Just get a purebred poodle or water dog from a reputable breeder. They do health test to make sure you're getting a healthy non shed dog that's is 100% proven.

Non-sense. My mini-Goldendoodle is an idiot. He came to me at 2 months of age, he must have been abused somewhere before my getting him because he's aggressive when touched unless he allows it, and then, only until he changes his mind about physical contact... if I don't stop petting him, he growls at me, even showing teeth. I've outlived my Rottweiler, German Shepherd and Gordon Setter, the Setter being the most wonderful dog I ever had. Anyway, I never had a dog which didn't want to go for a walk, ignored human grade meals I feed him on exclusively... steak, salmon, tuna, pork chops, beef liver, chicken and turkey and human vegetables. His Vet again said "the dog eats better than me! " This is true. My complaint is that breeds are stereotyped and pushed along that way. My next dog will be a gold fish.

Doodles are a mutt and their behavior and genetics is a coin flip. Poodles are a high energy intelligent working breed who is often mixed with another working breeds and is passed off as a calm family dog. Which is absolutely hilarious. If you want a Doodle just get a Poodle or a Water Dog, they look azactly like Doodles in every way but they come from reputable breeders not backyard designer breeders. Reputable breeders actually do health test so they're only breeding the most healthy of their dogs and they can assure you the dogs have an even predictable temperament. *Doodles aren't healthier* dogs and they can often be less healthy and prone to more issues as you're just combining two breeds health issues into one dog from an unreputible breeder. *Doodles aren't always non shed* which makes it absolutely horrible to groom em as their shed gets matted in with their poodle coat. And for you allergy suffers. *Doodles aren't more friendly* than an poodle. Doodles are a mutt which makes their temperament and energy level a coin flip.

Poodles make great family pets regardless of being a working breed or not. They are calm they are intelligent and easy to train they are easy going and friendly. Nothing funny about poodles being used as a family dog. Mixed breeds are actually usually more healthy than a purebred. Wile it is a bit of luck of the draw it's typical that they are healthier than the average purebred dog.

@@toedrag-release I do agree with everything but mutts being healthy. If you breed 2 unhealthy dogs regardless of breed they're going to be unhealthy. If you breed a fined bone dog with a heavy built dog that mix is going to create a dog with joint problems even if the parents didn't have that problem. Mixing can create new issues. If you mix a germanshepard with a dalmatian that's not going to get rid of them being prone of deafness or hip problems but gives you a dog who can be prone to both. *95% of Mutts aren't being health checked before they're bred while purebred dogs from good breeders are. Which makes bad genes weeded out like you'd see in the wild which creates healthy animals.*

I have a groodle / golden doodle and much prefer to call her an adorable mutt that a designer dog :). I basically decided on one as my family wanted a golden retriever and I wanted a dog that could be inside more without lots of shedding. Our past do was a Labrador and he could not be an inside dog due to excessive shedding.

It is not a mutt. A mutt is a dog of unknown ancestry. As we know that a golden doodle is the hybrid mix of a fullbred Golden retriever and Full bred poodle. We know it's ancestry. Mutt doesnt mean any mixed breed dog. It means of unknown ancestry.

@@T.D.8 a mutt is any dog that isn't a purebred. Doesn't matter if you know the heritage or not. These dogs are NOT "hybrids". A hybrid is when you cross two different SPECIES. All breeds of dog are the same species. These ARE a mutt
