I think he was nerveous. As someone else in the comments with more chess knowledge than I has pointed out, he might have won the g4 battle and the game. Perhaps it was the camera and knowing people generally root for AC or perhaps he tried to play an mind game and lost? Btw, he's not even an investment banker, but a software engineer (someone else mentioned this). Perhaps he was trying to make the content more interesting? I would want to talk with the guy, before I made my mind up about him.

I love how obvious their old friendship is throughout this. I think the people complaining are only seeing things at surface level and can't directly relate from their own experiences. Even as an adult with a professor career, if I meet some childhood friends, I will forever be young and open around them. It never changes with certain friends no matter how life passes.

He played well for someone who was hardly focused on the game. if anyone curious, 10:30 winning move for black is Nxg4. If pawn takes, Rg3+ eventually wins white's queen. if Rxe3, Nxe3 and that's also leading to a decisive attack on the king.

In my experience these cultures of people are typically more closed off and don't have the same experience in general of stresslessness and the feeling to be 100% natural around your oldest friends at all times like in North/South America and Asia. His mistake was moving. When he was way ahead she was trapped. Almost all her pieces were in a spot where moving gets them captured. A couple nonsense moves like shifting the king around or moving the pawn one square was the move. Give her a chance to make more mistakes.

Not a great chess player but I really like chess. What I see on this game is how beautiful life is meeting new people and how interesting it is to have a conversation with them. People keep roasting this guy in the comments but what if he really is a stand up guy in real life but he's just doing this because this is what his and Anna's relationship is just like? A lot of friends have a joking/teasing relationship and talk trash to each other but never really mean it especially if they have known each other for years
