars for props, WCR gets a piece of plastic.
@CoasterStudios4 жыл бұрын
I couldn't care less that it isn't a real car. I couldn't tell from standing right next to it. A real car would've been a lot more expensive to put in the queue, and since they knew this one wouldn't ever run, I don't blame them for only doing the shell. It looks cool, and that's good enough for me.
@jmore50994 жыл бұрын
This argument is heavily opinionated but I really am let down by it. It didn't need to be a real car but it just looks so cheap up close. Every detail that could be skipped, was skipped. The windows, headlights, and grill are all stickers. There's black cardboard sheets stuffed behind the wheels. Lightning Rod did it so much better, I was expecting detail more in-line with that. Apart from that though the ride itself is great no argument with a 9/10 at all

I agree on twisted. I wish it dueled each time, it’s nice a lot of the time now you are most likely going to get one. Working as an attendant on twisted lately to get trained there gave me a new respect for the other ops working twisted. It’s not easy. Not only do the lap bars act like they weigh 50 lbs lifting them up all day long, but it’s super fast paced even with two trains once the two come back together to stack and go out somewhat in a pair to race once. Other ops I as well say they are sore the day after working twisted, it’s like going to the gym all day, lol. Glad I wasn’t there when they were running three 😳. I have no idea why RMC thought it would be a good idea to not design the restraint system to be easy to pull up. Would make it load faster too because we wouldn’t have to pull up the lap bar on guests who think it’s locked or literally are not strong enough from their leverage point sitting down to lift it up. West coast racers crew does a great job of pumping out the trains though. Their new one side load/unload is genius because it gets rid of the wasted time people use to put their items away. This way they can put their items away before they ride and get them when they get off. Such a smart move.
@OklahomaCoasterFan4 жыл бұрын
I certainly don't blame the ride ops. They were trying to get it to duel today, but the guests always take forever to put their giant 40-pound backpacks to the side. There were a couple close calls, but I didn't see any duels today on TC.
@GMoney-B4 жыл бұрын
Oklahoma Coaster Fan seriously. I would not be surprised if in the next ten years we see a change in operations/entrance exit layouts of new and existing rides to emulate west coast racers where you get on and off on the same side since guests can put all their items on before they get on and get them themselves to not slow down operations because of bags. Very smart move I think. They could totally take a lot of flash pass lines on many rides and turn that into the exit and then make the exit the flash pass line to be like west coast racers. Then reconfigure a bit the railings and what not. I think it is very doable, even for the six flags budget they are allotted.

Pretty sure the issue with TC could be fixed if they just used a brake run before the second lift hill and a proximity sensor on the other track to tell the brakes to let off in time to line the trains up. Then just have the same speed on both sides of the lift hill and boom, dueling every time. Doesn’t seem too difficult.
@danieloconnor41994 жыл бұрын
The issue with that is it would be a bit more then just the break run, as for the coaster to race, the train on the green track starts early, and the blue catches up, so a lot of timing would have to be changed.

If you put this above tatsu would you take it above Manta?

Would you consider West coast racers 2 credits since there are two different tracks, or so you consider this one?? Thanks love the channel

Justin Storm one

I would consider it one. It’s Möbius loop like Twisted Colossus is. This one just happens to do a stop and wait

The one thing I regret is going to six flags BEFORE they announced and made west coast racers.

It is a fun ride

Why does this ride have to have comfort collars when there’s literally another Premier Rides coaster in the same park without them.
@jackmartino82454 жыл бұрын
It’s actually to increase capacity. The gp is dumb and can’t figure out that they should leave their lap bars up when there’s seatbelts. Comfort collars exist on any ride to increase load times so the crew can see them over the lap bars
@gregorygolub33154 жыл бұрын
They followed in SeaWorld’s footsteps with the comfort collars. And also, they just need to take those off. PERIOD.

Gregory Golub never happening. They are they to speed up loading.
@jeffreyhyde43854 жыл бұрын
Agree so much faster than if this ride had seatbelts. And @ SFMM its gonna have one or the other.
@gregorygolub33154 жыл бұрын
Chance Roberts comfort collars are not to speed up loading. If anything, they SLOW DOWN the loading process because they have to check that the comfort collars are actually locked in.
@Johnnyiswhere4 жыл бұрын
@@gregorygolub3315 On Full Throttle, the ops have to check seat belts, lower the lap bars and then check the laps bars. On WCR, they do one check. The idea was to speed up the loading process. This was said to us by the Park President himself when someone asked at the WCR tour. Whether they achieved that or not is a separate issue lol.

Chance Roberts I think that I may just be pissed that they chose either of those at all.
