That makes more sense. Some people may still be mildly ashamed of having deformed kids these days, but when's the last time you heard of a modern family locking a kid inside the house forever and ever, just because it was born funny? Nowadays, they'd just give it up for adoption or something. Makes more sense that the daughter is dangerous/evil, so they feel an obligation to shield the world from HER, and also protect the daughter from the consequences that would follow her release into the wild lol.

That's one point I can super agree on. @HazardManTV Жыл бұрын
I feel like you missed sooo much in this movie, which is surprising since your reviews and analysis are usually spot on. #1 Biggest point, they clearly show the parents take care of the daughter. The Mom leaves the door at one point holding water. They know shes in the walls. #2 Shes in the wall because she killed the trick-or-treater. The parents covered up the death and locked her away because they knew something was wrong with her. #3 The movie's cinematography is through the eyes of a child. We follow the main character and see the wold as he sees it for the most part. Hence why the parents seem a little off, high open ceilings, ect. I view the movie through the lens of "what if all the wild thoughts you had about your parents as a kid were real?".

Usually I’m a huge fan of Elvis’ reviews, but this one seemed like he didn’t fully watch the movie. The fact that he didn’t notice that the child in the garden was killed by the daughter, or that the parents knew their daughter was alive and was feeding and taking care of her. The parents aren’t homicidal but they are unstable. They love their kids and instead of shipping their daughter off to an institution they opted to keep her and take care of her. This is referenced when the mother goes on her rant when the teacher comes over and semi-accused them of child abuse. Lots of small details make this film great. You just have to pay attention. The house is small but looks huge on the inside because it represents a child’s perspective another part of the direction that I really loved.
@Kristine_202 Жыл бұрын
They knew she was alive because at one point, they show the mother leaving the entrance to the wall (behind the clock) with an empty pitcher. That was supposed to be proof that they were bringing her food and water. Why they thought she'd never contact her brother and just stay silent in there...I have no idea! Because this movie sucks? LOL EDIT: Oh, I also think that's why the dad was randomly bleeding when the teacher showed up. They never explain that, but it looks like he got attacked by something. I got the impression that he was tending to "wall girl" and she scratched or bit him.
@Nolan65775 Жыл бұрын
It would have been more interesting if the parents were just straight-up abusive psychos and the goblin-troll daughter was actually trying to save her brother from their abuse.

Typically when someone misses major plot points in something they're reviewing, they notice at some point during the editing process when they're stuck watching the thing repeatedly to gather clips. Not Elvis though, apparently. He missed most of the plot of this film and made the video anyway.
@tdata545 Жыл бұрын
Yeah this was a weird one, this could be his biggest blunder. I didn't even like the movie, I'd give it a 5 out of 10, at best. I also only saw it once while doing house chores, and I noticed he missed the whole part where the PARENTS 100% know the girl's in the wall, it's not mentioned a lot in the movie, but the movie does deliberately focus on them feeding her, talking about her as well. Maybe the boy killed the girl for his sister. Maybe the way Elvis described sounded like a silly Goosebumps episode but no, he was so wrong on how many things played out, and on HUGE plot details.************Spoilers I guess*************************************** Liiike how the daughter actually killed the Trick R Treater, not the mom or dad. The parents buried the tRt in the pumpkin patch and covered it up for their disturbed daughter. The parents also definitely know she is alive, as they are seen feeding/giving her water throughout the movie(clock). Now maybe it is kind of making a bit more sense on how and why they acted so "off'" (to say the least lol) throughout the film. It doesn't make them "good", but it definitely makes a lot more sympathetic and human. The daughter is about as evil, as evil gets. I am sure Elvis was just busy or tired, but I hope he gives this one another chance...and his attention this time. Lol It's a really fun horror movie that literally bleeds Halloween. So everything Elvis got wrong: 1. The parents know their daughter is alive as they feed her which was shown in the movie. 2. The buried skeleton was not the parents kill, but the daughters. They just covered it up to protect her. 3. They just want their son to not know about their daughter and don't know she can go between the walls as she does. 4. As she knows her parents know she's alive she just doesn't want them to know she's asking their son for help. (This is worth criticising though since should they really not believe their son that keeps saying he hears someone in their walls so this point and the one before is something he got wrong, but their still something to criticize as it shows a lack of intelligence and simple put 2 and 2 together on the parents part as obviously rats can't knock on the walls also why would the son not show the hole in the wall and tell them he saw a girls eye there? Another point of criticism on my part at least is the reveal of how she looks. The movie is called Cobwebs an inherently Spider like name, she can crawl on walls very quickly and efficiently, she eats insects and drinks peoples blood. It was set up perfectly that she's very spider like so her having a goofy ass smile with sharp teeth that is just in almost every stupid monster flick nowadays that just breaks the tension and makes me unable to take it seriously anymore rather than resembling a Spider is just a huge setup oppurtunity wasted imo. If they made the parents a little smarter, made them not help their sons bullying problem in a more believable way (They're scared he might get too violent like their daughter perhaps), made the daughter kind of like Ellie in Let The Right One In where she's the one trying to help him (or making him believe she is when she just wants to manipulate him) and having her resemble a spider rather than a goofy ass monster and this movie could actually be good rather than wasted oppurtunity).

