I just bought a pair and wore them last night yes, do 1/2 size down for U.S, very comfortable chukka with room to spare, look great.

Terrific review. I’m glad you liked them. I’ve just ordered my 8th pair of cobbler unions this weekend, a two eyelet derby on their chisel last. I’ve been very happy with the customer service as well. I have the same suede on your chukkas on a pair of loafers I bought earlier this year. I agree it is soooo satisfying to touch and brush. I don’t think the cut any corners in terms of materials. They have some newer museum leathers that look very nice too.

They do look good. I'm glad you got to review the maker. I have also heard Hugo Jacomet cite the brand. I had a pair of Russell and Bromley suede chukkas in dark forest green. Colour was a bit more difficult to wear and match but the real deal breaker that caused me to sell them was the squeak as I walked and the heel slip. They just weren't made to a high enough standard. I'm now looking to up in quality and I'm looking less on ebay as second hand shoes. My birthday treat will be a pair of Carlos Santos. I'll be in touch for advice before I buy! Tony

I love my Carlos Santos. Build quality and comfort are great. I had a pair of Trickers where one (right shoe) squeaked. I contacted the company and they said it could be moisture from the build and just wear them ( they actually recommended taking the to a desert ) and the squeak would go away. It didn’t so I contacted Trickers again. They said there was nothing they could do because I had worn them. AVOID TRICKERS! Mistakes happen but they can be fixed

Hi Jeff, to be honest trickers have been very polite and nice to me so far. I am fairly sure a lot of other companies would behave similarly though especially the bigger they get. Not saying that was right though. Sorry to hear about your experience though.

@@MisiuAcademy Re the 'Squeak Problem': I was watching a video by Trenton and Heath in which they were fitting the heel stack to a boot (I think). The guys explained that sometimes if the heel stack isn't contoured to fit the sole and roughed up so the glue makes a good contact, a squeak can occur as the leather surfaces make contact as the wearer walks. I suspect my issue above may have been the poor fitting of the rubber heel stack on the Dainite sole. I have a pair of tricker's and I have generally been pleased with them but I'm sorry to hear the response from the company re squeaks: there isn't a desert local to you I suspect! Tony

I think those might be made from CF Stead Janus suede which is as good as suede gets.

Most of the companies at this price point will have decent leather, you shouldn’t be worried. Fit and aesthetics will be more important hehe!

It depends on the last. I found it roomy initially but I think I would wear it true to size now.

Hi jimmy, due to training my weight has gone up 5-7 kg so my foot is also bigger. In retrospective yes I would take a size 8 now.

It’s overall quite spacious, depends how snug of a fit you want. I got my toes a tiny bit cramped after a few uses and I am slowly preferring a comfier fit

I don’t know, it must be something they developed during their working time together. I have no idea who claims ownership now though since they don’t really talk anymore. But it could be a cultural reference who knows! South Americans tend to be more religious so it could be a reference!

Terrible experience with Cobbler Union. I bought a pair of oxfords and they were about a half size too small. Wore them in my living room for about five minutes, put them back in the box and sent them back for an exchange. The couple minutes I wore them in the house put some light creases in the vamp; I got an email back that this constituted them being “damaged” and ineligible for an exchange. A couple takeaways: first, simply trying on the shoes will crease the leather and make them ineligible for an exchange or return. Second, you’re taking a big risk buying from this company without tryin on the shoes in store.

@@MisiuAcademy I appreciate that. As you can imagine, I’m not very happy. First, I have Beckett Simonons that I’ve been wearing for months and still have no noticeable creases, yet these had light creases in less than five minutes of wearing inside my house. On top of that, people should know they are potentially risking hundreds of dollars guessing at what size shoe they need if they buy from this company online.

I can show you some Beckett Simonon pictures that are shocking, but that’s not the point here. you do have a point though about the sizing online. In my shop, I frequently have people asking me about sizing shoes that cost 1500$ and I do not sell unless I have enough data to give them a good recommendation. I don’t know if you did, but always reach out to the brand or the retailer to ask about sizing and advice. 7/10 people in my shop often miss the descriptions for example. I hope they reply or escalate your case. My shoes fit and wear well from them and that’s my experience but I appreciate you sharing the potential other side of the coin. Thanks for watching
