I now have the F7 one length irons, definitely helping my game. Where I was hitting only 1-2 greens per round, now hitting 11-12 greens so a definite improvement.

We are all born differently. Wedges aside, pick your favourite iron that allows you swing most aggressively without losing accuracy and distance, and change all the longer irons to that length (leave the shorter irons alone). Do the same with your hybrid and fairway woods respectively. Biggest improvement I had in 20+ years of playing.

That's the great thing about the new cobra single length and pro sets is you can mix them if you don't want your short irons longer or your long irons shorter. They can easily be mixed to your preference. I ordered the 4,5 and 6 in the one length version and the 7 through PW in the variable length (pro) version. This can also be done with the cast versions.

I have been gaming the cobra forged tec black one lengths for one month and my handicap has dropped from 9 to 6. Would never go back to variable length irons. I lost 5 yards carry on my 5 and 6 irons, but the consistent quality strikes compared with my previous AP1s is worth it, and my scoring average proves it. Plus the cobra connect feature is absolutely awesome. Just my experience...

Consistency! The ball placement, for every club, is the same. I don't have to move it around in my stance. I don't have to stand closer, or farther away for each club. The backswing and downswing plane are the same for each club! Rick obviously has some kind of mental hangup on understanding this! Rob was hitting these clubs for the first time, and had not been playing with them for an extended period. I have a set of Sterling Irons, and I absolutely LOVE them. I had no "adjustment period" with these clubs as I understood the principle of one length irons, and that is why I bought them! I would advise everyone out there who are thinking about one length to give them a try. They do work, and will improve your game!!

Started playing golf 5 months ago. Played one round with my father-in-laws clubs(variable length cobra SZ irons) got hooked, and bought in to the idea of one length irons; Cobra F7s.... I have a cool comparison too; my good friend/neighbor started the exact same day as I, (both never swinging a club until that day, both 24 years old) he bought variable length clubs and unfortunately for him my skills exceeded his highly within the first month. The main thing for him now is he's still trying to hit the ball going from let's say 5-9 (hits heavy or thin). But with me I can hit the ball every time with great confidence and just focus on yardage and club gapping. Definitely recommend anybody getting into the game to take this route! Now I'm just hoping they come out with nice one length tour style "blade" irons so I can get more control for shot shaping.

Hey Rick... i am a big fan of your reviews. This was a good review, but I think you missed something in this review. when I hit my irons, especially longer irons, my concern is with the accuracy of the balls I am hitting and consistency. I do care about the carrying distance but not so much as accuracy. With irons, you are trying to hit the ball on to the green, and if you pull it or push it, the balls goes into the bunker or into the hazard. It seemed to me that the amateur golfer in this video hit his own 5 iron over 190 yards at one point and pushed it yo the right. I think he was hitting more accurately and consistently with one length club... and that is probably the reason I am considering to buy these one length clubs. My HP is 8 and I am from Korea. I hope you can make another one of these videos and talk about accuracy, using an amateur golfer again. thanks.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this.

It was almost 30 years ago that Tommy Armour Golf came out with the "EQL" irons. They were all the length of their standard 6 iron. The irons most likely failed because they were looked at as a gimmick club with a sound principle. The tour pros paid no attention to them as they were strictly marketed as game improvement so the irons didn't benefit from the trickle down effect from tour use and validation. Without vehicles like the internet to get word out to the masses, they just faded away.

Another excellent video. Is it just me, or are both of you really up in distance and accuracy? Are you keeping track? If not, I suggest you take a look back to 1 year ago or so. I have 2 questions about single length irons that may need some time and testing to consider. First, will the single length iron last, or will this be a short lived fad? Second, I'm curious to know if it will change or interrupt your chipping technique? Seems to me your swing can change when getting down to wedges. Personally, I think I'd feel more confident with a longer wedge. I back off a bit when hitting my wedges and can be inconsistent.

I am a shorter golfer and would feel somewhat awkward hitting the lower irons with longer shafts. I think it would be a pretty decent idea for manufacturers who do single length clubs to make a set where wedges to 7 iron are of standard length and make 6 iron thru 3 iron same length as the 7. that way you can still use the same current stance and ball position with shorter irons. and also attack at a more descending strike. if that makes any sense

Bryson has stated in an interview the reason for doing the one length was when he sets up to the ball he didn't have to adjust for length for each individual iron. His set up is all the same thru the set, which to myself seems legit. He doesn't have to worry about distance being how he strikes the ball. I might have to experiment with some older sets of irons. But if i were to do it, i would take the 7. 8 & 9 and make them all 7 iron length. Take my PW, 48, 52, 56 @ 60 degree wedges and make them my pitching wedge length. We'll see.

I had Cobra custom make the 9-GW set 1 weak and adjusted the lie to 63 which is the same as my 8i and feels the most comfortable with a single plane swing.

I can see the one length working with 4-7 and then normal length 8-gw sort of a different type of combo set. 4 and 5 iron most golfers arent expecting to have them stop on the green but the shorter shaft is probably going to help with more consistant contact and direction. I know if I hit my normal 4 iron its probably the right result 5/10 times but I could see that getting up to 8-9/10 if this one length concept works as it should.

I think Rob said it when hitting the 5 iron single length. Confident. If you feel confident in your swing and your club on a more regular basis you play better. With his 5 iron regular length he wasn't always as confident. Sometimes he hit it better than others. Also like Rick said hitting the ball thin with a lower loft single length club might work out better than hitting fat or chunky with a regular length lower lofted club.

Wood length could be all 3 or 4/5 wood. There would then only be two and distinct set ups; which makes sense. One set up for woods another for irons. As far as wedges are concerned, most people are fine with the current offering, the difference to my mind is so small that it doesn't matter, we're always gripping up and down wedge shafts depending on the shot.

I am really struggling on whether or not to buy these clubs. If I do buy the Cobra one lengths and then later I need a new set I will have to buy the one length clubs again, meaning that if they have not brought out new clubs I would have to be a few club generations behind. I don't think I'll be buying these until either other manufacturers bring one length clubs out or Cobra make a whole range of one length clubs. For example, cheaper, expensive, high handicap, low handicap and treat them like normal clubs.

Interesting idea but I could never play these. I was honestly getting uneasy just watching him hit that long gap wedge. The long irons wouldn't bother me too much but I feel like I'd lose some control with the wedges, especially on half shots. Not to mention you run into the issue of the rest of the bag. Do you keep your other wedges at standard length or match the irons length? Is the hybrid, FW and driver going to feel crazy long because of the huge gap in length between the longest iron and them? My personal opinion is this is a gimmick that won't be manufactured by cobra after this model.
@kourt24697 жыл бұрын
Chad Muniz I am a scratch golfer and have played tom Wishon's Sterling Single Length for a year now. They are in my opinion the best irons I've played. His are built at 8 iron length so the gw is only really +1 inch of standard but I've always played +1/2 length in my irons so it's really only half an inch longer. Half an inch isn't really even noticeable to me now. I play my sw and lw at 36inches and my 4-gw at 36.5. Don't have any issues transitioning to fw and driver. I use to shoot 68-74 depending the day. Last season I shot sub 65 several times and I practice and play less than I used to. I think if anyone gives them a chance for a few weeks they will come to really like them. I hit my 4 iron same distance at 220 yards but much more accurate now. I am hitting par 5s in 2 much more and long par 3s don't even seen difficult.

Eric Briggs there are many different combinations you could do with single length concept.