The girl killed the trick r treater, and the girl who is trying to get free, after her parents locked her in in response to her killing, lied to her brother to manipulate him into freeing her. The movie is then from the perspective of a paranoid young kid who isnt sure who to believe and whose world is turned upside down, while also being a victim to bullying. From his perspective, the girl in the walls is helping him stand up for himself, and his parents behaviour seems to seem suspiscious to HIM because he doesnt fully understand whats going on. thats literally the point. I think one very integral plot point you missed here is that the parents didn't kill the trick or treater, the daughter did and lied to her brother about it. The plot is a little vague, but the parents covered the death up and hid their daughter away because she was a danger to everyone, but they couldn't bare to kill her themselves. They even take care of her in the walls, you see the mother exiting the door in the film with a tray of food and water. They just know she's a danger and don't know what to do about it besides covering her existence up and gaslighting their son. They are not the most mentally well parents clearly XD

@@xtorterraxgreymonx12ahh38 the writing is genuinely awful and the acting direction is bizarre. I honestly dont know how anyone could look at this movie and think its good. The parents jumped from overprotective and loving to abusive psychos to terrified and concerned whenever the plot needed them to. Not a single ounce of consistent characterization, and for some reason the actors were instructed to act as GLARINGLY suspicious and psychotic as possible. I know theyre good actors, but the movie made them look bad with how over-acted their characters were. The teacher-- literally every decision she made put that kid in active danger. Going to their house, showing his parents an obvious cry for help, CALLING HIM BACK WHEN HE VERY OBVIOUSLY CALLED HER IN SECRET AND HAD TO HANG UP THE PHONE QUICKLY, Not notifying CPS or the police when she had SIGNIFICANT reason to suspect he was being abused, going to his house AGAIN without calling authorities, NOT CALLING AUTHORITIES AGAIN WHEN SHE SAW BLOOD??? Genuinely the worst character in the movie imo. Im very easily scared by cheap horror, and this movie didnt even have an ounce of tension for me. And saying this movie has themes of abuse is laughable. Sure they shoehorned it in, but it was entirely out of nowhere with zero buildup, just 0-100. Needless to say, thats not exactly how abuse works. Ppl seriously need to raise their standards with that sort of thing-- having abuse or some other dark topic in a piece of media doesnt mean it was handled well or a good representation of it in any way, but for some reason a ton of ppl seem to give participation trophies for it being included at all. I enjoyed the movie quite well as I did this video. Two things you got wrong though: 1. The parents didn't kill the trick-or-treater but just covered up their daughter's mess, who escaped one Halloween night. 2. The parents fed her - I think there even is one scene showing the mother putting something to eat in the door behind the clock. As to why the daughter, strong as she is, wasn't able to escape while the parents were still alive, I don't know. Maybe she was afraid of them or they have a similar kind of strength - some people speculate that Peter does too as he was able to throw her into the pit. But this didn't bother me that much. I can live with some explanations being left out or open to interpretation as long as they don't create huge plot holes, which wasn't the case for me apart from her being way too strong to be held back by a wall or a door - maybe the creators of this movie weren't aware how much power is needed to lift a human being with that ease. All in all: A fun movie to watch imo. Btw. love your videos. Found your channel 2-3 years ago and I have enjoyed every single one of them.

I swear to god the scene with the bullies breaking into the home feels like it was lifted from Sadako vs Kayako (2016). Maybe I'm crazy, I haven't seen Sadako vs Kayako in a few months so maybe I'm attributing things from it to this because it's a similar setup.

I don't know how you came to the conclusion that the trick or treater was killed by the parents but she was killed by the goblin girl. The parents put the goblin girl into The dungeon thing with the cage in the basement but she escaped that and was in the walls, They're scared of her so they can't exactly go into the walls and they can't let on to their son that they know a person is locked in the walls Which is why they tried rat poisoning and other things like not feeding her or giving her water Hoping the problem would just go away or die.

I think she started in the basement, but escaped (because she learned how to climb like a spider), and that's why they put her in the walls. I wrote this in my other comment, but they knew she was alive the whole time. I guess they kept her alive because she's their kid and they love her...Although they had a twisted way of showing it. Also, you're totally right, she absolutely would attack them whenever they opened that little entrance door behind the clock to give her food/water, but you can't expect the filmmakers to think of EVERYTHING! 🤣

He's not even trying anymore. Literally all of the comments are about how he just completely missed the fact that the parents knew she was alive and were actively feeding her. And yet he repeatedly acts like this isn't the case. I don't even think he watched more than 1/3 of this movie, and just had his editor stitch together some of his inaccurate and shit takes on the film. He doesn't care at all. Clearly coasting by on his adsense and clothing revenue, he only sees us, his subscribers as adsense $$. Sad.

I think they showed the mother opening the doorway to the walls (the clock) so I assumed that they were feeding their daughter all this time. There's many plot holes, but I also assumed that they were crazy. Peter could've trick or treated just fine.. They knew that their daughter killed the trick or treater, and yes, I assume the daughter killed and ate her or something like that.

@griggletv6974 not really. the movie isn't any more illogical than many other HW projects. All movies and literature require some amount of willing suspension of disbelief. You do know that right? Also, they do show the mom feeding the girl through the door. They are keeping her there willingly, she's their daughter and they cannot bring themselves to kill/abandon her but they also cannot accept her as she is. It's really not that illogical within the universe of the movie.

Elvis my boi, the sister wasn't locked in the walls by the parents, she says herself "-so daddy built me a pit", she was locked in the pit to begin with, which is why it is covered up in that hidden basement, she later managed herself somehow to escape the basement and stay within the walls, that's why they don't act concerned whenever Peter says he hears something in the walls, cause they still assume she's in the basement. And to answer a question ahead of time: "why didn't she break out of the walls and kill her parents anyway? She seemed very capable of doing so in the final act", fear. She was trapped for years in that basement, even if she's some supernatural freak she still fears her parents.

I enjoyed this movie quite a bit. Someone else said the movie plays like a fable told through the boy's eyes. So, some details seem unreliable or exaggerated (like the inside of the house, the sister, weird parents, etc) and with that info I enjoy the flick a little more. Filmed in Sofia, Bulgaria which strikes me as an odd place to shoot small town USA but it does add to the off-kilter feel. imo
