Love of Pets Hi my name is Janelle I've owned 2 cocktiels before.... Couple days ago I got a baby Cinnamon White Faced 8 week old.. His name is Paquito! He's so cute he's got huge feet lol.... He's doing pretty good knows step up, still like scared of certain things but is curious and loves to be out... I take him out as much as I can.... I have also a lovebird he's a little devil but I love him. . And a parkeet she's old she keeps to herself, she's tamed but prefers to be in cage chilling.... I've been playing music and videos of cocktiels singing hoping he will do something soon.... He's really quite actually... He makes little noise here and there but nothing consent.... Aaahhhh hope you answer... I have questions
@Loveofpets6 жыл бұрын
Hi, he is just a baby and still learning. Is it a male or female? If female they hardly make noise. Baby tiels are more quiet than adults. I am sure once he settles in and matures he will be screaming and singing his head off, 😀

I got my (i guess) male cockatiel from a neighbour (i never owned a bird before but rodents (hamsters, guinea pigs)) who bought him as a present and didnt turn out as they planned (he bit the children) so they gave it to me for free. I'm not sure how old is he but we think he wasnt matured yet when we got it. (1 year ago) He is very noisy now. Especially in the morning from sunrise to early afternoon. (1-2pm). He is very muscular so to say as he is mostly free to fly in the flat what he does quite a lot he is quite acrobatic in the air. I installed 1 swing in each rooms (3) next to windows so he usually race from one swing to the other. He really likes to sit on them and watch outside happenings.

Hello everyone I am a new subscriber (joined Saturday September 30, 2018). Currently I have 6 cockatiels untamed but hoping to change that; the newest that came into the flock is almost done transitioning from baby/kid to adult. I have had several Lutinos; meanwhile I have 2 gray males, 1 pied, 1 cinnamon and 2 pearl (the newest tiel has some yellow mixed in with the pearl back feathers)

I plan to bring one home hopefully this week! I've wanted a bird for so long and I'm happy that time is finally getting closer! My dad isn't too fond of the idea and has talked against it but my mom is like "Please please please bring home a cockatiel!" ever since I chimed in the idea. I've been looking at Conures just for the sake of surprising her with a Cockatiel since that's what she thinks I'm bringing home, though I'm sure either bird would be amazing to own. I'm sure dad would absolutely love the little bugger overtime lol

Ty Brown Haha! My mom didn’t quite agree on getting a bird either, but me and my dad were able to convince her and now she loves him. She cuddles and scratches my conure all the time. My cockatiel on the other hand hates everyone but me.. just make sure if you get a conure and it’s your first time bird, to not get a sun conure. They are so so loud! It might ruin it because your family might get annoyed by the screeches. Trust me it has happened to mine, but I guess they’re able to tolerate it haha

Monty reminds me so much of my cockatiel Alan. He's also a "sort of" rescue. He belonged to my great grandfather, at first he was well looked after but as my grandfather reached his 90s he became very forgetfull and frail. Alan was locked in his tiny cage all day every day for almost a year when we realized he wasn't getting enough care. His diet was poor and he was very stressed and skitish. It was sad to see since when my grandfather first got him we weened him ourselves and he absolutely loved people. Since we took him and have been caring for him he's begun to warm up to people again and become tamer but he still gets very moody and bites, but he seems much happier. He's now on a varied diet of pellets, fresh fruits and vegetables and millet as a treat from time to time. He also gets out of the cage every day and we're soon moving him to a larger cage where he can move around more freely and with ample space for toys and possibly a friend. I honestly never thought I'd be a bird person but this little guy has won me over.

It would be cool to have a parrot mimic your voice after you’re gone from this world. (I guess I’m really just talking about great speakers, like African Greys) I have a sick sense of humor I guess... I have cancer with a terrible diagnosis (I am getting palliative care, but chemo seems to be working well on keeping me stable.) Anyway, I asked my Mum if I should get a parrot and talk to it 24-7 for the next year (hopefully) so it will mimic MY voice and she can still converse with “me” after I’m gone. She doesn’t think I’m funny. 😂😂😂 But seriously, just joking people... don’t ever get ANY bird expecting it to talk or even whistle. You’re dog and cat can’t talk but they are still great companions! Birds are the same, any sounds are just an extra bonus, if you’re lucky. Bless your Grandpa ... & YOU for caring and keeping his bird! 🙏👍😁🥰

I have had my cockatiel " Sunny " for about 6 weeks. He is out all day with my 2 budgies. He is very talkative. He knows his name as well as mine and the 2 budgies name. With their English names they also have whistle names. He loves to get scratched. It's a constant. They can choose where they want to bed. They all sleep near one another. Within a few inches to about a foot. He loves going into the shower. He screeches as the sun rises. He likes to get picked up then. He quietly whistles his name along with R2D2 noises as I hold him near my chest.He might be 7 months old.. They all love fresh grass and fresh seed from weeds , flowers etc. One of my budgies tries to feed him. It's cute. They all eat from the same tray peacefully.The foods are safe. I see finches, sparrows, doves, mockingbird, crows etc feasting on them in my yard.. They love it more than millet. I also feed them chop , seed, millet etc. Thankyouverymuch for your advice. P.s he won't step up . He likes to be picked up and held. I don't train my birds with rewards. Is it too late to teach him to step up? Also Is it necessary? @Loveofpets2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I see all comments so it's never too late to ask. Broken blood feathers may never happen or it could happen once in a lifetime or twice a year when they grow knew feathers. All birds have blood feathers when new feathers are growing in. Once the feather has fully grown the blood dissaptes. It's when they break and bleed it could be an issue.

@Loveofpets4 жыл бұрын
Hi, they can come out of the cage as much as you like but minimum would be one hour. You can divide the time out of the cage and take out in the morning, lunch time if you are home or after work/ school and then the evening or you can let out for longer periods of time when you are home. I don't recommend clipping the wings. Teach the recall. Learn target/ clicker training.

Apple cider vinegar works well as a cleanser and disinfectant. Dilute as needed. It can also be used to soak sprouts and all veggies and fruits that are fed to all our birds. The smell isn't toxic and a little bit is okay to be added in water/diet.

Very informative video. There's a lot of info in it that other videos lack. For example, I own a few and the dust is indeed a down side that many people don't know of. But I do think that there needs to be a better warning for the flock call. It's not as loud as bigger birds, but it can be very loud, especially when people accidentally learn them to yell. Like in the linnie video you let us hear all the sounds, that would have been a nice addition. ☺️ But really, great videos, I'm watching to see which species are nice to add to my bird family! 😍

Cost will depend on where you live and if the bird is hand raised or raised by the parent birds. Also the price will depend on the mutation and the quality of the bird. Good ethical breeders charge more then the average breeder. Pet stores charge more then breeders to make a profit. Bird mills may charge cheaper. In my area they sell between $100 to $250.00. I recommend you get one from a reputable breeder.

Hey I have a question, I had a cockatiel bird (it's her in the profile picture) for 5.5 years and she passed away recently.. I want to bring another parrot but bringing a cockatiel home again would be too hard on me. Can you recommend any parrot breeds that are similar to the cockatiel?

Be patient ❤️ Spend time with your bird and earn its trust 😍 I got my boy Pickle 2 months ago, and I was worried about bonding too, after spending lots of time with him, now he calls until he can see me and runs around the house to find me 😍

This video was very helpful. Btw your my favorite youtuber because you give a lot of information on cockatiels. Idk if you've done a cockatiel diet video but if you haven't, can you make one please?
@kaitlyn47355 жыл бұрын
Nvm, I hadn't gotten all the way through but then I realized that you did show the diet..

Had a cockatiel named Cinnamin, 17 yrs. when I first got her setup, a honey seed treat melted & fell off its stand, in the middle of the night, of course she jumped & screamed & wouldn’t stop. I lifted her cage cover & she was at the bottom of her cage with blood coming from her top left wing. Got her to the vet within hours. She broke her wing, they casted it. Didn’t work. So she lived disabled all her life. Miss her a lot.
